  1. Thats pretty awesome response, almost unbelievable as a mates S15 I drove didn't even spool that well on the stock turbo. Even on the RB30DET's you only see 5psi by 3000rpm and then ~3600rpm or so what ever boost you throw at it. But then again boost is a measure of inlet restriction.
  2. Good find.. Looks like the GT35r .63 has some good potential.
  3. Good stuff fatty. lol Looks awesome. Be sure to grab some vids of it on song.
  4. In theory the rb30 should be stronger as it has a longer rod and better rod to stroke ratio, as a result there is less rod sideload. Here in Adelaide one bloke pushed his stock rb30 bottom end to 370 something rwkw, another I know of I think on this board was pushing 340 ish rwkw and another in adelaide pushing 312rwkw on his $50 300,000km rb30. As with all RB's the trick is to keep rev's in check.
  5. Maybe they have forgot to renew.
  6. Well thank you for clearing it up. Now please extrapolate on how it spools.......... A 'real' GT35r .7 comp .63 turbine I would expect to be all in by 4000 on an rb25. How does yours compare?
  7. Don't do it simply isn't good enough.. What is their reasoning? These engine builders only stating 'don't do it' are, as you call it, being a chop. Since when don't the 30's hold anywhere near as much boost as the 25's? Your source of information is seriously talking out of their arse. Go back and tell them so. The peak power made is restricted by the head; however average power is up. The turbo spools earlier, gets on full boost earlier and simply pulls harder everywhere in the rev range. As with all the rb's stock rods and pistons with the 'correct comp ratio' can be pushed to 300rwkw, much over that and you want to look at forged rods, pistons etc. Your missing one critical part... The full length oil pump crank collar drive. The early RB's (R32 RB20DET, R32 RB26DETT, R33 RB25DET Series 1) all run a half length oil pump crank collar drive, these are well known as being the weak spot of any early RB. A good heinz balance, full crank collar, crack test and it won't have issues to 7500rpm UNLESS there is a flaw within a rod that is missed. This is with any motor. Much over that consistently (track) and I would seriously consider an aftermarket balancer such as an ATI item, as you would do so with any RB. Regarding high revs and longevity; the higher you rev ANY motor the quicker it will die. Gibson motorsport back in the days of their R32 GTR in Bathurst limited revs to 7000rpm.
  8. satanic, List your mods.
  9. So your definitely not running the usual RB style turbine housing. It must be something along the lines of a VLT housing. OR... have you miss-used the world 'highflow'? Highflow uses your origional turbine and comp covers. As you are running an ext gate I think it would have been silly for GCG to machine up a T3 .63 when garrett sell a T3 .63. I think you will find it isn't a highflow but rather a good ol' genuine GT35r .63. Got the receipt? Would be keen to see how they have worded this highflow which clearly isn't a highflow.
  10. I'd think its safe to say the optimax extreme containing the lesser ethanol will only slightly affect afr's.
  11. stasis, depends on where you are, here in Adelaide Vortex is only 95Ron.
  12. This thread isn't about the price of the fuel its about the performance of it. But anyway.... I'll walk up with my coles fuel discount docket in hand every time I fill up. Boost98 appears to perform better than PULP 98 yet it is a few cents cheaper. I would hope that by now all of your fuel lines etc would have been replaced. Mine have. Why? Mine began to crack quite badly due to age. The Nissan ecu's of this era are not this smart. They don't remember where (load/rpm) the car has previously pinged. They work on a basis of it it pings under 4500rpm (from memory) instantly pull some timing, then forget about it. As already stated, this and fuel like it requires a tune to suite, running it in your stock ecu'd mildly boosted rb isn't going to do much at all. My self, I run a PFC. This may also be why Shell are upgrading the servo prior to the use of this fuel. But that is speculation on my behalf.
  13. The Gt35r turbine wheel is too large to fit in to any of the hitachi/garrett internal housings that I know of. I would assume you are running external gate?
  14. http://www.sdi.qld.gov.au/dsdweb/v3/docume...%20E10%20afr%22 Some of the pics towards the end are a tad scary.
  15. hrmm I was under the impression ethanol was a slower burning fuel. Due to its oxygen content it also has a more complete burn. Due to its higher RON its able to handle a little more ignition timing that gets us closer to the minimum best torque ign timing that us with turbo's are never really able to get close to. Again, using more of the fuel in the combustion chamber that essentially translates to increased torque/power. I haven't actually done any reading up on ethanol fuels.. I might do so now so I'm not talking crap.
  16. Either way with the ign. on and car not started your should have a 12v feed running to each injector. When I wired in my inj. resistor pack this was so.
  17. yes Sava's are nasty pieces of crap. They were so damn slippery even compared to the el cheapo simex's.
  18. Well I was going to drop the Boost98 idea and wait for the extreme 100 gear but after driving today it appears at the higher the boost level requires .... 3degree's retard to stop det from the previous boost98. I think i'll give this boost98 gear a go. I'll have a chat to shaun see when I can sort out a bit of dyno time to do the back to back.
  19. I'm running a 4.5yr old Bosch 910 thats done somewhere around 140,000-150,000km's. Its a little long in the tooth. I'm going to have shaun fit an 044 intank as he is able to get them in there and keep them quiet. Bl4ck32's 044 is silent compared to my 910.
  20. In short.. the rb's are tough nuts. Providing fueling and ignition are correct and its not detonating the motor will hang in there for longer than you own the car. Unless you have really bad luck and break an oil pump.
  21. I only ran it for half a tank so I don't know if there would be any long term problems.
  22. Agreed.. We are going to see more and more of these incidents/posts as the R33's are becoming dirt cheap now. Affordable for young P platers and the like.
  23. Definitely worth rebuilding than grabbing another s/h box. If you blokes follow my advice the rb25 box's will not be as wanted and prices will lower for us R32 mongrels. lol
  24. I ended up using the Boost98 up as quickly as possible as it made my external bosch pump noisy. Some who have a bosch pump may know of the sound I speak of. It usually only makes the louder buzzing, airating type noises on hotter days after a long drive. This fuel for what ever reason made the pump do it all the time. I didn't have any luck from a seat of the pants point of view richening up the mixture, dialing in more ign (managed to get another 3degree's in) and feeling more go, it still felt not as rev happy. However.... Leaving ign and fuel as it is and dialing in more boost saw another 2psi being pushed in before I began to see signs of det and it definitely did feel better. Dropping BP 98 straight in after saw increased levels of det with the increased boost level. The fuel pump also instantly shut up and has stayed quiet since. Without a wideband I can't do anything.. Boost98 really does need to see the dyno. If it wasn't for the fuel pump noise when running Boost98 I would stick with it.
  25. Fly_With_Sky, Sorry buddy but I'm LMAO. You are one paranoid bloke.
