  1. Gets hit? I know there's one where one dude starts running, and the car slams the back of another parked car, but the guy didn't get hit. As for police, I don't think they're as active as ours are. ;o) The speeds they do this at are boggling though, hey!? And around trucks on main roads etc. Crazy =-]
  2. Ergh... I have to get around to doing this too! I'm not looking forward to touching that window-sealant black gunk. =-[
  3. Fair enough dude... in this case, it might not be the earthing. Although my VK was quite happy to run 3 amps, 4 speakers, and a sub, with two 12" thermo fans on the stocker. The high-beams dimmed very slightly with a lot of bass, but other than that, no problems. I actually suggested changing the original earth AND positive battery cables over, and cleaning the surface for a good contact. As for my R33... the power cabling is about 2 feet also. It goes directly into a fuse/relay box, and the earth straps to the body next to the battery. So even this upgrade for me made a huge difference... I figure that i'm drawing power from my battery, not my alternator... the alternator should charge the battery, and if it's really too weak and you run everything on full ball all the time, then eventually the battery will discharge completely as the alternator cannot keep up with it. Then again, i've always had really good batteries in my cars. It'd be interesting to see how your new alternator goes! I wonder what will fit? Maybe a VQ item or something?
  4. I sprayed under the dash about 5 times... a month apart each time... now it's been OK for 3 months... so I dunno... it was definately under the dash for me. As for the rattle... mine does it. I heard that it means "your box is old and worn". lol. I've had a new clutch, carrier bearing, carrier, spigot, pivot blah blah blah... all changed.
  5. green sticker and pink sticker are different. I beleive the RB25DET is pink sticker (mine is, and it's a series 2)
  6. I use my laptop with a USB consult cable... doesn't show AFR's though, you'd need a wideband sensor and some other hookup to show that. If you just want rich/lean, it will show that much. Other alternative I was looking at is the Apexi i-moni. It's available from nengun, and plugs into your consult port... shows all that stuff. Pretty cool and a few hundred bucks.
  7. lol... if you want NUTS, search google video for "crazy arab drift". Then drop your jaw. There's about 8 video's in total. ;o)
  8. Ah... No, i'd have to make a hole under the stock airbox to fit it, but that is my plan eventually. I don't think i'll be putting a front-mount on. =-]
  9. Ah yeah, I run a newer amp now... the JayCar 100wrms unit, which seems to drive them just as well as my old (large) amp. I have the balance faded to the front (+7), and the JBL's still flop around like crazy. I'm running the higher end crossover, so they are hardly getting any lower frequencies. This has stopped them from throwing the coils, but now have ZERO bass. I might get another pair of Clarion splits, as I had suggested... $200 new, I can find them for $100ish nowdays... the new models have brought the older ones down.
  10. I don't think you can really extract much more power out of a head unit mate. Might be a good idea to run an amp... even a smallish 50wrms amp will be more powerful than a headunit that puts out a peak of 50watts.
  11. The Redline stuff should only be used with worn synchro's apparently... VMX80 was the standard stuff that i've heard everyone using.
  12. Bearings Industries was the other go... There is a big thread on it, and has their contact details. Both bearings cost me under $100 in total. And fair enough, pred... it may not have seized, it could just be a whinger! In any case, DC... get it checked when your car gets booked in. =-]
  13. I have mine from my VP Berlina.... but i'm using the stock sidemount holes. =-[ The only way I can see this working for me, is if I put a hole under the stock airbox. Stealth!
  14. Rather sounds like an intake leak. Could be anything along the way after the turbo.. (intercooler piping) It would give you all those symptoms. The charge-air escaping would be louder than your filter intake sound, and it would give you pretty poor performance as the leak opens up.
  15. Not sure, but is there a possibility that it's your timing belt? If an old idler or tensioner bearing seizes up, the belt would slip and scream across them? It's a wild guess, and not exactly where you're hearing the problem, but might be worth having a look through the inspection plate?
  16. I had an atmo bov when I got my car, and it sucked just as badly as it does now, with a factory BOV. No leaks, coils are changed (which fixed my missfire), new iridium plugs, afm cleaned etc etc etc.... No joy so far for me! =-[
  17. keymaker: yeah, something like that... as I said, all you need for the R3X's are the first 6 or something.
  18. Interesting, but I finish work at 7.30PM, and I live on the Northern Beaches. We'll see!
  19. Actually, I have: er gl gr ontop of the rest, which those links don't seem to have. They're not needed for R31, 32, 33, 34's though
  20. Ah.. And I literally just got mine hosted as a torrent! Well, PM me if the links stop working or something... I have it hosted (much more slowly)
  21. Ah yeah, not much improvement because there was potentially another problem? Getting an auto sparky to change the grounding wire over to a really thick one is probably cheaper and quicker to try first. It should really be done on ALL Skylines where amps are used... mine used to be crummy until I had the cabling on the battery changed, now everything is bright and dandy!
  22. To expand on this... if it's happening all the time, I'd guess the packs are faulty. Unless you are running really high boost, gapping the plugs down is a hack to try and fix the coil pack issue. With a smaller gap, it takes less power to jump the distance, and you might be lucky that the distance is less than where the spark is currently jumping out of the packs. This will also give you a weaker spark and weaker burn... so if gapping them doesn't fix anything, check and fix your coilpacks, and put new plugs with the standard 1.1mm gap back in.
  23. Hmm... I tried to seed it via bittorrent, but had no luck. I can host it, but I only have 1gb of transfer per month at the moment. We really need to get it seeded as a torrent... that would be the most efficient way.
  24. Genuine or aftermarket? Would it have BOV gasket or any other useful ones like that?
  25. It sounds like someone has issues with their brakes? That's the jist that I got anyway. Brakes shouldn't brake on their own. You might want to get a brake specialist to check out your master brake cylinder, and adjust the piston inside it.
