  3. Kudos to you Malcom. Without a blueprint to follow you have taken the path you believe was the original intention of this unique car and done it to the best of your ability. As to wether it will end up collectable only time will tell but it is one very very nice machine. As for those making claims that the mag articles etc are misleading, just ignore them. I recall recently a very nice gtr on the cover of HPI with the caption of 4 hundred and something scarey kw's plastered all over it. After reading the article it turns out that the figure was just the owners wish list like so many others on here. Misleading to say the least. Congratulations again on a very nice ride.
  4. What defines a "better" ecu. Sure there are shitloads of pudas out there that can out feature the power fc But in the real world the average modded car isnt capable of taking advantage of the extra available. What sets the pfc apart from all others is its generic nature. It is (or was) priced very reasonably and can pretty much be tuned at your local cafe, An ecu that can be serviced at about any major centre in the country holds far more appeal to me than one that requires product specific knowledge to get the best from it. That is not to say there isnt a place for the higher spec ecu's, far from it, big hp builds require a lot of management and that is where products like this one come in to their own. I hope its everything you claim and you have great success with it DG. For me, I am running around 500rwhp on a highly modded 25 and doing it very safely with an fc. I see no reason to change.
  5. Wish I had your muffler shop. I have 3 & 1/2 all the way with 2 custom mufflers and a resonator and its still too damn loud (98 dec.) I cant run at lakeside raceway because of it.

Having been privvy to some of the graft and corruption that goes on between motoring journo's and car makers It is safe to say that politics is clean compared to that crap. I read those magazines for the technical info only these days. The journos comments mean diddly squat. As for the engine not making the top 10, I fail to see see how it could. from my perspective its only the same v that nissan has soldiered on with for over a decade with larger capacity and coated slugs. Still a great engine but hardly cutting edge technology.

  9. I have mine installed for about a month now and the results are very pleasing indeed. The car was fitted with a jap brand coilover previously and all they did was keep the car off the ground (just). General driving is very comfy , firm with no harshness whatsoever. It soaks up some of the crazy potholes on our crappy roads with ease. More spirited driving highlights just how good it really is. rough corners can be taken without fear of the car being thrown off line as the combo just soaks it up and holds the line perfectly. My only issue to date revolves around my set up. my car makes reasonable power (around 500 hpatw's) and when i power on to exit the corner the rear squats and bites so well it lifts the front to the point I start to lose grip and go in to understeer. I am having the car corner weighted shortly and would like to hear your reccomendations on weight bias front to rear. From there it will be a matter of fine tuning with the sway bars to get it to its optimum. I am also considering changeing my wheel setup to reflect the heavy front nature of a 33 skyline. We mostly set up with quite a large rear tyre and a smaller front. I am thinking a gtr type setup with the same front and rear should be a better deal than the staggered widths most of us currently use. Your thoughts Gary? Despite some communication probs (partly my own doing) I am over the moon with the setup. It is also a far better part time drag proposition than Gary is letting on too. The car squats and bites hard. I would suggest that with a front revalve the rears would handle about anything on a 1/4 mile attack. One happy customer.

  22. Had the same question when I did my build. Jun or Tomei seemed to be the best option. I ended up using the Jun pump with the jun drive collar. More than happy with the performance to date.

  24. You are always going to get the negs. No matter what you do. Whilst the car doesnt look like a ferarri or a diablo it must be said that the looks department is the only area these guys can really shitcan the gtr. The performance figures are not subjective, Time and again the car proves that it can deliver so how do you pick on it, Easy, Call it ugly. It wouldnt matter if it was a porka, a vette, a ferarri or whatever. No matter how good it is there will always be a fan boy from another marque to find a way to degrade it. Human nature folks. p.s. The guy is a wombat.
