  1. LOL, bugger. I did a 1:49.3 on Saturday but sat out Sunday with a gearbox leak. So were you in the black S13? I just watched your lap side by side with mine and its funny that they are identical everywhere. I thought we could be stronger in differt sections but they seem even evreywhere My car was 1335 on the PI weighbridge as well so I have some work to do to take some weight out of it
  2. Yep...also got some 105 fuel to try back to back with E85 to see which the engine prefers.
  3. So, for all us tight ass RB20 owners. Had a few little problems at Phillip Island on the weekend, which compounded some paranoia that perhaps the RB20 was down on power and on the way out. So this afternoon we did a compression test on the engine and a compression test on the cooling system. Cooling system held pressure no problem, and engine results were as follows: Cylinder 1 - 155psi Cylinder 2 - 155psi Cylinder 3 - 150psi Cylinder 4 - 150psi Cylinder 5 - 145psi Cylinder 6 - 150psi So pretty happy with the results considering the engine has done just under 60,000kms. Its done a few drift events, a few drag events, its done 2 Dutton Rallys, probably about 10-15 motorkhana days and its done maybe 20 track days? Hasnt run less then 18psi/235rwkws since about 2005 and often run 21psi and 260-275rwkws. The engine is for the first time starting to breathe, though not badly. The blow-by is hardly anything to panic about as it only 2/3 filled the Greddy catch can after 4 sessions at Winton and 5 sessions at Phillip Island. Many cars fill that catch can to the same extent after one session. So its still well within the limits of acceptable, its just that its blotted its clean no blow-by record. Who needs "crate" motors that cost many thousands of dollars when you can get a "container" engine for a few hundred dollars
  4. Yeh dont waste money on cams. Some people seem to get gains from them, you may get a gain, but plenty of evidence around says you may just waste your money. That all said, my 256/8.5mm Tomei cams are going in over the next fortnight... Just to see if they work any better then the Apexi cams I tried AND I owe the lil RB20 an apology. It seems the car simply has more grip then it used to and where it used to slide I can now carry more throttle then ever before. It doesnt seem to be down on power after all or any obvious issues with the engine. So the cooling pressure test came up A-OK. And the best bit was the compression test results were as follows: Cylinder 1 - 155psi Cylinder 2 - 155psi Cylinder 3 - 150psi Cylinder 4 - 150psi Cylinder 5 - 145psi Cylinder 6 - 150psi Pretty even and I didnt connect a batter pack to the car so the drop off in psi could in part be attributed to the battery draining a little after so much cranking. (its a pretty small, shitty battery that does not hold a lot of charge) So, the engine now has its own name ... "Lazarus"
  5. What tyres are you running the AU on?
  6. So now all is clear why Webz race was farked "This gave the reigning World Champ the opportunity to learn something new and to participate in his team's Sunday's evening, helping out with Mark Webber's strategy." "So of course he was disappointed, but he didn't rush to leave the circuit. He hung around to help the team and try and help his team-mate." He can mess with Webber even from pit wall
  7. I am not too sure Skyline owners are very good at math Some of the do this and do that for all less then 25k etc seems waaay optimistic. I think the GTR will win in most conditions, however I think a rwd platform that is 200kgs lighter can be as quick, if not quicker in some circumstances. There is always the issue of what you can do yourself and what you do with the car. AWD is a pretty big bandaid
  8. Can you steer me to the proof that this is the case? My experience (which is limited to only two cars) is that the L2 is no better then the normal TD06 turbine. Curious to see some cases/examples where they have spooled better
  9. Don't agree. Webber had a stop that cost him about 9 seconds, he came out about 8 seconds behind Massa and in 5-6 laps was on his and Buttons bum. In that period he was the quickest guy on the track. Webber was all over the backs of Massa and Button, just didnt have the straight line to get it done without being waaay aggressive. Last stint, yes he was on the quicker tyre, but all mid stint he was on the same tyre and was quicker...just couldnt cleanly get by Massa and Button. Even in the first stint he seemed to be quicker but had to just sit back and preserve the tyre and fuel because Button had him covered as Webebr could only do the job in the first DRS zone and the McLaren had such a straight line advantage that he could sail by in the second, shorter DRS zone
  10. Its done just under 60,000kms. Its done a few drift events, a few drag events, its done 2 Dutton Rallys, probably about 10-15 motorkhana days and its done maybe 20 track days? In for compression test and dyno run on Tuesday to see what the trend looks to be
  11. RBR making Webber look woeful. He had 3rd and a good chance at 2nd had they not stuffed his pitstop. After the delay in the stop he was quicker in the second stint. Button had a problem with KERS but Webber was quicker then everyone inc Hamo. If he didnt get dicked with track position he may have been able to use that pace, would have been a shoe in for 3rd and a possible second. Admit that he was never going to win after the first two laps though, he needs to defend more like the Webber of old, rather than the 2011 Webebr where he things he will be patient and use car speed to get them back in a later phase
  12. How did you get it down to 1263kgs? I weighed mine on the weekend and shocked that it weights 1335kgs with no fuel and no driver
  13. I will get some footage up later this week . Considering my car was pinging its head off, unusual amounts of blow by which could be related to the pinging... dropping gearbox fluid and running wrong pressures for most of the days...I am pretty happy with the 1:49.3. Mixed feelings about missing Sunday. Good because it allowed me to just relax and not worry about the cars problems but a bit disappointed as I would like to have had just two more sessions with the right tyre pressures and my usual rev limit. You know what they say about hindsight but I wish I had of just given it the beans in the last session of Saturday instead of trying to roll along and be smooth, which just isn't my style ...and cool photos MacGillaZ ...finally someone took a picture of my bus
  14. Two near identical setups on same dyno and same tuner and no difference. the L2 was a tad worse...a tad. My car was a little more responsive and made something like 1.5rwkws more...so variable is exhaust, engine health etc. Jack difference in the turbo...and both cars were recently lapping bumper to bumper at Winton so both about the same Kris is now running my old spare L2, making good numbers. But i didnt see anything in results that made me want to swap my H for the L2 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/58229-top-rb20-club-do-you-have-over-260rwkw/page__st__1780
  15. It hasnt gone bang...but perhaps the start of the end. One thing though to do a 49 with the problems i had it is still making good power. The hard thing to get used to is the grip from the tyres, the lack of wheelspin ion any gear makes me think its down on power...biut was still overtaking plenty of cars down the straight. Some test this week will tell me more
  16. Thats how much they sting your for locally. OS they are more like $1400
  17. I want to go back next weekend as there is another PI day. I have a gearbox leak that stopped me going out and giving it a good go with the right pressures. Car was also knocking its head off in 5th all the way down the straight which was a little unnerving...but kept my foot into it enough to get a laptime
  18. Great, the Sook won Fark off this track too. Pretty shit race apart from the fact that Webber went alternative strategy
  19. Shame for Dan, was well ahead of Luizzi
  20. Why the fark did they put softs on. So Webber has 19 laps to go 24seconds quicker then the others to hold position. RBR you are farked! Webber will drive up to the back of Button and what do RBR thing is going to happen...? Muppets. Mark has to do a suicide pass
  21. This is painful. Webber 2.2sec off 3rd and now his GP is going away again. RBR is so slow in a straight line nf farking One HD going to more commercials. I am about to call it and go to bed
  22. This is painful. Webber 2.2sec off 3rd and now his GP is going away again. RBR is so slow in a straight line
  23. Look at Webbers pace. He is the quickest guy on the track, quicker then Hamo and Alonso...only he is in 5th
  24. Do RBR enjoy farking Webbers races? Unbelievable. Mark's having a hard enough time of of it out there and they not only leave him out longer then Button but fark his stop to make sure he doesnt get a podium....FARK ME !!!
  25. Oh..and the lil 20 is now finally starting to get blow-by
