  1. It's a toggle switch.. requires a restart of the car to go between 4WD and 2WD More info in here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/345651-awd-to-rwd/page__st__60
  2. Yeah as for working on other peoples cars, I agree with your boss for the most part. After reading all the naysaying I was of the same opinion until one day when I was flicking through the 33GTR workshop manual and came across the short blurb about putting it in 2WD mode so I though I would give it a bash. Much to my happy surprise it worked and a big skid (single pegger ) ensued. So then I had to put an LSD and a switch in
  3. It's all hydraulic, the problem with 33+ era is that when you pull the fuse you are just killing the computer, the pump is still supplying pressure to the transfer case. I've even tested this method on a hoist, put it in 2WD and put it in Drive (my car is auto), the front wheels don't even budge.
  4. Not for a while but I would think over a year of driving around in 2WD that it would have killed my transfer case by now. There is NO preload on the transfer case with this method. I'm not the only one do this, there are several of us in WA that KNOW it works - we even run cars up on the dyno like this. You can!
  5. I've got it Got an R34 one aswell
  6. Ahh the R32 All Engines manual I've got a 32 GTR workshop manual too which helps with a lot of the body/chassis/electrical stuff, it's GTR specific but GTSt is close enough in most aspects.
  7. It runs a 5% preload whereas the 32 era doesn't, in the workshop manual it outlines the two methods of putting the car in 2WD mode. One is dropping the shaft, the other is disconnecting the air bleed plug and pumping the brake pedal 5 times after you start the car. It works so well that I installed a switch and drive around every day in 2WD (until I broke the gearbox doing too many skids on semi slicks, but that's another story). Point is, transfer case is fine and 4WD works perfectly when I want it to.
  8. He did it with a carpc, a copy of nistune and a script
  9. Nice!
  10. It is different but there is a technique to put it in 2WD mode without dropping the front shaft.
  11. GTR or GTSt?
  12. Superchump? Jaycar? Dickos? etc etc I have one in my wagon for 2WD but be careful, if you have a 33 GTS4 you can't do it the same way the R32 guys do.
  13. Early 26 (32 GTR pre '93 I think) yes (push type), late 26 no (pull type, late 32 GTR, 33GTR, 34GTT all the same).
  14. It could be the fuel pump itself or it could be the wiring the ECU to the FPCM.. the exposed copper near the ECU was worrying.. as was the exposed copper on the CAS wires.. How'd you go fixing the wires Jesse? I wouldn't bother chasing other things like actual fuel pump etc until you know the wiring is all good..
  15. Driveline can be replaced, as long as they haven't put it over any big curbs or wrapped it around a tree or pissed/shat on the seats, it's all good.
  16. Is it OK for them to get their reference from the same vacuum source?
  17. Not really any places with new stuff, people like Steve May ([email protected]) and JPC will have some second hand stuff and can source things from Japland for you. My regular online stores that I buy from are: justjap.com (over east), nengun, RHDJapan, greenline, SummitRacing (in the US). I also buy all my silicone bends from ASI_Performance on ebay, good prices and fast delivery.
  18. 10W 10ohm from Jaycar, cost like $11 for 6 of them Have since found a better range of boxes to house them at Altronics As for getting the car to run I have NIStune and a Tuners license so I can get it running well enough to get to the tuners, will be a couple more weeks till I kick it in the guts though (pipes to be welded).
  19. Obviously the guy that didn't crash
  20. Is the difference significant?
  21. Cnts!!! I think that's why they didn't take my video camera that was sitting on its' tripod on charge.. got distracted by the halfer sitting there
  22. [email protected] And yeah, I'm a portly fellow too and had to get in the same way
  23. Hmmm.. send me some pics and a price
  24. Nice! I've stopped worrying about my radiator, don't really care much and I have a GTR one that I'll get serviced in case this cheap ally one is crap or gets lunched by the fan being too close. Ordered another silicone bend (80mm 90deg) and a bunch of 3.5" hose clamps last night, throttlebody>cooler pipes are so close it's not funny! but pretty close to the fan
