thats fine with me as i feel that everyone there was a winner as they all love and cherish their skylines.. and travelled from near and far to hang out with other liners and check out everyones machinery... to have a winner, you must also have losers.. and i dont think anyone with the same mind frame and passion for a given car is a loser. the trophys were pretty though. actually i think there is more than one that feels this way... not to take anything away from your audi... clearly you've spent alot on the exterior and you dig it, and you think its fantastic, and thats great, and its great that duncan picked yours as best exterior.. had it been autosalon i would have no quarms what-so-ever.. i personally didnt take any notice of it... my vote for best exterior wouldve gone to the Drift School S14, with the stitches and the kind of grubbiness that comes with a hard core car. thats what floats my boat and thats just how the world works, everyone is different. given that the original call out was that the guys wanted all types of skylines to enter as it wasnt a "show and shine" persay.. they didnt just want show quality cars they wanted all sorts of skylines from all walks of life.. i expected the best exterior award to go to a clean original skyline.. like kev's hakosuka. had the shoe been on the other foot, and one skyline turned up at an audi club show and took out best exterior.. i think the response would be the same. cheers Linton

i think its plain ghey.. its like with any knock offs though.. whether it be Vork wheels... or a LV knockoff handbag.. its no difference. someone has paid for a genuine LV handbag, and you want to look like them and have people think you are cashed up, so you buy one from ebay.. what this does though... is not lift you up to the point where people think YOU have a genuine LV handbag... but bring the real one down as being thought of as fake first.. real second. everyone should be happy and proud of what their car/item is... and not feel inadequete when the higher spec models are around.. putting a gtr badge on a gtst, or a vspec sticker on a gtr, or a GT2 sticker on a 911 is insulting to those who have forked out and bought the higher spec model. making a replica of an original is a different story... there are bugger all of the older cars around.. so if you are making a KPGC10 replica, GTHO replica, GT500 replica, etc.. then i think thats ok, as you want it to be as original as possible, it will only mean something to you, you arent trying to take away from the original car, you are trying to emulate it as Terry has said.. not trying to pass off, or class your 2wd single turbo skyline as the big brother 4wd, twin turbo skyline. just dont do it.

good job by everyone.. was a good day. great to meet new faces and catch up with old ones.. i had high expectations as the last sau show n shine i went to was the one at the central coast in 2005... it was awesome.. its a shame that car shows are like weddings.. there is always one... or 5 idiots that are all you remember from the day. i wasnt a fan of the awards... being that it was an skyline show.. i think the rx7 was well deserved for best NON skyline.. all the other awards shouldve gone to skylines.. i think best interior shouldve gone to either the winfield car or one of the drift school cars though. Lack of FTW!

Johnbarry's R32 Gtr

where... who.... and how much?? -
if i could go back and grow up and live in the 50's i would in a heartbeat. has all this technology you speak of really made our life any simpler?? lazier yes.. not necessarily simpler though... necessity is not the mother of invention, laziness is. i do not believe in the preservation of human life.. if it is your time to go, its time to go.. humans are of no more worth or value than bacteria or cancer. what do i find unethical about real estate investing?? do you not feel a tad depressed when you see an old house that has been around for 50 years with many happy stories and seen many familys grow and move on, with a nice big yard etc, get knocked down and turned into a twin block for the sole purpose to make money by having two houses on one block. do you not find it a tad depressing that people like myself, who just want to go to work, buy a 3 bedroom house with a garage in a nice safe neighbourhood, and be content with living.. cant buy a house at a reasonable price without having to fight with money hungry real estate investors, who just want to buy the house to add to their portfolio, and rent it out for the same price as the loan repayment would have been?? i know not everyone wants to own a house.. some people like renting and some people want to live in units and apatments.. and thats fine.. i can dig that.. but i believe houses are to be made homes.. and peoples dreams should come true in their own house, and everyone should be able to buy a house for what its worth... not for what some investor is willing to pay. it seems strange to me, that a house that has stood for 50 years... the house hasnt changed, the ground it sits on hasnt changed, the materials of the house hasnt changed, the houses around it havent changed... then why can i buy that house for $300000 then in a year its magically worth $400000?? if i buy a block for $100000 and build a $150000 house on it.... why then can i sell that house for $400000??? i know there is inflation and the value of the dollar is constantly changing, but my wage hasnt changed for 2 years.. so the dollar is the same for me but to buy that house i now need 100000 more of them. that is just people making money off real estate, the house isnt worth that.... but because joe bloe down the road gets $400000 for his house, i put mine on for $400000, then everyone in the area puts theirs up for $400000.. and some investor comes along and he can afford to pay that and scoops up all the houses, i feel they are taking houses away from hard working people who just want to buy their own house to raise a family in.. then offering them back to them for a stupid amount of rent. things are worth whatever people are willing to pay.. like GTR's, people only want to pay 10g for an R32 GTR, yet a shitty old 4 door falcon that has no real claim to fame other than winning bathurst once.. is worth $800000 because some idiot is willing to pay that.. so everyone who owns a GTHO falcon thinks they are autmatically worth the same amount.. investors are willing to pay big bikkies for property, so the prices will go up and keep going up.. take the investors out of the equation and normal folk could pay what the house is worth and own their own house... therefore, the loan amount would be alot less, meaning cheaper repayments, less interest, which wouild make it easier on the family, they wouldnt have to work 2 jobs, or lots of overtime, which means less stress, more family time and more happy time for everyone.... they wouldnt have to struggle to make more money or find a better paying job just to pay for the simple things in life... or turn to drugs to cope with things.. there would be less anger, less depression and less broken familys or relationships. thats something everyone can benefit from. anyway, this is waaaaay off topic and i apologise for that.

i have a 3" kakimoto s/s exhaust... its got a very nice, throaty noise, but it is very quiet.. great for a street car. it has a big centre muffler and a reduction pipe in the cannon. have run it with the cat back off and no great performance difference was noticable.

thats a bit rough dont you think champ?? i work mon - fri, have an ageing skyline, and a 30 yr mortgage and i choose this as my life.. are you saying there is something wrong with that?? its not what you own or how much you earn.. its who you are and how happy you are. the higher you aim, the higher you fall.. its your choice. i love my skyline, i love my house, i dont care if i pay 4 times the house price in interest over the next 30 years because to me, having my own house is worth so much more than that so its a small sum to pay..and i love my skyline, it does everything i want it to do and i can change it to do whatever i want. i will never invest in shares, or in real estate. i dont think this is an ethical way to make money.. i may start my own business, but only to supply people with custom fabricated parts, not to make a fortune and find the tax breaks. you may look down on me because im one of the little people, and thats fine, ive worked hard and saved hard to get the little that i have.. i wouldnt have it any other way. to quote the great Darryl John Kerrigan.. "you cant buy what ive got!"

russman has gtr offset rims and they have a good fitment.. with stock gtst guards. theres pics somewhere.

gtc's on r32 = epic fail work meisters on r32 = epic fail. black te37s on r32 = major win!!! volk ce28's look phat too. for the amount of coin you are looking at spending, i think you could easily get some second hand if not new jap rims. and on a 32 17's look big if you have low profile 40 series tyres.. saving you some money over 18's.
-
reminds me of my old 33.. very nice dude. check ns.com for cheap wheels and tyres in 4 stud. make sure you get a good offset though.. stance makes the car!
-
aslong as the top of the tyre is inside the guard, they dont really hassle you.. their problem is that if you run over or hit someone and they roll down the side and hit the top of the tyre they can be sucked/pushed under the car.. so whether its alot of neg camber, stretched tyres, or flared/pumped guards.. you shouldnt need to worry much.. just dont be caught doing anything silly eh? if you see the big 4wds with their chunky as tyres sticking 3 inches out of the guards you can understand why... if you rolled down the guard off the bonnet the tyre would catch you and drag you down instead of bouncing off and hitting the road.. i usually run 235's on a 9.5 inch rim and this is within the tyre size range for this size wheel.. only just though.. so i just figured there wasnt really anything that they could do and ran with that. dont be fooled into thinking that its highly illegal and a death trap... this just isnt the case.. soo many people on here run stretched tyres and most sit out of the guards a little, and i never heard any of them complaining of being dead.

great thread champ... reminds me of the old saying "bad decisions make good stories!"

Getting A New Complaince Sticker
NZM.031 replied to NZM.031's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
roger that... i had that feeling... thats hella ghey though. -
hey gurus... im respraying my engine may and id like to know if its possible to get a new or remade pink compliance sticker?? mine has had the corner peeling since forever ago... which is annoying me.. i cant removed the sticker to reglue it though as the silver/pink backing is separating from the clear cover over it.. leaving some on the firewall and some on the clear. now im respraying the engine bay and ive taken the compliance and vin plates off.. i want to take the sticker off to do it properly, rather than mask around it and risk it looking ghey.. plus its starting to come off, so ideally id like to replace it anyway. can i ring the mob that did the compliance and get a new sticker??

check your chosen battery for CA and CCA... i found this the other day with a backhoe battery at work... the original one was 900CA... and i had one in stock that was the same size but 700CCA... cranking amps and cold cranking amps are different... dont know why, but cold cranking amps is about a 3rd lower than cranking amps.. iideally, you want just enough cca to get it going, as the bigger the rating, the bigger the battery, the bigger the battery the more weight you have in the nose. if you have a stereo and added in lighting etc.. you may want a bigger battery.. but if its bascially just gotta start the car, you want a small one.. 600cca is alot... and thats going to be a big battery.. 300 should be plenty.. and its a good size battery. a brand new z32 afm and wiring is about $350... but you will need a retune from someone like dr drift or a safc to run it.. i chose the safc and all up it cost me as much as a new R32 afm.. 350 for the afm, 200 for the safc. and it worked a treat. DO NOT BUY A 2ND HAND AFM!!!! at $300 brand new for a bosch z32 afm, it makes no sense to buy a 2nd hand jobby.
