  1. Thats a neat gain from the manifold and gate. Is the TR43i an older HG turbo?
  2. 72mm is tiny for a car breaking 7s! True testament to the potency of these turbos.
  3. Let it be known I have experienced this car and it was a dead set ballistic missile. Gears would wind out in the normal 'extremely fast car' manner, but each gear would account for a lot more than the usual 'fast car' speeds. IIRC 3rd gear was well over 180kmh and it got there like it had tiny short ratio. The most amazing part was the brakes, powering through 4th with less than 100m to stop I had to seriously consider if this was the end, but the car didn't even break a sweat. Paul, your car really got me buzzing, I couldn't stand still when I got out. Cheers.
  4. Any idea on the inducer size for the 99HTZ wheel Lith?
  5. Disagree. I have had no end of great experiences with xforce products, am running one right now.
  6. You could CNC a flange plate with ports the same size as the stock manifold ports, but with threaded holes for the T4 studs and countersunk holes for use of alen head bolts to fasten to the T3 flange. You wouldn't need to port them to be similar in size for it to be effective, as long as there was no hard edge in the flow path. Most quality manifolds these days have smaller collector discharge ports than the turbos entry (6boost, MXP), and they are known to work fine. Do it, Disco. Be a pioneer.
  7. Nope, thats not normal. It is a zero tolerance affair, you will need to fix this. If you plan to do any other work to the car I recommend you consider those options now. Removing the turbos is not a pleasant experience (or a cheap one if you are not able to do it yourself), so you should only plan to do this once. Not to say that you will need to change the seals again and again but the RS580 turbos are fairly ordinary in the grand scheme and changing to a better pair will require a re-tune. However, by the seems you are running these at a fairly 'stock' level and I am concerned your car is currently untuned. That could also result in a fair amount of damage.. It sounds like you may have just opened Pandora's box
  8. LOL Nahhhh, by the time the motor is warm enough to crack gate the snow will have melted and the gate unfrozen. Besides, one blast of that gate will blow anything out of the way lol
  9. Spoken like a man with years of experience.
  10. You are looking at spending 10k to have it pull hard.. You will spend a lot less if you get your stock turbo highflowed to the right profile, it will definitely give you the pull hard effect and will cost you a lot less. I reckon a Hypergear G3.5 highflow will do a good job of the desired task, the delivery will give monster pull without being a pig to drive. Before you ask, you will need a full 3" TBE, FMIC, fuel pump, injectors and an ECU at a minimum.
  11. I also believe the last time he updated on power output it was something like 240? So he's still waiting to see what his final output is. Otherwise your notes are spot on.
  12. I believe he is referring to Bradsm87 T4 TS .92 (IWG unused) with a single EWG.
  13. It was not me dropping hints that a T3 TS is missing from the range. And you were a little lazy with reading, as above.
  14. I'm just calling it how it is, and have been around long enough for people to know I mean no harm. If my comments make the man blush for a moment I will have achieved all that I intended
  15. Geoff is that an EFR specific housing? It looks like one of those stainless ebay housings for a GT30, milled to fit the EFR. If that is a specific housing that can be ordered? Or a custom made? It looks like one of these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stainless-Steel-Turbo-T3-Flange-Turbine-Housing-V-clamp-82-AR-for-HKS-GT3037-/151144520079?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2330ea598f&_uhb=1 Interesting to see that you still fancy yourself a Jedi, or at least some form of turbo dev whisperer. Chiming in to talk about a T3 TS IWG housing, most likely waving your hand as you type. Suddenly the peering eyes of turbo dev engineers will mindlessly repeat "the missing T3 twin IW" and they will make a Skyline specific housing, just for you. Because so many other popular performance cars come with a (partially) divided T3 flange......... Or perhaps you see yourself a trend setter, who can bring the automotive industry forward and then spur other manufacturers to produce T3 divided based turbo systems on their new gen cars. All funny when you don't take the time to read the last 2 pages, and ask the same question which has spurred your comments on peoples 'justifications'. Or perhaps you meant to contribute a hand wave, as our non-Jedi attempts would probably be getting us nowhere.
  16. Guys its called a 7163 lol. And don't call my stuff a boat anchor, my wants and plans for my car is no reason to be offensive.
  17. The larger ones do appear to be more expensive, but if you have a motor capable of 8374 potential I would say $1,000 is a small sum of money. Like you said bang for buck might not be there if you are not truly competitive with the car.
  18. US $420 for shipping? That is outrageous. RSP have not charged me a dollar over $150 USD for shipping on orders with MULTIPLE items including a turbo. Thats $150 USD for a turbo, gates, and other odds and ends all in the one box. Even that I thought was somewhat pricey, but the items would arrive in just over a week. Multiple members on this forum can confirm that RSP charge that sum for a turbo and it is delivered in roughly 7 business days. Let's just fix some expectations here... We don't need to pay $2,200 for a turbo and $420 to ship it. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-GENUINE-BORGWARNER-7064-EFR-SERIES-HIGH-PERFORMANCE-TURBOCHARGER-/121175171912?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c369a6348&_uhb=1 The above seller has a 7064 T3 .83 AR for $1,700 USD and $150 USD shipping. The seller has 31,000 sales with a 99.6% positive rating. Thats nearly $800 in savings, and considering the eBay add has a 'make an offer' function I would be disappointed if I couldn't knock $30 USD off the price, which WOULD make it a saving of $800 USD. *rant end*
  19. Its exactly the same for both of us. I already have a really high quality T3 manifold kit and simply need to pick my T3 flanged turbo. That being said, I feel the 7064 might not suit.. And the 7670 might be bigger than I want to go. I do want 500whp once everything is pushed to its edge, rather than having 600whp up my sleeve and pissing in the desired result. Its just a methodology I want to maintain in my build. In this case the 7163 is both a little heavier breathing AND has the mixed flow turbine which I am extremely interested in.. This flange swap is also an excellent idea because I can get a housing smaller than .83 AR and which will be friendlier on my SR. I am with Tom Tucker and will be a near instant customer if a 7163 that suits my needs is available (subject to real world affordability).
  20. Exactly. I am yet to see any evidence that they do have a bad spray pattern, just plenty of reports that they work well.
  21. My economy and cruise are sick lol oh well, can't beat the skeptics!
  22. AFR at the tail pipe I agree, comes out in the wash, but effect on the plug I disagree. The plug is in the very cylinder which you yourself said will have rich and lean zones, causing heat spots and therefore risk of detonation. That would show on the plug, rather than having a perfectly clean electrode and a nicely carbon dusted outer, especially after a very wide range of unforgiving driving.
  23. Well that's the thing. The pattern should directly effect the quality of the burn, but my plugs say my motor runs mint. I am not convinced they do have a bad pattern. I am more so thinking there is a fall back policy being made should they become pooey later in the life cycle. Sort of like an 'I told you so' for when you come and say 'my cars not right'.
  24. That looks like a Tial V band housing, do you have any pics of the process on a T2 EFR housing?
