Hi ppls, I am soon to rip the head off, replace valve springs, headgasket and oil restrictors. I attempted to remove the oil restrictors out of a spare rb30e I have in the shed. I failed. How are these removed? Is it possible to remove and install new without removal of the motor/sump? I have seen other (non rb) blocks where the oil restrictor have a thread located in the top section of the restrictor, this allows easy removal.

Gear Box Grinding Noise At Adle In Netural
Cubes replied to PHATR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Seriously don't drive it. If its still quiet pull the box out and drop a spigot bush in there. Its not worth the risk of ruining a perfectly good box for a $2 part. -
I'm far from a mech. Reading and a little bit of visualisation is all I have done. So... what is your power goal?
-
I'm in. R32. My rear wheels pull in towards the front of the guard on the dyno. Looking underneath as its on power I can see the subframe shift forward. Quite scary to watch.
-
I don't know what your power level would be. Exactly as I said.. One to suit your power level; being a larger motor doesn't make a difference to exhaust selection. Airflow = power. Push more boost in to a smaller motor or make it rev higher and yer.. more power so bigger exhaust. See.. It was a silly question. What is your power goal? 2.5" is generally ok for 200rwkw. 3" for up to 300rwkw 3.5" for over 300rwkw All though you can still push a 3" to 350rwkw.

Bl4ck32.. I think you have got used to it. But as you said once we replaced the spigot it did improve slightly from what it was. I jump in it and its still damn noisy in every gear, I can even feel it in reverse. A bit like my old rb20t box, I didn't realise how bad it was until it finally let go and was replaced with a quiet box. Feels like a new car. -
How Hard Is It To Drive A Skyline?
Cubes replied to blah_blah's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The skyline is indeed all about the driving experience. My uncle bought a 250kw Clubsport 6speed man that I found rather ummmm... boaring. -

If there's no spigot it doesn't matter, the box is stuffed. It will be noisy in all gears and if driven the damage will send vibrations through the car. Going by bl4ck32's box. -

When my R32 GTST was making 152rkw with a few little mods it was running 205 Bridgestone Donuts. In the wet leaving corners (unless it was that shinny light grey type surface) it would not break traction. Those tyres were pretty damn good for 205's, the diff was also in very good condition at that time. Now its buggered. -
Awesome.. Some time or another I would love to grab the dimensions of the radiator. Apparently they are 3core and drop in to the R32's, or was that the cima's.
-
Keep it as harmfull stirring ppls.

Interested in this also as running a few thermo's does tax the alt. fairly hard. I have clocked 204,000km's, I am expecting to replace an alt soon. I've attached pics of my 1992 R32 ALT. Once warm my alt drops to 13.3volts under full load high rpm. Always check volts once warm as alt's tend to read higher volts when cold. i.e 13.8-14v.

General traffic and city driving the skylines are very easy to drive due to their short gearing. You are able to idle along at almost slower than walking pace and not have to dip the clutch. My prior VS 5ltr 5speed was a pain in the arse due to its long gearing, I always had to ride the clutch in traffic. Real pain in the arse. A fairly standard r33 or r32 is not exactly a weapon, power is linear and predictable. Wind the boost up and its a different story, only then will you feel a little nervous leaving a slippery wet corner when you know a tinny little more throttle will have it snapping up on boost. You get used to it fairly quickly and begin to get bored with the power. Then you will start looking at wanting 250rwkw+, and the money spending begins. lol Even when the Skylines do break out in a wet wheelspin and send you side ways I've found the Skylines to be rather easy to handle, they tend not to want to flick around and tank slap like the old VS I owned, when that thing was in a power sideways slide it was a handfull. The skylines love nice long smooth slight snakey corner exits. -
lol... Yes.. it would make you a little nervous.

Damn I hate that... Straight over my head, maybe i'm tired. lol What ever it is you must be thinking of the southerner's and or the sicilians. heh

I was getting the same as u with the new injectors, new o2 sensor but untuned pfc with the rb30det. Displacement doesn't appear to make a big difference from 2-2.5-3ltrs..

I'm with wrxhoon on this one.. ---- If the spigot is not there do not drive it as there is no support for the input shaft. You have most definitely damaged the input shaft bearing if not furthur down the line. A mate of mine accidently forgot to remove the auto spigot and use a manual item. We replaced the spigot, instantly it was better but still very grindy and vibraty. His box has since been driving around for ~1year, still hanging and grinding in there. -
Thats it... Its well worth just plodding along and sticking it out.

After a tune I noticed no difference in fuel economy going from my rb20det to the rb30det. Depending on how the car is driven I can get as low as 10.6L/100km's, ~470km's from full until the red light for local 50-60km/h driving. I don't drive in peak hour so no doubt fuel usage will rise if I were to. Prior with dirty injectors, old o2 sensor and no tune (pfc base map) I was getting as low as 14L/100km's. At first with the dirty injectors I replaced the o2 sensor.. Did nothing, replaced injectors perfect. Please do a search.. Remember to select to 'search any date' from drop down selection box.

R31turbo, I'm doing DB2... if its anything like db1, db2 will suck. No cp2a for me.. Already done, DN. I've got a couple little bits to tidy up then I'm all done. I've seen you (didn't know it was you then) in the past around car park 2. Pokie... Blood lines pokie, blood lines. yes Italian is wog.. Some also consider european to be wog.

I don't believe the 'what are you' question should be interpreted as 'where were you born.' Generally 99% of the people I come across interpret the question as 'what is the nationality of your family PRIOR to the first born in Australia' lol.. At the end of the day every one has wog in them. Wogs ruled the world.. Then they got greedy...
-
Are you aboriginal?

Half wog.... I prefer soccer & rugby over afl any day also. Afl is a little boaring to watch. Talking about sport...... Who's in to Boxing? Danny the green machine vs Anthony the knob head. Maybe organise an SAU bbq at some ones house with a big tv and foxtel. All chip in, shouldn't be too expensive for the fight.
