Correct, high flow cats themselves are not a defect. To pass emissions you need a Euro 5 cat with 500+ cells and a really good tuner. My 500 cell cat and my one cell cat are identical from the outside so even if they took a pic on the rd and at the inspection they would see the same thing. As for noise my 4inch turbo back was 88db with some minor "modifications".

High flow cats are legal in NSW.

Ive done 3 DECC inspections and passed with a custom 4 inch exhaust and an 800hp motor. Pics were taken on the rd and taken at the inspection, as long as you dont change "viewable" items between pictures taken its ok. As long as all aspects are legal (noise, plumbed back) you will be fine.

It is highly likely you wont do an emissions test, just a sound test and inspection. Just quieten the exhaust up, enclose the pod filter (if you have one) and make sure nothing vents to atmosphere.

Im locked in for Motive Drag Battle in May and my goal is 140mph a good ET will be a bonus. I haven't had much luck launching the thing with a big tyre as it snaps axles like twigs.
