Heat expanded? Sounds like the fitter didn't know what they were doing. There have been several members now that have fitted these on R33's and R32's with no complications This has been covered in 3 threads already - When removing the factory front pipe to fit any aftermarket unit you need to check the alignment of the rest of the exhaust system when its all back together and adjust as needed as its common that you shift the rear section of the exhaust during fitting so the hangers and mounts move which can cause the system to knock around a little

I have seen GTR's producing ~400awkw still retaining the factory intercooler so for the power levels you have mentioned you won't have any problems
