Bring back Quick Nick I say! Can't believe he didn't end up with a drive this year. Perhaps he might replace De la Rosa?

The Best. Forget It, It's Over, Wrap It Up!
nismoman replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
There's easily more time to be had in that lap. Just kidding... but I think there was one corner he seemed to brake a smidge early and was a smidge late on the throttle. Well compared to every other 50+ corners that are on the GP and Nordschleife circuit he was turning it in, and BAM on the throttle!! That was just awesome! I love how out the back of the Nordschliefe section after the forest there are a series of Esses. He takes them at 240km/hr!!! Good to see the 301km/hr down the big straight. Mental just mental. When it looks fast on camera, it must be bloody terrifying sitting in the car. Would not like to be a passenger. But I'll drive it. -
HAHA! Nice one. But seriously, does anyone here expect Schuey to win a GP anytime soon or even this season?
-
So how does everyone feel about Schumacher's return? He's performances haven't been stellar and his team mate Rosberg is totally killing him at the moment. Are the reflexes, drive and passion gone? Is he taking a while to get back into the swing? Does the car not suit his driving style? Or is he just having bad luck? I thought it funny that people were expecting Rosberg to be playing 2nd fiddle to Schumacher in the MercGP team. Seems the shoe is on the other foot?

Best Tyres For Sprint And Time Trials
nismoman replied to fubar's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
^^ I was about to say the same thing. I don't think I run high pressures in the Kumho's to make them work. I've never had them over 35 psi hot and try to keep them around 32 psi hot. Also, I had to get a price on the Advan A050's and in 245/40/17 size they are $485 each from Gordon Levin. -
Best Tyres For Sprint And Time Trials
nismoman replied to fubar's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Kumho V70's are pretty good value for money and I think they are a very underated tyre, most people write them off as a basic motorsport tyre. I think this is because when you look at the V70 Semi's, they don't look like your regular RE55 or A048's. The tread depth is very shallow and they don't have huge tread blocks. However, when I gave them a go; the grip was very good, and they held up to the heat very well. I'm only doing 5 laps at a time but I have excellent grip the whole time. I can only compare them to Advan A048's I've run previously and they were at least 2 second's a lap quicker. I would expect more expensive tyres such as DZ03's, A050's and RE55's to be slightly better, but for the price I paid ($330e each for 245/40/17) I'm fairly impressed with them. Hmmm... Once my Kumho's wear out, I'd really like to try the soft A050's after hearing so many good things about them. -
Plus, if your tall as in 6ft plus, you WILL hit your head on the roof if the car has a sunroof. And if you ever go to the track, you will need to wear a helmet, that space gets even more crowded! Non sunroof model FTW!
-
I think best idea is to wait until you find the one you want in the right colour and features you want such as sunroof etc. Keep looking, there are plenty of S15's around. White or Red? Well, it's up to you. Red cars go faster don't they?

Battery Location... Wheres The Best Place
nismoman replied to NZM.031's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
HAHA! no worries. All part of being a fellow motorsport enthusiast. After I stuffed around with 2 pin isolator switches, I realised it was easier to buy the kit and do it right. It comes with instructions and is very easy to fit. I felt better/safer knowing that if I crashed and I was out to it, then at least a marshall can easily pull the ring cable and kill the engine/ignition/battery all in one. -

I've got mine mounted behind where the passenger seat would be. In a battery box with lid, strap and bolted through the floor with a clamp. -
Show Me Your Racing Machines
nismoman replied to screamin''s topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Looks sick! Well done in recreating the old Gibson Motorsport GTR! Lovin it. Have you tacked it yet? Looks ready to go! -
But if the purpose of Hamilton's weaving was to break the tow and if everyone adopted the same technique, you would have no drafting and definitely no overtaking at the end of the straight! You complain about lack of overtaking, but Hamilton's weaving will see less overtaking.

I saw a 60 minutes interview on channel 9 a couple of weeks back, and they showed Webber and his old age missus. Think she is something like 14yrs older? Anyway, they asked him if he pays any attention to all the hot grid girls and chicks at the GP's and he says something like "Oh you can look and admire, nothing wrong with that" and the interviewer then asks "so it's all looking and no touching?" Webber replies "Absolutely" and then rubs his nose and scratches his face and looks down and away!!! If you can read the simplest form of body language, it was a total lie!!! He may as well have said "bullshit" under his breath afterwards. Like *cough* bullshit *cough* Plus his missus was looking not impressed.

What kind of car is the no.4 white Lemans style machine? Is that the mosler? I love it! Looks sweet!

Driftsquids Rebuilt Drift Car
nismoman replied to Twisted_SIL80's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I think driftsquid is his drift nickname. you know like people on here have a sig/nick, but in drifting you must have to have an animal attached, like drift monkey, drift cat etc.. -
I just like how the BBC commentary team didn't even mention the weaving. Let's face it. He shouldn't be doing it. Yes he drove a great race and overtook many cars during the GP, but I think the weaving was going too far in trying to defend his position.
-
What did everyone think of the Hamilton/Petrov battle? Any thoughts on Hamilton weaving down the straight?
-
What about a side pipe for the track you can bolt on when you arrive at the track? Will give you lots of noise and better flow. Save weight too! Wouldn't take long. Wouldn't cost that much for a metre worth of exhaust.

You will need a L2S to get onto Eastern Creek. Cheapest option is a private practice day. They hold them about every month. Check out easterncreek raceway website for dates & prices. If you want to get on a race track without worrying about club membership, Cams licence etc, just to get started, you can look at Wakefield Park - Speed off the streets day. Check out their website for prices and dates. You can buy a 12mth Wakefield Licence for about $50 and then pay about $100 to get access to the track. Wakefield Park is a good starting point for beginners as it is very safe with plenty of run off, is a tighter circuit and not as high speed as Eastern Creek. There is nothing like driving your Nissan on a race track. Go for it!

Brake fade feels like the pedal turns to mush. It sinks further to the floor and the car doesn't pull up as good. A good tip for any person hitting the track is to always tap the brake pedal before you need to stand on them into the braking zone. Just to be sure you have some brakes. It's a tip a racer told me about and it can save your life. My advice about sharing a track with a mate? Don't do it. It will end in tears. Even if you don't bin it, it can lead to arguments about who got more laps, who flat spotted the tyres, who wore out the brakes more. It can lead to so many problems and I guarantee they won't be your mate after it.
-
All good advice from everyone. I agree with taking the NA Supra out to some track days with fresh fluid, pads, oil etc. and have some fun. Keep doing that until you find you want more. If you're already at the point of wanting more, and by that I mean, going faster, being safer with cage/harness, serious mods that arent' road legal etc. Then I say start looking for a nice S13, S14 or R32 and start building it the way you want it.

Cheers mate. I figured it would be "massive" horsepower lol!, but you know all that power to weight ratio talk etc!!! Gotta love 12500 rpm, must sound sweet behind you left ear down the straight. Appreciate your offer of help too, but same here, if you ever need anything, let me know. Us SAU guys have to stick together! I find I'm just loving the supersprint competition and the crowd that are part of it. Good bunch of people, whether they drive torana's, alfa's or radicals!!! Aaawwwe can you feel the love? It's just the waiting in between rounds that gets to me. Didn't Steve McQueen say in Le Mans something like "Racing is life, everything else is just waiting." So true...
