Sport 2s better than Super Sports?! WHAT lol

Guys Scott has been discussing his car over a couple of threads, the setup is done... No need to discuss alternate turbo options etc. Just cams. Having only done a little research I am with Jez on the Tomei type B's. You don't need anything too massive to hit your targets, and a tried and tested combo seems like a safer option than trying a custom combo.

All good. I like your attitude a LOT better in this post! A tip: the best thing to do is to search first and read what has been said, usually you will work out what you want to know. If you find a thread that is mostly relevant to your question BUT doesn't answer all your questions, you should ask your question in there. The reason for this is so that future users will be able to find answers easier, rather than having to search across a multitude of threads. Of course, if you can't find anything of relevance you should then start your own thread. FYI the motor in your Series 2 Stagea is the same as what is found in an R34 GT-T (RB25DET NEO), so you will be able to use technical threads on that motor also. If you have any questions feel free to drop a PM, I am happy to help.

You cannot put a non standard turbo on the car without tuning it. To do this means you will also need a computer that is tunable, and you will need it tuned on a dyno. The cheapest possible outcome OTHER THAN replacing your stock turbo with another stock one would be to highflow your turbo, and to Nistune your ECU. The highflow will cost $960, a Nistune is about $1,000 at minimum supplied fitted and tuned. So it will cost you a bare minimum of $1,960 provided you can remove and install the new turbo yourself. You are right though, forums are for help. We have helped thousands of people before you asking the simplest of all questions. A five second search would have told you what I said above, and it would have done a little bit of respect to the people who have spent the last decade building this forum to be the knowledge base that it is. You can understand why you will get shut down if you ask a question almost EVERYONE has asked before. You should also accept that we will school new users on what is expected of them on this forum, so you can learn to actually get some value from it rather than being spoon fed. Furthermore, once you decide to spend the other $3,000 I mentioned in my first post on a proper intercooler, exhaust, fuel pump, boost controller, induction pipe, AFM and injectors you will also need another tune valued at a MINIMUM of $600. Also,if you are a little girl and cannot do the work yourself you should budget a couple of grand extra for labour on top of the above. But of course, car forums are typically aimed at grown men - and little girls should stick to being bent over by mechanics. I hope this was an eye opener for you, the forum needs more intelligent people to gain ranks and contribute, and less freeloaders just here to take a piss on everyones efforts.

A - did you search? B - do you have $5,000 to upgrade the turbo? C - now that you are confused about B you may want to A. I know that helps. Welcome to SAU.

Take up Jez on the offer and let him have a crack on the dyno. Don't risk your motor TRYING to make it ping on the road.

I can't think of a better tyre than a Michelin PSS.... The traction issue described is far from a fault of the turbo or the tyre (size/make).. Definitely a fault of the current alignment (or lack thereof)
-
Thats odd.. Have you checked cam timing on that motor Darren? just to make sure everything lines up to the marks that its supposed to?
-
This is what I meant sorry. I must have confused myself because this appears to be related to the compressor design, which is unrelated to a G3 entirely lol
-
No, no. I know its not VNT. I thought you said in the last couple of pages that something had been changed to increase flow? It helped another customers IWG result from memory.

IIRC Rajab racing do a few good RB30 things. Don't think their dyno would be over inflated, so thats a decent result. The spool seems close too, the run ends at 180kmh which I assume is 7000rpm. So.. 7000/180 x 100 = 3888 (3900). Normally tuners dont rev a normal 25 to 7, the runs end at 6600 or so which would mean the spool is even better than that. Nice result. I am guessing this is with your new T3 architecture?
-
Can you put this into one of those stainless Tial housings?? If so sort out the actuation mechanism and I will put one on the car ASAP.
-
Please share yours when the time comes also, a friend has a sideline RB30e+t which is considering similar options too.
-
Awesome work Stao! Another track car proving the reliability of your awesomeness, and this one a pro drifter! Can't beat a reputation like that!

If they are genuine Bosch and not a rebuilt item they shouldn't have an issue. Higher pressure test time.
-
What brand injectors are they? I highly doubt the waste spark will have anything to do with it. At what cycle are the injectors pulsing? 360 or 720? Make sure its on 720 IMO. I'm still mostly concerned about the injector seals, more than anything else.
-
olololol nice. Am planning to put a 10cm one on my brothers shitma motor. Just in the process of building the new motor now.
-
If the AFs are all over the shop when boost starts to come on you better look into all things related.. Try smoke test it at 15-20psi and try a different set of injectors. To me its either going to be an intake leak which is very close to the ports/injectors or its going to be a fuel control issue. So maybe injector seals giving out, FPR or pump failing under load or injectors failing under equalized pressure. Time to start fiddling with the above.
-
Its got to be electrical. Can't be mechanical man. has jez tried just flat out doubling the dwell? Dwell is hard to work out what's best at times. failing that what are the AFs doing under boost when it cuts? Does it chop and change or is it consistent?
-
Sorry I did mean with the housing. Last time I emailed them it was about that much, and they were willing to discount about between 1-200 for the housing. Not enough in my eyes but oh well.
-
Why are you looking at 28 size variants? You already run a GTRS, I don't anticipate it will get phenominally better on a motor already too big for the turbine. Please have a look in the Hypergear thread and see the most recent result. Tuned by DVSJEZ, its an auto with his SS2 (74/60mm), using a .82 IWG bolt on housing. Surely you can consider more than Garrett......

Bahaha nice, is that a 10 or 12cm?
