R32 Headlights Customising
someonestolecc replied to funkymonkey's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hey that sounds like a great project funky. I have no idea why you're doin what you are but I've been thinking of pulling apart the ceffy headlights to give them an angel eye (yes rice I know but original also and with the dual projector lights i don't think it will look too bad!!). The other idea was to drill a shaft between the two projectors and mount a small orange light there for an indicator (my bar doesnt have any). Anyways so this gives me a way to open the headlight enclosure without snapping it because I wasn't sure how to take them apart so thanks for that. Just out of interest if you drop them in hot water after warming them up gently are they watertight at the front? To be it seems obviously yes they are but just to confirm. How much the HID cost you? Let me know if you figure out the HID retrofit cos the ceffy and r32 projectors look identical. Thanks. -
Anyone seen/used these oil coolers?
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeha that's what I thought - can't go wrong. But I didn't know stock cars had oil coolers - I thought only harder cars did. Ehm - Yeah I'd like to know how it would perform also. I guess the name brand thing is always the way atleast you know there's some rep to it. With the no-names we have to go off what people who have used them say - and as far as I can tell noone here is using them, seen this post, or posted up. I shall wait on a few more opinions before I go buy this but definately if a few people here have used it it would be good ya.... -

someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Is it the same one PHAT? How can you tell? Cos yeah if it's ok then I might just get the big or medium sized one (depending on what I can fit) and all the piping for oil relocator etc. -
Hmm well mine look a helluva lot better than that. I've got th frequency list so I might just program that up into them and see if they work still. I think only one of them does but yeah if i can talk to everyone else with these things ill be sweet. Thanks anyway.
-
yeah funky I may be interested - what brand? i only really trust uniden and ceffo might have one for me already. i have to figure out what frequency range the 1-40 'channel' range is cos i have two at home that cost a small fortune i've used to some success before - but they have frequencies not channels so i could just use those instead if i could figure it out. what time you goin to UAS?

Where to get my bride seat re-upholstered?
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks Gfather - Didn't think of that. Thanks Peter - I will. I just gotta figure out where Cranebrook is - places like that and he'd have to do it 'while-i-wait'. Thanks again - Could a mod move this to NSW forum please? -
Gday, Just wondering if anyone had used or seen these oil coolers and what people thought of them? http://www.modyourcar.com.au/?cPath=5_272&aff=pf I'd like to peice together a bit of a kit for myself with a thermostat (for when i drive to the snow), an oil filter relocator mount and a few hoses here and there. I think where to get those parts has been covered in other threads - regardless if you have any suggestions on that you're more than welcome to raise them. Ta.

I cant get a navigator to be honost heh heh.

Thanks summoner - but my car isn't hi po I thought 200kw would be way quicker than it feels but I guess that must be the good handling. Then again I'd like to go in another 200kw car and see how it feels. I'd also like to try another dyno. I will try WSID and stuff when I CAN SHIFT. I got smoked by a damn WRX the other day cos I didn't wanna force the gearbox into 2nd (it locked me out). When I find out why the box locks me out then I'll be able to run 1/4s and drift/track days

Someone copy this and put it in ceffo's starting post (ie ceffo maybe you should? )- Also - I think there's only one entrance open at the moment and thats from lady game drive. Should be pretty easy to find. Whoever's first we'll just setup a spot with a BBQ and we should be able to find each other. Like I said write down my and ceffo's number and whoever else wants to post their number here we'll write em all down. There there daveo - we'll send you a snag .. altho it might be a bit cold even if its overnight bag

Looks like we've moved threads too_much. Let's consider this "EOI" thread closed and move to the thread 2 posts above this one as our details are now sorted out. -

Masks don't help. You need a proper respirator. -
LOL bong and blueberry. FYI that blueberry series of gum rocks. If you ever have a chance to purchase muscat, blueberry and the other gums in that series get them. They don't last long but mighty tasty. When cleaning my stuff (door trims, carpets, seats etc) I found a 100, a 50, and a 1 yen peice as well as a really nice screwdriver, some needlenose pliers, gum, used tissues (eww), some random unidentified peices of something and a helluva lotta zip ties.. haha

Oil catch can. From what I know it's like an oil catch tank but it's a can instead of a tank so it's smaller. As far as I can tell the pipe never has any oil flowing from it.. I'm not too sure to be honost what's mean to come out that pipe. I assume its oil but I can't imagine under what circumstances it would come out (i guess if the catch can/tank is full of gunk?) But yeah I'll speak to some more mechanically minded people than I and see what I need to do.

Lol. I assume the aim was to blow it up? ...orr.....? I'm thinking of getting some larger injectors also after reading up some setups that also run this turbo at the power levels I'd like to have - but mostly for safetys sake. My theory is if a 550cc has a clog, it flows less then say a 760 with a clog.. My further question is with larger injectors that aren't flowing more? (ie they're just larger but not pumping more fuel in on that map) will it affect fuel economy? and is my theory that larger injectors would have an easier time with flowing fuel whilst being clogged? I'm 50/50 thinking this at the moment cos on the other hand I guess the injector is just capable of flowing more - if it's not flowing more then if it gets clogged flowing 400cc (say) equivalent of fuel then it don't matter how big it is it's still blocking 400cc worth of flow.... if that makes sense.

OK OK. Not really wanting to take over from too_much_boost cos this is really his idea and show but because I'm an impatience little shit I will re-iterate what has been said here already. :Pimp2: Location: is Lane Cove National Park - I don't know where exactly too_much wanted to meet once in the park so that specific factor I'll leave it to him to clarify. For those of you who want info on it. This is the NPWS info on the park- http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/parks....y=N0083&Type=XN I believe there is a $7 entry fee. For those who want to know where it is- http://www.whereis.com.au/whereis/home.jsp type in/select- Street name: lady game drive Places of interests: parks and reserves Suburb or town: lane cove This will show you the entrance more or less - when it asks you which suburb to select just say "Chatswood West" and zoom out a little. If you know how to get to chatswood it's fairly straight from there at the very worst it's 10-15 from there so if anyone gets lost and they can get to Chatty but dono the rest call me on 0410 532 548 and I'll come up to lead you to the park. For those wanting to meet at Homebush: Some guys will meet at Homebush for those of you who are coming down to Lane Cove way from out Homebush way so you can all ride together. sky80 and ceffo have said meet out there. One of you guys please specify a specific place and time out there please and everyone who wants to go that way I suggest you post up now and let sky80 and ceffo know and also probably swap some numbers so you can let em know if you're running late! What we're doing: Looks like we're init for a BBQ. That's sweet. Organisation time - at the moment we're looking at around under 10 people? So if we cater for 10 we'll be ok. 1- snags 2- onions an shieeet 3- bread 4- drinks 5- bbq equipment (oil, tissues, plates, cooking implements etc) 6- bacon.. mmm baacon 7- everything i've forgotten.. what else do you have at a barbie? Who wants to bring what? If we all chip in $5-10 we can easily cover it. We need volunteers to bring- 1- Esky with assorted drinks in them - cans would be easier but bottles cheaper (whoever takes this up let me know so I can bring disposable cups if needed). If noone volunteers for this I'll just bring a case of coke and a case of solo but you'll regret them not being in the esky 2- snags, steaks, bacon n onions(or whatever other stuff we're chuckin on) - whoever wants to do the butcher+vege shop thing please let us know - again need volunteers cos I DON'T have a damn esky. 3- bbq cooking equipment - OK OK you JUST need to bring the tongs and spatula/burger flipper thing and oil and butter. I WILL bring plastic plates and tissues!!! 4- condiments/dressings/marinades/salads - any hippies here? if so someone volunteer for this please If you want to volunteer for one, a couple, or all of these duties that's ok too. Remember the less people the easier it will be for payment (ie. one person gets paid = easier) On the other hand if you don't like how i've split it down split it your own damn way and lets get some commitments cos the weekend will be upon us - we'll end up a the bbq spot having paid to drive in and not have any meat :chop: . That's basically my attempt at event management. I'm sure I've forgotten stuff and not catered to everyone's every wish so please o' please let the rest of us know so we can get this stuff down pat! Meanwhile please someone with an esky and some meat experience (ie. can cook and knows what good meat looks like :Owned: ) bring the meat please. There are plenty of shops 10-15mins away from the meet spot too so we can meet and a couple of us can do a quick run down to the shops if this is the way we wanna go lets express ourselves now also -

What is with idiotic names for cars??
someonestolecc replied to Ronin 09's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I like the J-names much better. They don't try to cool-ify it they just recognise it's just a name and build the brand image otherways. -
If it's illegal then insurance wouldn't cover it no matter who's name it was under since it's duty of disclosure in good faith. Which means you have to tell them anything you know that you can reasonably think might affect their insurance of you < quite a simple concept really. Insurance at 17 = doubt it. JustCars (for people I know who are older than you and been driving longer with the same car) seem to offer around the $5000-5500 mark with about a $4000 excess (or thereabouts - for me it was about $6000). I doubt anyone else would insure you. Also you can't put it under your mums name cos then you're not covered. You need to be a nominated driver to be covered. When you're nominated they quite simply give you the same price as if it was in your name (as it always goes by the youngest/highest risk driver). My mate is 21 and he doesn't insure his cos he can't. He's never had a speeding ticket. Never crashed. Totally stock car. Good luck.
