  1. Well, as much fun as I've had owning this thing, it's time to get something small and economical. So, I'm selling my Legnum, the details of which are: Year: 1997 Make: Mitsubishi Model: Legnum VR4 Colour: Trigger Mauve Transmission: 5 speed manual (this is shared with the earlier Lancer Evolution models and won't give you any troubles, unlike some of the autos) Mileage: 73xxx kms Reg: until April 2011 Price: Around $12K This is a prefacelift manual and I've owned it since November 2010. The car is a stockie, save for a K&N panel airfilter and rims that the previous owner had installed. The odometer reads 73xxx kms, and according to Meek Automotive, the kms haven't been dialled back much (unlike many other imports). When you see the interior of the car you'll understand that the car really is a low km example, with all plastics and fabrics in near-showroom condition. The only thing to note is the aftermarket radiator, which appears to be a cheapie off ebay. Again, this item was fitted by the previous owner and I'd be happy to help a potential buyer source an OEM radiator or to reduce the selling price to account for the radiator. The car has rego until April 2011, and I've just put two new tyres on the front. The car has been serviced at Meek Automotive (I've got receipts) and they have replaced the gaskets and lifters and, more recently, all oils have been replaced (engine, gearbox, AYC diff, etc). My mobile is 0458 802 345. Cheers, Ray Here are some pics (I'll try and take better photos):
  2. I reckon go for a car that is as close to stock as possible. If you want some mods, a car with turbo-back exhaust, powerFC and boost controller is a great street combination (usually make around 200 AWKW).
  3. Also, the reality is the cars are very old now. So that's potentially 20 years of hard driving (people don't buy these cars to drive them to the shops ans back) that will require someone to foot the bill to maintain the car. Can't escape that fact.
  4. Surely the GTR has far less electronic wizardry than other sports cars? Sometimes I think the LCD screen makes journos think the car is a spaceship, when in fact something like a 458 Italia or F430 have far more buttons, switches and electronic gizmos to keep the car under control. What does the GTR have? Computer controlled 4WD, electronic suspension, traction control and stability control as far as I know. It doesn't have torque vectoring/brake steer, electronic diffs or different power modes. At the end of the day the GTR is simply a well designed car and it shows in the Top Gear lap time.
  5. The GOR is so damn tight and slow in most corners that the differences surely come down to the drivers, not the cars?
  6. Agreed. The car looks amazing though. If they've changed this much with the Aventador, it makes me wonder what changes they'll make to the Gallardo.
  7. I can't wait to see this thing on Top Gear and 5th Gear: http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Lamborghini-Aventador-6.5-V12/256739/

  9. I pity the people who fall for these scams. Who the hell pays for a car with Paypal anyway??? If I'm selling or buying a car, the purchase/sale will always be made in person by either cash or bank cheque.
  10. This isn't really a turbo vs displacement discussion; it's more of a turbo vs NA discussion. NAs have great response, but turbo engines have that awesome mid-range torque kick that is so addictive. Does anyone know if it's easier to get more power out of forced induction engines? Is it more expensive to get more power out of NA engines? Maybe this is one of the reasons a lot of today's performance cars are going turbo?
  11. That sucks man but I've used state roads several times as a buyer and I can't overstate what a good job they did. I would have purchased some absolute lemons if it wasn't for them. I guess each company will always have an instance of bad customer service.
  12. Whether the car is a Veyron or a XF Fairmont Ghia, when someone crashes their car into their own gate at considerable speed (by the looks of it) then we're going to hang shit on them for being stupid.
  13. I thought they were being serious until the last paragraph or so, lol. Here's another good one. It had me going until half-way through the article. It's the very first article on the page: http://www.autozine.org/0_News/Archive/2011_03/News_frame.html

  15. Lol, Jackie Chiles had to be the best non-permanent character on that show. Back on topic, does anyone know what 5th Gear said about the Tesla? They have better 'reviews' and I'd be interested to see how their experience differed from Top Gear's.
  16. That's some serious damage for a car that crashed into a gate! What the hell was the owner thinking or doing?!
  17. The Supra is sweet but the Viper is effing epic. Any pics of the Viper???
  18. I'd say that it was a comment made by someone who hasn't NEEDED a lawyer to represent them in court. The value of lawyers is only going to be known to people who have required legal representation.
  19. The Legnum is definitely the way to go, except that cops are starting to know what they are. They are still rare though, and most people don't know what they are or what they're capable of. Legnums commonly get mistaken for some special type of Magna or Verada. Add to that the fact that they are cheap and the manual models are fairly reliable (with the exception of the damn lifters and interior clock), you've got a contender for the best sleeper on Australian roads.
  20. Which series is it? Is it a series 1 XR8? If you can, try to go for a later model with the 220KW engine. The mechanicals of the AUs are pretty reliable, but the interior quality can degrade quite heavily over time. Also, some of the smaller things like the electriconics can be unreliable. I've known of several AU owners (including my dad) who had constant problems with the radio, electric windows and mirrors and some of the engine management electronics. But I guess any used car would have these problems.
  21. Why not have the best of both worlds and buy a manual Legnum VR4 or Stagea? Not cheap to maintain, but they are very cheap to buy, are practical and are an absolute hoot to drive! Oh, and I'd take a FPV F6 in a heartbeat if I could afford it. The FG models are absolute weapons.
  22. It's about bloody time. Unless you live in rural Australia and run the risk of hitting wild-life, you don't actually need a bullbar and they're nothing more than a hazard to other motorists and pedestrians.
  23. Mate, you paid for legal advice and you followed it. There's nothing wrong with that. As far as I know, no one on here is a lawyer with experience in these matters, so it's all based on our own experiences in court. So, what worked for us may have not necessarily worked for you. Good luck with the hardship licence.
  24. That's a good point. Mass Effect is coming to PS3 so the only big xbox exclusive titles will be gears of war, forza and halo. Compare that with ps3 that has gt, uncharted, demon's souls, killzone, little big planet etc etc. And it plays blu rays.
