  1. Sounds like a good approach. I still like mine better, I have already registered for a Housing Commission flat, so in 10-12 years one will become available and its something like $65 a week. So combined with my disability pension for a bad back and the Housing Commission flat i am going to make a killing. Be great if someone has been fiscally responsible and paid your taxes so i can free load. In the meantime i love my car But seriously, if you are that concerned about getting ahead whislt you are young then there is nothing better then going OS with work. Get the right job that picks up all your expenses, work in a part of the world that is kind for taxes and live it up seeing the world...its the same as the "living with your folks" aspect except WAY more fun and lucrative. In todays society there are so many options and avenues open to people, if you want to play around with cars then it is no sin. I agree it is dead money but we all do with our money what makes us happy...we shoudl not be ear bashing a young guy for wanting a nice car. Hell didnt we all save pennies and borrow some cash when we were young so we could drive car we liked. Its no death sentence
  2. What are they worth to somebody?
  3. Bump. Car is going to panel beaters in the next week so need to get this stuff out of its boot. Anybody, need these gone.
  4. I dont know...it usually takes me a season to warm to the new guys who i havent seen or heard in an interview. I dont know whether i will be rooting for him or not
  5. Well car is going in for paint, then mechanicals/servicing. I cant see the timetable allowing me to enter?!?!? Cracked manifold is taking longer then expected to replace which is the killer. But then there is also the fact that i am messing around my next project by delaying a site visit because it is the same week as Superlap. LOL, yes, shit Snowman looks like he may win the bet ... but still some time to keep pushing dates and things around
  6. Yeh, but when i am homeless after you kick me out of your investment property for defaulting on rent i will have the coolest jacket and tales of thrashing the R32, i will be the envy of all the homeless people. But thats ok, i will have trashed your valuable investment property because after all i am a lowly douche
  7. Its going to be so gay when out for drinks one night we are wearing our jackets. Will have to tell all the girls we are mechanics for the Gulf Le Mans teams... And parting with $7,000 to make a measly $400. Fark that, work an extra few shifts and there is the $400 And hey, when you are having fun and driving a car you like an extra shift isnt the end of th world. LOL, i am the devil on your left shoulder ... "DO IT" if its what YOU WANT! And lets be real here, Dutch was a real man if there ever was. What do you think he would tell you? I know he would say "DO it!" I know he is my role model and when faced with a tough decision i ask what would Arnie's best ever character do in this position?
  8. Yeh, lol thats the problem. I am good at buyign shit and talking shit. But none of it ever makes its way onto my car or makes the car quicker That said, SO pumped, hoping to be able to post up the old girl with her new paint, kit, turbo setup, exhaust and intercooler, brake setup, suspension, wheels, interior etc. Have had to park it since October 2007 to afford all this crap but pretty excited. I am betting the car will be slower then before... LOL usually the case when i fark with something that was not broken I need to come up with a cool sticker for the bootlid that says GTSt Evo II as just about every performance part i have put on the car during the first 7 years of ownership has been replaced the past 12 months so constitutes the second evolution for the car
  9. You had to have had some to lose
  10. LOL, and i will qualify myself as a person to offer advice by saying i am a 32yr old who owns an R32 GTSt that owes me probably well over 50k from 9 years of ownership that is really only worth about 12k. But i own a real cool Steve McQueen jacket and am paying off someone elses mortgage in a pretty cool apartment...cash flow is King in this life and i need it to waste on cars, booz and self growth/therapy. You cant take it with you
  11. LOL i still say do it IF its what you want to do. All those people say save and buy a house? Sheesh, talk about dead money. $2000/month repayment of which about 1200 is interest per month for the first few years of the loan. LOL tell me any house you buy where you have borrowed around 80% covers the $1200 a month interest you are buring on a property. Sounds like a real smart investment to me, borrow $400,000 and repay $1.1 million etc. I dont follow the logic borrowing a small amount for a car is bad because of interest, but borrowing more for property and burning over $1000 a month hoping that the market will go boom? I say being a busted ass poor uni student who is living on the poverty line is character building. Some of the best days of my life
  12. In recent history i am thinking Damon Hill and possibly JV who if the car wasnt perfect struggled
  13. Fark me...good advice for sure. BUT, as a person who has cheated death or at least serious handicap twice before 25 then fark it. Sure buying anything at any time in your life will make you poorer then a guy that banks his money. Its no sin or crime to borrow some money that is well within your means if it means enjoying a few things now. You never knwo whats around the corner. If yo uneed to hear that its ok then I will say it is ok. Sure he will end up paying more for a depriciating asset, but so what. I eat nice food which is a waste of money relative to the fact that i could largely eat toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches for 15% of the cost. You work to live and provided you are not leaching off friends and parents to do something you cant afford...then go for it
  14. Hey Zertek, fyi i have a Selbys/Whiteline front 27mm swaybar (Adjustable) for an R32 GTSt that will work well in conjuntion with your 24mm rear. So if a buyer is worried about having too big a rear swaybar i have the front bar to balance it all back out
  15. Mick, that is awesome. So pumped to see somebody put the effort into such a tidy track GTSt. Then you have Bens cool Targa GTSt... i have to lift my game to make sure my little slug keeps pace with the other GTSts in the build
  16. That is a tough one. I think Heikki was the luckiest guy in F1 to get a seat after being punted from Renault where he never really did much. Then again neither did Fisi so that is an observation more then a compliment or insult. Heikki may be pacey, we will see. But mentally a guy like Webber would run circles around Heikki which means i think it will make him the more consistant driver, and a bigger asset to a team as there is no way you can question Webbers ability. He qualifies well, he leaps up the front of the grid when its wet and the few times he has had a good car under him he has strangled out a result from the car. So even IF Heikki is a bit pacier, it would have to be by a pretty small margin. In a full year driving one of the best 4 cars on the grid, often the fastest car by a long way on weekends he stumbled into a single win and came a weak as piss 7th in the Championship behind a Renault, both BMWs and both Ferraris. Even if the team was helping Lewis more then Heikki, 7th without even being close to 5th or 6th is a pretty massive fail Hell Webber had his first test yesterday. Pumped out something like 85 laps and was only half a second off the McLaren and quicker then the Williams and Renaults. He jumped from the car and said something along the lines of well that went well. LOL tough as nuts our Boy Mark. The guy is mentally tough, disciplined, very focussed on his team and his racing and may not be the greatest talen on the grid...is far more talented then most and more talented then some who have WDCs to their name but happened to luck into better cars. Looking forward to his year battling it out with Vettel. Incidentally he was quicker then Vettel who was driving the car before him, though its hard to know the spec of car and conditions. AND, awesome to see STR giving Bourdais another go. The guy has huge amounts of talen, but struggled mid season and had some bad luck. Teh fact that he opnely admitted he was struggling and workign with the team to bridge the gap to Vettel with regards to setup tells me the guy has the talent and the attitude needed to improve. Come on the quiet French guy who does his talkign when he is wheel to wheel in the braking area
  17. If the numbers add up then no biggie grabbing a loan for a car. Hell as a Jr Engineer i was earning about $300 a week when i bought my old SR20 Pulsar. Loans are not all that evl provided you are sensible about what you borrow. Hell it teaches you some self control and responsibililty behind the steering wheel when you see $100/wk of your hard earned draining yoru account for the pleasure of driving the car. Buy sensibly, treat it will and if yo uget in a bind you can always flog it off.
  18. The car lost about 30-35mm in ride height after about 3 years or funning them. The replacement springs i scored were wrong as my car was fitted with with R33 shocks by Whiteline but when they sent me replacement springs they were R32 springs so was no go. Ended up quicker to go Kings as replacement and Centreline in Vic said that Kings are on the money and good quality so... thats what i ran
  19. S14 steel 4 pot caliper for 280mm rotors R32 GTR and R33 GTST are alloy 4 calipers for 296mm rotors. All calipers have the same piston diameter
  20. To be clear i have lots of time, respect and owe thanks to SK. My frustration with Whiteline has nothing to do with SK. Its sad to see that Whiteline for whatever reason has slacked off on the quality front and there well deserved good reputation is these days beign tarnished by some issues with late model import components.
  21. King springs leave Whitline springs for dead. My Whitline springs failed, and i have heard of others too I replaced mine with Kings 3rd time round and now refuse to use any Whitline catalogue item in my car...i hate that a workshop fitted another one to my car without asking , but i got out foxed on that one as i wasnt in the coutnry when they were working on the car. I will remove the new one as well when i get back
  22. If you are chasing more power then great. But if the RB20 is stilol running then dont think its on its last legs because it has a 190,000kms on it. My original engine had 150,000okms on it with 70,000kms of that being me of which about 3,500kms of strictly track work. LOL yes lots of days at Wakefield and EC. A wayward spanner then cost me that motor, not the engines fault though when pulling it down the bottom end looked fine. The motor i replaced it with was a wrecker motor so who knows how many kms were on it. I have now put 45,000kms on this engine, with power being never under 215rwkws, mostly between 235-260rwkws with plenty of track work again....engine is still healthy. So if you were thinking a bit of preventative maintenance on the RB20 because you thought it has high kms then i suspect you have nothing to worry about. If it is still healthy then stick with it and do a few basic mods. If you have big plans for more power or need a real grunty car for the street then it is best to shop for more displacement
  23. That is my concern, i have not tracked my car since October 2007 and using my last international flight to come back to Aus just to blow up a car because i have not had a chance to put some kms on it and check everything....yeh its a concern. But if s little something comes off i will be there with bells and whistles
  24. LOL, it wont stop me from running, is just a nice to have I am askign around as i need to find somebody who can get some gear to Sydney for me from Melbourne
