Thanks SydneyKid - any recommendations? Thanks Dr - hehe I don't know if that would be offset by the petrol and time spent getting to and from (i work a pleb 9-5 mon fri work so not quite feasible). Thanks anyway though. I was actually wondering how to put the same tune from the current ECU and put it on a PFC as a base to start tuning it in Sydney. Is that possible? (i'm talkin many many months down the track here).

I'll get it dyno'ed again after changing oil filter, oil, fuel filter, sparkies. Hopefully the injectors stay clean and see how we go. Yep the o2 sensor is plugged in on that side into the dump pipe. The plug they were referring to (which they thought was the o2 sensor) was on the top right hand side of the engine bay as you're lookin at it from the front of the car. Grey plug with a few pins in it - the plug is prolly about 1x1.5cm. I will take a pic when I get home I don't think it matters too much though since it is unplugged and when it was plugged in didn't make any difference on the dyno. About when would I be maxing out the 550's and puel pump? Any point in getting a fuel reg to be safe?

If you're taking it off sweet. ahh so haven't started yet funky .. i thougth it'd be finished and ready to photo by now Okay guys - 16th is this Saturday too_much_boost can you give us detailed instructions on where abouts in Lane Cove National Park we're meeting? Is it near the riverhouse/waterwheel thing? And everyone else have we decided on where we're cruising or if we're BBQ'ing? If we cruise I guess we can decide there - if we are BBQ'ing we need some preparation and this week will be over before we know it so let's start deciding. I'll put my vote in now - BBQ's make me smell like smoke and even though not a lot beats a good steak n onions on the barbie I would rather spend the time driving/looking at your guys cars so my vote is we just cruise to some beach side small town where we harass the locals and buy their fush n chups. too_much_boost suggested a run up the pacific highway - I can't think of any food places up that way but there are 100's on the way so we shouldn't have trouble either. So please put in your suggestions please gentlemen so we can have a vote or atleast see who wants to do what and we'll go with the majority decision. If there are any arguements they will be settled by getting your girlfriends (if they're hot) or hot chicks (if they're not or single) championing each vote with a nakid mud wrestle without mud and on my bed when everyone else has gone home. Thank you and come and again I will be thanking you now. -
Thanks for the reply guys. The topic is a bit mis-leading actually- the pinging stopped after an injector clean. They suggested maybe turning the base timing down a little too but I didn't wanna mess with anything just yet. Yes that is correct. Interesting point you raise Joel. I always thought 550cc were more than I'd ever need. I will investigate this further - thanks for the heads up. Dr what's your opinion on this? Should I be looking at bigger injectors? The ECU is dr_drift's doing - so maybe you should ask him in this thread? (save the middle man ie. me). Thanks for the info. I was using BP Ultimate, about 50/50 from different fills but both BP Ultimate - in theory should be 98RON and wasn't sitting in the petrol tank for too long (couple of days). The standard o2 sensor plug is disconnected. Meggala said there was another one instead so I assume the old plug was just disconnected and doesn't attach to anything, leaving the other o2 sensor and wiring to do the work back to the computer. Does that sound about right? If I wanted to up the boost dr_drift is it just a case of putting in an EBC and whacking it on a dyno and the computer should do the rest right? Because the guys at UAS seemed to think it was on the borderline of running lean and with any more boost on it wouldn't be good. On the other hand they didn't know the computer would adjust for that - so if it does well then thats fine. Should I be looking at bigger injectors then to be on the safe side? What would I have to do to make the AFR say 11.5 just to be safe? Or am I just being paranoid? Thanks again for your help guys.

Yeah ignition timing was mentioned by UAS guys.
-
Ahh. Thanks Joel. Is there anything else I should check? Could it be the timing is too advanced? They said they can retard it a bit and that should be ok too.. less power but less danger of pinging. So other than checking the fuel pressure, the timing, fitting a fuel reg, possibly bigger injectors what else should I do if I want to run more boost?

Car: a31 Engine: sr20det Power: 190rwkw @ 13-14psi Performance Mods: greddy t518z turbz, GTR intercooler, z32 afm, walbro 255lt/hr fuel pump, 550cc injectors, remapped ECU, pod+cai+heatshield, twin-thingy dumppipe to 3 or 3.5".... etc.. Dynoed: Unique AutoSports When: 10/10/04 Mode: I don't know - it says shootout mode but doesn't have the "shootout 04" logo everyone else seems to have -
My car went on the dyno yesterday. I cried when it was on the hoist it has so many things wrong with it. I cried when it started to ping. I'm still crying. But it did pull a tad under 200rwkw and no longer pings. Dyno sheets on this thread- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...369#post1044369

Hello, My car was on a dyno yesterday and apperantly it started to ping. After a clean of the injectors it luckily pinged no longer (I wonder for how long). The problem I do have is that it was (apperantly) close to leaning out. If I want to up the boost I run the danger of killing the engine/turbo. My question is what sort of things will I need to check (incase they need fixing or upgrading) so I can safely run that sort of power level? I realise a few things such as checking the fuel pump pressure and maybe upgrading the injectors are two things that need to be checked/upgraded. Before I go to the shop and start getting bent over I'd like to know what I should get checked/think about to get more fuel into the engine? If anyone's interested dyno sheets attached. Thanks guys.

err I guess I do mean c33 You end up getting it? -
Just wondering what the difference in these two EBCs is other than in aesthetics? http://www.nengun.com/product_info.php?cPa...46f5f9390834a4a http://www.nengun.com/product_info.php?cPa...46f5f9390834a4a Thinking of getting one of those.. they seem simpler than setting up a AVCR or Profec e-01. Leaning to the d1 edition one because my car is also white. Any advice appreciated. Especially if you have one of these!! Its going onto a greddy t518z powered sr20det. Thanks!

That pipe on the bottom of my oil cooler that points at the ground.. where should that go if I want it to be a 'closed' system? and is it bad for the car to do that? (i have nfi what an oil catch can does).

they can fine you for defect? WOW when i had my 351 GT with straight thrus it was overheating (and I didn't know what it was) they pulled me over while i was doin 30km up a hill trying to get her home. There was WIRES coming from my front tyres (because the car couldn't get to the servo to change them). ANyways ... the chick said if you dont wanna defect rock up to the cop shop in 2 days with new tyres and a receipt so i know you didnt borrow em. So i did.

Blow off valves fact or fiction
someonestolecc replied to R33_Series2Lover's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
is that a case of the bov being too highly-rated for the application? ie the turbo isn't boosted enough (and the engine isn't built to support the higher boost) so the bov is not letting enough air out (and defeating the point of having a bov/recirculator to protect the engine). if the turbo had enough boost it would always open even at low rpm and allow for air to come out.. pssshtt is that right or did i miss the point? -
