Thread resurrection: a couple of years on, have the DCT boxes been reliable for you guys? I'm thinking of getting something like a Polo GTi as my next daily driver (once I get sick of the XR5) but I'd like to know whether the dual clutch boxes have been reliable or not?

Macs are actually really good machines for running windows. The problem with Macs is the high purchase price, the Apple mentality of "you can only purchase our accessories", the lack of drivers for some of their hardware when running windows and the lack of support for OS X when it comes to running more specialised programs like finance-related programs.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good handling US muscle cars? I'm currently driving a C5 Z06 but it is so twitch and the handling is unpredictable. Is there another yank tank that handles better or is at least predictable around corners?

GTA IV was announced in 2006 and wasn't released until 2008. So I reckon GTA V won't be out before Christmas 2012. It might even be as late as 2013.

I'll also add that fuel and tyres WILL cost you a fortune if you daily drive a GTR. You'd want to use BP ultimate or something similar, which seems to average around $1.60/litre. So depending how much you drive you'll be spending at least $80-$100 a week on petrol (if you don't fang it). Daily driving means you'll need a new set of tyres each year, and you'll be paying, at the very least, $200-$300 per tyre (you'd want something decent, no point having an R34 with $hitty tyres). There's another $1k+ each year. You have to factor in insurance as well, which will be expensive for a young driver. You know you can afford to buy a GTR. You have to do your research to see if you can afford to run a GTR. They're two very different things.

Some good points have already been made. The only thing I would is that spending $50K CASH on a car is crazy. You're better off investing the money in property or shares and using any equity gained in the next few years to buy your GTR. In my mind, I see no problem financing expensive cars because all you're giving up is the cash flow in the form of repayments. I can't see the logic behind paying with such a large sum of cash when the cash can be invested somewhere, gaining you equity, and giving you much cheaper financing options.

I don't mind the looks of the MP4. I think it looks a lot better than the long-tail F1s, but not as good as the short tail F1s (not many cars do). It's a shame they didn't go with a central driving position for the MP4, they could have made that the company trademark. Still, can't complain with a twin turbo V8 I'd love to see these two cars lined up on the same track to see what 20 years of development has achieved.

No one is saying you have to like it and I never mentioned peoples' claims the car is slow, I focused on the claims the car is boring and uninvolving. For people to claim it is boring and uninvolving, well they can only make that claim if they have been in one. Otherwise how would they know?

I'd take the Lambo over the GTR every time. But, for all the guys saying they hate the R35 and that it's boring and uninvolving, have you ever been taken for a ride in one or driven one? Obviously not everyone is going to like it enough to want to buy one, but there is no way anyone can walk away from a drive in a R35 without having been impressed by the car's ability. If nothing else, the car's ability to stop and go around corners will leave a lasting impression and a certain amount of respect for what the car can do.

Looks good. From what I've read it only covers two of the islands from San Andreas. Having said that the country areas look awesome and I'm expecting that there will be a tonne of crap to do in the countryside. I agree though that they need to bring back helicopters, planes, and crazy missions. GTA IV was great but it wasn't anywhere near as fun or over-the-top as San Andreas.

Honestly I'm trying to get out of imports so I'd reall only consider swapping for a small daily (e.g. corolla, focus, etc)
