In practice you want to pull the wires through the rubber seal (fig.1). To make sure no crap gets in I just taped it up.. not pretty but effective. (fig.2) I duct taped over the electrical tape in the photo just to make sure. I put it all back on (if you're doing it don't forget your fog light). With this pack came the parking lights also so I put them in. The result - fig.3 my old lights there are on the driver side (left as you look at the pic). As you can see the parking light is a bit faded/yellow. In comparison the new guy is bright and shiny (he just woke up) and the normal driving light is emitting much more light (as represented in the photo by the lens flare). In fig.4 the left hand side is the new light - muchhhHHh better than the right hand side. This is why I needed new lights. I'm not sure if this was useful to anyone but yeah.. enjoy O_o

Gday, My lights were crap so I thought I'd chuck some new ones in. I decided to go with something I saw on the spur of the moment so they ended up being Phillips "blue vision" (fig.1) which is actually not blue at all but a fake HID style light that has a thin blue filter on the bulb so that no yellow filters through. Resulting in a white light that does not appear blue (at all). The ones higher in the range filter it even more blue - however this (as it is just a filter and not a true xenon) comes at the cost of actual lighting performance. I stayed clear of the rice and went with performance. fig.2 - the actual bulb I had the problem that the h3's supplied were slightly different than the ceffy. They didn't have the same plug. Not to worry! Enter stage left peice of wire with little clippy things attached (fig.3) I just hooked this up so the wire grounded from the body of the headlamp socket ground to the (important if you do this - pay attention to the polarity) ground in the plug (fig.4 nb. in this pic the cover is not mounted to show the wiring). I then hooked up the positive wire from the bulb to the corresponding socket connection (fig.5).

Ah - didn't realise you could do that.. Got any pics? I got no room behind the plate cos of the intercooler. It's funny though it makes my car look faster - I had an old man trying to flag me down to slow down when I was going down a street when testing it. Funny thing is I looked at my speedo I was 55km/h and about 1500rpm. heh.

Should I rip this carpet out ?

Well .. grommeted it up. Got a grommet from clark rubber. Cut it up and around. Prep-sol'ed around the area and siliconed it. Then put the grommet in. Waited. Once it had dried just put more silicone to fill the gaps. Then duct tape over the top to make sure it's fully air tight and protect the silicone. Pic (incase someone wants to do this themselves)- -
And the car on the outside. Sleeper ? Perhaps not.. perhaps... if I get pulled by the cops cos if it ill have to hide it back a bit.

Second pipe - quite possibly will need removing cos it will get too hot but will see after some driving testing (of pipe temp and interference with other stuff in the engine bay.) 1- Pipe 2 sitting in front of the engine scooping air from under the car 2- Pipe 2 aimed at the side of the air filter

Gday, Just thought I'd post up some pics of my CAI setup I quickly hooked up today. I'm going to make a box for it out of aluminium as in the tutorial section also but this is stage 1. Pics- 1- pipe just hangin out 2- pipe at the bottom of the hole where the side mount cooler pipe would have been 3- the view including the air filter 4- the view from under the car.. zip ties are cool ok?

That's pretty cool CEF-11E. That sounds good. Just wondering what temps you got in terms of the difference? Any reason you did not spray inside the intake? (too hard too much?)

5,000 in aus? REALLY? I thought there were only 2000 GTiRs produced yet I've seen more of them than ceffies.

Thanks Ferni - will remember that one. Actually soon after I wrote this post I went back to the garage to see how my heaters were doin - and wouldn't you know it it was almost dry.. so I flipped it around a few more times and they were dry as, not even damp! So I then thought bugger it i'll take the seats out and give the car a vacuum, made it all cleanie clean, gave it a spray of glen 20 and the car feels clean and nice again. Now ... to find me another grommet!! and yes lucky it wasn't coolant! : -
stock ceffies dont look good. nor do stock 180's. last i checked 'mainstream' ads for ceffies ie. autotrader or something autostyle was selling a ceff for $20k..<<< wasn't worth it imo but yeah - grossly overpriced so i guess they must hope someone will buy it.

PS guys i can vouch for these kits. I now own the car that the pics Meggala posted are and that's his kit.. Looks great (apart from the drift damage on the rear bar heh heh) but yeah they are nice and line up well etc.... well they would if they weren't held on by zip ties but yeah they're great kits. Errr.. i mean don't get them especially if you're in sydney.... if you're not in sydney then it will look fat.. .. as i said before they look good on my ceff they wont look good on yours

Gday, Went out for a quick boost in the wet yesterday. Car started to miss every now and again almost as if it was outta petrol. It then cut out. 2mins later it started. Then it cut out again. I luckily managed to get my baby home - upon further investigation it seemed there was water all on the passenger foot well and (i think) it shorted or messed with the ECU. I mopped most of it up last night - right now I've got some driers pointed at it and crankin .. my question is - should I jsut take the console, rear seat and driver seat out and pull the carpet out to dry it.. or just leave it and keep drying it? Pics below.. ugh i hate these little things!! Also pictured is the culprit - ****ing grommet not in place!!

Protecting your baby from theft

Insurance companies won't let me. Let's assume the NSA/CIA whatever isn't after your car - then most of the best protection is the best we can do. And that is what it's all about. Just because someone, if determined enough, is able to steal your car doesn't mean you should leave your keys in the ignition. If we both had the same car, parked next to each other and a thief wanted to steal that particular model, all things being the same if I had a club lock and an alarm and you didn't - which would the thief go for? I think the point of my thread was to see what was the best thing possible in terms of security to, hopefully, result in the thief thinking twice about my car and going for a less defended car. -

THat's the smartest thing I've ever seen. I was actually thinking of wiring something like that up. Screw the legallity - what car thief is going to say "i tried stealing his car and i was bitched out" ?? -

Thanks sewid - good to know. I'll be speaking to my installer about that. -
I'll checkout the ones we got from strathos again (which bugger arent angled) and see if they will fit (they look like the same size as the jaycar ones). Thanks - You may be hearing from me on saturday haha. I just sent you an email too re: an amp ta.

Apperantly it's not that much more expensive. It's the time it takes your installer to wire the extra wires up from the alarm to the window relays. $50 ? -
Thanks Marty. The jaycar ones are 6.5" external diameter. I lined them up with the spacer that comes with the woofer they didn't line up at all - the internal diameter was from memory about 3-4mm smaller than the mounting spacer that came with the speakers.. I guess now that you mention it it might have cleared them with the other spacer in there as well but the guy did say 6" only. The strathos ones are advertised as up to 6.5" but yeah the speaker did not fit them - altho now that you mention it p'raps if I use the spacer that comes with the speaker it will fit? Hmm I must try this tommorow. Are yours angled? - because honostly I'd rather give you my (humble) business than jaycar - those ugly ****s i dealt with can screw their resistors up their respective arses. Strathos I dislike even more. How much would they be to my door?
