  1. Anything adding additional friction to the car will make its fuel economy worse. E.g. under-inflated tyres will have more contact friction with the road, hence worse economy... If you oil is sludgy and full-of-crap then it is possible for it to slow down things in the box/engine/wherever and increase economy... I have a 235rwkw r33 and I get round 500km per tank when driving pretty normally, 550 in the highway... i had worse economy before I had the engine tuned. I have replaced my O2 sensor, replaced the vaccum lines, service with good oils every 5000km, check my tyre pressure once a week (or maybe once every couple when i'm lazy). Checking the ECU for fault codes is pretty important.
  2. I thought the title of this thread was "Greatest Driving Road In or Around Sydney" I dont see how a awesome driving road automatically implies shenanigans... Agree - people should not be proliferating the idea that speeding or any other dangerous behaviour on public roads, but I did not think that was the point of this thread.
  3. close friend in the community is a top rate draftsman, pm me your details and i'll pass them on

  6. firstly: Go and have a look at your nearest Repco shop secondly: If you want an exact answer you'll have to do better then "that castrol stuff"
  7. thought factory used 8w50w??? correct me someone please
  8. i believe the rule of thumb goes along the lines of: below the steering wheel height, doesnt impede vision, in a place that you cannot hit if thrown in a crash and where it doesnt impede your airbags.... So it looks fine. THat being said, coppers can pin you for anything they like really....
  9. Correct on both accounts. Factory speed limiter is 180km/hr, hence why the car cutout at that speed. Car has a rev limter which kicks in just after 7000rpm, or as you said, just into the red. Repeated bouncing the rev limiter is bad for the engine, touching once in a while shoudnt do too much harm, provided you maintain your car well and it hasnt had a trashed llife before
  10. For 200rwkw, a JJR split dump will be fine.
  11. xome rexes run more then 10psi standard as far as I know...
  12. i had this happen to me a couple of months ago after a long session on a dyno. I think the ECU gets a fault code in it and it doesnt clear without clearing the code with a diagnostic computer or resetting the ECU. Try giving it a reset and go from there.
  13. what are the guages? ones is obviously temp.... the other?
  14. It depends on your outlook. Your obviously modifying for more power.... So, turn the boost up to about 1bar, wait about 5 mins on full boost and your turbo with shit itself. Then you've given yourself a reason for the big shiny high mount you've always wanted No seriously, standard turbo should see no more then 10-12psi on a daily basis if it wants to live.
  15. well aren't you special
  16. i use mahle in my race mini and am very happy with the amount of punishment they have taken without any problems. All the help I can be
  17. Close, thats God's representative's country.
  18. damn straight! If you fit into a box, they'll treat you like you're meant to be in that box.
  19. I the 34 i your pic yours? If so, theres your problem buddy. Different coloured bonnets on an NA! Nice.... Mate your on your P's driving an import car that nearly everyone associates with being turbo... And your not allowed turbo, what you think is going to happen? THe cops are going to leave you alone, like everyone else? Hell no, you've made yourself more of a target... Most P platers regardless of their type of car get pulled over and given a bit of a go by the coppers every now and again. Its part of their scare you into being safe idea. Live with it or get a barina. Dont know the story about court, dont want to. But as far as I could tell the coppers would be thinking "hmm, 18yr old with a 34, court case and plates, something aint right here."
  20. my shed working on cars, or stanwell tops
  21. very interested in the front bar... is it fiberglass? if so is it cracked??? Where abouts in Sydney so I can come, look and hopefully buy?
  22. mine maxed in my 25 quite quickly, but we clamped the signal in the EMU and richened the mixture using the injectors after that...
  23. I hope some of the enlightened people out there can be of some assistance to me... I have recently tuned my EMU and had fantastic results using it. When it was initially was tuned I was using a different computer and had no issues. I recently bought a new latop and installed the software along with the v2.16 update... When I plug the EMU into the computer it keeps popping up with a screen asking me if I want to connect realtime, but here is the funny part it is already talking with the EMU as I can see data in the data logging function... This window keeps popping up asking me if I want to connect to the EMU, every 5-10 seconds even though I am already connected... Anybody had similar issues or know of why it would do this??? I have reinstalled the program to try and rectify this issue, but it has changed nothing.... Second issue is, immediately after installing the EMU my idle has gone a bit whack. It isn't idle hunting or doing anything abnormal like that, but when the air-con compressor kicks in the idle shoots to 1500rpm! When i leave the air-con off it behaves as it should... There was no problem before I installed the computer (hah installed-i used the adapter harness)... Anybody know which setting i should mess with to fix this??? Cheers and thanks in advance.
