From what I have heard, BP Ultimate and Synergy 9000 from Mobil are the best with 98 octane, Optimax is rated up to 98 octane and contains more deposits. I have found them all to be good but would not use any fuel from other suppliers.

The power to weight laws were introduced months before i got mu p's many years ago, I obeyed them and managed to drive cars that were faster than the typical illegal cars (like 6cyl cortinas and v8 commodores), without any undue problems from the police. If you drive a turbo skyline on your P's you are asking for it. A naturally aspirated skyline is plenty fast for an inexperienced probationary driver, and shows maturity in accepting this fact. Don't get me wrong, I deal with many probationary drivers and share their enthusiasm in the world of high performance cars, but this is real life not NFS. At the end of the day some police will know enough to book you for power to weight and some will not, on the other hand some cops will see 'Turbo' and dick you anyway. If your fuel pump flows more then there will be a pressure increase at the injectors resulting in more fuel being injected. Therefore the idle is richer and will change the way the engine idles. Whenever you change the boost, fuel system, or intake (Intercooler) you need the ability to tune the engine to achieve ideal air fuel ratios. This is why aftermarket computers and fuel computers like the safc are so popular. I need one for my car and the only mods i have so far are increased boost and a cat back exhaust.

Have you tried resetting the ECU? If it is running in safe mode due to an intermittent problem this may clear it up...... Worth a try

If it does it when it the air temperature is cold, it is overboosting and giving a fuel cut, you should probably run a lower boost setting when this happens. this happens to my car at partial throttle when it is cold, if i give it full throttle it is ok as the boost bleeds off enough to stay in the safe zone. or it is something completely different!!
