Hehe superspit. That's it mate. If I had a turbz my first car the tree I wrote my first car into would have been my gravestone. AE86 would a great first car. Always can transplant a fat engine into it later and use it for drift/track work. And if I was getting a n/a sporty car I'd have to go the silvia or 180. my 2c.

Don't lose hope. I'd be looking at it closer but I'm after a 4door r32, not r33. Although there are r33's im open to. (1/1000000 chance). Good luck with sale.

GTiR - regretful sale

Price? Rego? Kms? Pictures please? -
Hello, Just wondering how much people pay for a rb20det recon. And if there are any recommendations in Sydney? I am looking at importing a car and I'm expecting a thrashed engine that will die within a year perhaps so I'd like to know if it's worth to recon a rb20det OR spending extra cash and getting a rb25det with gearbox put in OR rb20det frontcut transplant from an imported frontcut? Also if I went that route will I need the driveline too or is the driveline from the r32 good enough for the job of a rb25det? Finally how much does a turbo cost to recon and any recommendations in Sydney? Thanks guys.

Well if only the sub is hooked up to the amp and yet all other speakers (I'm assuming they'd be then hooked up to the HU) are cutting out then theres no reason to think it's the sub thats busted. If all the speakers cut out, but the sub stays on (even though the driver cuts out) AND the head unit stays on I'd find that quite strange. I would say it's quite strange if the HU stays on but doesn't produce any output. I wonder if it's possible the current is dropping enough for the HU to be unable to produce output but not enough for it to turn off. I've never seen that happen and don't know if it's possible. When your mate gets back see if it happens above a certain volume. This might give you a clue to this fact. Good luck - let us know how it goes slash when he gets back.

Which 6.5" Splits to buy?
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Thanks for the reply guys. Bogan which Alpines are they? It's really had to tell from the Alpine webpage which is suited to what. The Alpine SPR-176A and Alpine SPX-177R are the two from alpine I would be looking at so far. I usually listen to hip hop, trance, breaks. I like heart thumping bass but I will also take SQ over SPL if it's a choice. I just like to have my heart revived by the stereo if I can't find those little electrical plate things I've always thought if I had the money I'd like to have the (unattainable) goal of creating the club experience in a car. Fhrx - I've been admiring your work recently and I'm wondering if I could get a roundabout price for some work I'd like to do? I usually install my own systems cos I prefer to save money but if possible I'd like to get some stuff done professionally and if it makes a saving of money I'd like to do some of the work myself. Would you consider listening to my plan and advising for the parts for the bits I could do myself so they "fit" with the bits I'd like done by yourself? (as well as sourcing some things for me) - If it's an all or nothing thing that's fine also -
Are JIC Coilovers any good?
someonestolecc replied to NYL83R's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Mist - Thanks. I'll keep that in mind because a lot of the r32's I'm looking at have japanese coilovers. http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/fact_shee...line_R32GTS.PDF Thats the kit I was looking at getting. Obviously I'd talk to them about what I needed etc but I have budgeted for the whole thing. So if it's got some teins or something no point getting p-u bushes? Would you be recommending using coilovers or seperate springs and shocks and bushes etc? -
I have a job, I can afford a loan, I don't save, I pay interest, I get my liner now, I have something I enjoy greatly for the next 3 years of my life I'm tied into Sydney. I am a sheep. We're all insignificant. We live in a capitalist materialistic society. I can't help equating contentedness with materialism. My wellium of choice is a r32. (... and I hope I can find one a white 4 door one with a rb25det in it.) WOOHOO!

If all the speakers are hooked up to the amp try to plug some directly into the HU. If all speakers/woofers cut out- Check all the wires to each speaker/driver. If they short it will cut-out from the HU. If it's just speakers connected to the amp that cut out- Make sure your groundwire isn't jumping around and it's in securely attached. Also make sure it's the same guage as your power cable. Make sure your 'remote" (usually blue) is connected properly and getting current. If it's falling out or jumping around your amp might be being told the HU is off. Also - if your HU lights cut out (ie. the power to your HU cuts out as well) then you may not have enough current to your HU in which case it's the incorrect power cable you're hooked into or ground wire is lose. Other than that if all your speakers are hooked up to the amp and you can't be bothered hooking up some speakers to the HU I would put the amp in the car where you can keep an eye on the light and see if it's cutting out. Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes.

Which 6.5" Splits to buy?
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
CKill - Well I priced those and you're right. If I bought them I couldn't buy my subs hehe They must sound great. The Hertz ones are underpriced aren't they? I mean they're underpriced compared to the other two... They'd be comaprable to the lower range boston rc60's aren't they? Also how do the Focal Polyglass v2 series 6.5" components go ? -
You should sound deaden if it rattles.

I'm still trying to figure out how much a good price is. Mostly in aus i think people ask anything from $14k-20k Import wise you could probably get away cheaper but you'd be pushing it in terms of quality any less than 11k. There is an article what to look out for for buying skylines on this forum if you search around. Ehm - there *are* plenty of thrashed ones around there. I don't know exactly how you'd know if it's good or not.. Get it checked by your mechanic. Personally I'm looking for a 1989 to import because it means it doesn't have to be stock and there are a couple of other advantages. My flatmate has a 1993 r32 that came in before the new compliance scheme he got it for $17k with a muffler and aftermarket rimms (pretty much stocker). Other than that - checkout as many as you can and don't buy the first 25. Then you'll probably know what to look for - and then read up here especially in the for sale and see what other people ask. My finding is the majority of people on this forum are extremely helpful and knowledgable so it helps to read their stuff. Good luck.

Which 6.5" Splits to buy?
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Thanks for the advice - will add them to my list hehe I've heard focals are excellent - if i was getting into that sorta SQ I'd be spending $2-3k for the rest of the setup minimum? Whilst i'd *may* be able to afford the splits I wouldn't have the amp and subs and sub amp to run the rest to make it worthwhile (in my mind anyways). Already bought a pioneer 7650 (that sounds about right). Slowly building her up -
Hello, I'm interested in getting some 2 way splits for the front. 6.5" is probably the right size for me. Will be running from a Pioneer GMX414 amp (4x60) with some Phillips 6.5" splits at the back for rear fill. If the front ones don't get enough kick to them that way I will run the rear ones from the headunit and bridge the amp for 2x140 to the front. At the moment I have a 10" noname sub and a generic amp but will be replacing probably with a decent 12" and decent amp. (If that's enough for a r32 4 door.. i think it should be). Anyways - I need to know which splits I'm going to audition before going to the shop cos I need to make sure they have them on a soundstage. I have basically been thinking of looking at these splits and would like to know your experiences with them, and if you have any other comparable ones that may be worth looking at also. Currently I'm looking at MB Quartz DSE216 .. i think they're 6.5" and Boston Acoustics RC620 6.5" Then I need to find myself some pods or think of a way to mount them nice in the doors with deadener etc but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Please let me know what you think guys, or if you have other comparable ones I can look at.. ta!

Donation Sale : Hid Kits
someonestolecc replied to MYGTST's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Who makes the bulbs and ballast? I've been reading a few articles.. isnt 8000k = black light? (ie useless for driving and probably around ultraviolet). -
Are they approved for CAMS events etc? (Scuze my ignorance). Also where would you get the rails from? Is there any chance of having a look at the seats? (either through another seller or somewhere that may stock them) ? Thanks - they look great too!

Are JIC Coilovers any good?
someonestolecc replied to NYL83R's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Can the whiteline handling pack co-exist with coilovers or has to be used with springs and shock setup? -
SuperGimp - The NSW Ombudsman's report I was reading there is an estimate thing where they are allowed to estimate your speed and give you a ticket. In court it would come down to your barrister, is that worth it? I don't know. It would help if it's your first offense and the copper hasn't given out many tickets etc. But you know how courts can go. "This officer of 15 years has successfully issued over 2000 speeding infringement notices. He is highly decorated in local donkey porn and has blah blah blah". OR "This officer of 5 weeks has issued only 3 traffic infringements and this is his first ticket. He has not received his training nor is he a highway patrol qualified officer, my client has never received a ticket...." blah blah blah. As you can see.. For 2 points or whatever it is is it really worth it? Good luck either way tho.

practice practice practice. buy new clutch. practice practice practice... and so on and so forth. Ideally you want the hardest rev you can drop without wheelspin.. add about 200rpm and adjust clutching accordingly.. (basically what was said above cept another way of thinkigna bout it). Then just practice as you go along.

whats an organic? hmm - my mate got charged $800 for that installed. Is there a way you can work out if you engine makes x amount of rwkw then how many lb pressure plate you would need?
-
I think a first car for everyone should be a manual gemini. (i really do!) I have no idea how much non turbz go for. checkout all the places that sell. tradingpost, carsales, carpoint, directimported.com.au prestigemotorsport.com.au etc Also I wouldn't bother with a non-turbz skyline especially a r33 but that's just me (i've never been in one and i dont like r33)
