  1. if you end up using my number do me a favour and dont text me... just call
  2. Ohh so you have a plug in it, turn off the car, then you can drain the water out. Rightt.. Doesn't sound like a great idea - i mean the plug being there seems to me like its asking to pop out but sounds good in terms of getting water out. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52538 Have a look in this thread for how my pipes go. I can't say its a stroke of engineering genius but its simple really - the air goes up the water stays in the first part of the pipe. I've found a few rocks in it and all the dirt/particles/whatever also gather in that first part before the pipe goes up - suits me fine. Funnily enough though since I put my CAI setup in I've noticed more road-'dust' in that area of the engine bay heh heh. Price we pay. Here's the pic of my dodgily constructed air shield - the previous pics in this thread have inspired me to go back to my garage and make a straight cut one which will look a helluva lot nicer which I will at a later date. If I end up needing a totally enclosed box for engineering I won't bother and I'll jsut pay for a box (damnit i hate paying) but yeah. Atleast the rubber sits up into the hood (i assume)
  3. In no particular order- any maserati. audi s3 s4 s6 (rs variants also) bmw 745 (as long as its not a HC plate.. you dont find too many of those around) r34 GTR evo5+ (especially 6.5 makinnen) any jag pre 1950 any shelby cobra or other clubman (especially if it growls) any old fords 8's (especially xy, xw, xt and xp) any old fat yank tanks (ie parisienne) cefiros chasers gt2, gt3 supra (especially kitted up with big wheels and pfc) loud old rotors (especially when the driver weighs more than the car lol) little mum cars like festivas and such with p plates and when they're all hottie girls oh.. and cop cars but its less of a 'wow' than it is a 'woah'
  4. nice carrrr!! I saw the mag yesterday and thought SWEET. Do you own it fatz? The owner of east bear tried to sell me that car (for his r31 house mate)- how much you end up paying? Also I thin last time I saw it it had a different coloured bonnet - it looks better now.
  5. My cai pipes have been placed/designed not to pickUP water. (although to be honost I havent driven in the rain yet). They will pick up some to about 5cm in of the pipe but after that unless you have a few lads each with a hose or bucket there ain't no way the water is getting up/in. Wouldnt a drain plug allow all the air to get out?
  6. Yeah once you buy all the stuff though you're set. I dono I'm gonna just buy more chamois so I don't have to use a sponge. I don't trust the sponge. Chamois is easier to wash with too but you can never get the soap out so that's why I need a few. After I buy a few chamois I'm just gonna get the after washer but yeah.. i wanna get my car treated so it doesn't need to be washed, just watered like the fully sick cars
  7. Yeah that's the one I mean ceffo. It's death to your paint and it does the worst job of cleaning. The DIY detailing tutorial on SAU is the BOMB for cleaning. I'm washing my car with a chamois from now on. I washed it 2 nights ago and it kills it - paint looks so good now. [ edit: thread- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=47397 ]
  8. $4 at car lovers? Man car lovers is DEATH to your paint and the only decent car wash do it yourself ends up costing me $20-30 and that's the self serve that you drive out of at the end and you realise your car isn't clean, its just uniformedly dirty. I hate car washes. Hmm so what are our numbers looking like- about 6-8 people in 4-5 cars? Duncan's gone quiet. I hope noone from the main bit of SAU is angry we're having our own thing - I just wanna meet the cefiro brethren for now and I can't make Sunday. My car isn't ready yet to face the liners... when I face the liners I wanna have a gearbox I can shift I just found this little guy ehe ----->> :bananaman
  9. Your ECU/computer gets remapped with the new tune settings. So a remapping is always tuning, but tuning is not always remapping (as you can tune something else without touching the ECU). With your mods listed I wouldn't bother with ECU re-chipping (ie. re-tuning) JUST yet. Some tech-heads can correct me here but my understanding is that even with stage 1 mods you don't need remapping - it's a nice-to-have, but for bang for buck doesn't represent much gain (ie. getting 3kw for $200 when you could have saved your $200 to tune the big mods). I wouldn't chip till, at the very least, exhaust, intake, FMIC, boostup. If it was me I'd probably even not upgrade ECU till getting an aftermarket turbo or cams or something similar that would significantly benefit from it. Having said all that - if your tuner said your car would benefit from a remap then maybe something is out and there are enough gains to have to justify it. You should when upping your boost go on the dyno just to check to see if's ok. My car is tuned for what I'm running yet when it went on the dyno it was pinging because the injectors weren't clean. dyno 1, car dead 0. << lets keep the car winning. The most you'll pay is $80 for a dyno run (3 runs). If you're like ceffo and know the rights peoples $40.
  10. Well i'm just wondering if should go the modyourcar cooler and then get the relocator kit and all piping seperate, or just get fatz' (from this forum) entire kit (easier cos its all there). I just like the look and dimensions of the modyourcar one better but fatz' one seems to be used by peoples on the track on this forum with (i assume) no problems and it's got all the stuff already with it.
  11. Can the same short shift kits be used on s13 sr20det and a31(or r32) rb20 gearboxes? :bananaman
  12. damn nissaner that's not cool. not cool you were having a fight over a bbq and not cool if you had said that. but yeah.. i dont get it.. i've never had a fight with any of my gfs.
  13. massive hemi in a gazelle? omg thats madness. were you there just to run the dyno or to get tune as well? I take it if it's going to get tuned you'd want somewhere that builds turbos right? but at $45/run I might do well to go there jsut to get 'check ups'
  14. I got told by my installer brant wasnt that good and i think hes an authorised guy for them. He also does quik trak and some other stuff.. Can't remember what he recommended i think it was some black widow stuff or something. Then again can't trust noone these days eh wrxhoon on this forum found some 'ezitrack' stuff that does gps+gsm - sounds good but yeah... In my mind jury is still out as to what I should get.
  15. Lol ceffo - you have a bad memory :tool: He suggested that "noone else was involved, no property damaged, if you can get it towed I dont have to call highway patrol." He was a top bloke and had PLENTY of proof. ie. copper being a witness is as good as 5 witnesses. You're just downplaying how lucky you was.. if it had been me I would have been getting butt****ed right now. :whip: Either way I'm glad it ended how it did now we can live another day and- :rave:
  16. That answers my question to a tea - thank you. Which basically means since the 550's are not maxed out I won't be upgrading the injectors. I will however be making sure they are not blocked! Thanks again.
  17. Well.. I'll re-phrase simply with (a theoretical) assertion as the 'spark'/stimulus. "550cc injectors clogged with 1 unit worth of gunk perform worse than 760cc injectors clogged with the same 1 unit worth of gunk." "Therefore based on that assumption bigger injectors are more reliable even though the 550's are not maxed at the power the car is making." --OR-- 'If the injectors are flowing say 300cc at any given moment - whether they are rated at 550 or 760 they are both going to have the same trouble if the same 1 unit of gunk clogs them."
  18. Nice funky. I like my yellow fogs I think I'll keep them - but definately the ceff DOES need HID the headlights are shocking. That's an interesting idea .. double low beams and the foggies turn into the high beam. Doesn't that mean you need 4 ballasts and 4 HID bulbs? Sounds like over a $1000 for the conversion there : Are there any where in Japan that do out-of-the-box HID conversions for ceffies? Where are you sourcing your HID from? Last I saw phillips ballasts + globes were like min. $600.
  19. Procar .. dee why... hm gonna have to have a look thats closer to me than UAS. waaaay closer. whats he usually tune then? race engines= v8s or ... ?
  20. she can change my gearbox oil if she comes along.. tell her its redline lighweight
  21. I dono how the box is with the GTS25t but I wouldn't shift gears manually unless the box is designed to be driven like a manualised box and has a shift kit. If you wanna get speed out of it etc learn how it behaves and adjust for that (ie. being a driver).
  22. that should be easy shouldnt it? contact adhesive? or that clear poly-filler whatever stuff ("max seal"?)
