  1. But hats off to Nathan and Ian. Was talkign to people last night about it and it was a great event. For the first time in a while i am real dirty that i missed an event. If they keep the momentum going it will on to bigger and better, no doubt
  2. No way this was the best race of the year. It was a frustrating race as many of the drivers were tip toeing around on the wrong tyres, the only highlights were RB and Nick carving through the field. Full wet races are so much better then changeable races. But hats off to the podium guys. They all deserved to be there. But isnt it interesting. If it continued to dry then RBR/Webber, Ferrari/Kimi/Massa, Renault/Alonso woudl have looked good carving through the grid on worn down intermediates. But as all race calls go, hero to zero stuff. The conservative bet was new tyres and was the right call for only RBR who were back a few places and rolled the dice. Dont think Ferrari needed any sort of strategic advantage to take it to McLaren yesterday. But, makes for an interesting race home. Personally i think Ferrari still look the goods, simply because lap dog Heiki cant sem to take any points off the Ferraris regularly enough
  3. I dont swallow the Monaco showed his avility statement, today did show his class. He got up front, got a gap, got in the clean space with good visinility and drove well. At the end i was cringing at the fact he was still driving so damn quick in traffic. Good to watch...but sheesh. But, he proved he can take command of a race, but that not the same as being a racer. Looking at Nick today, he proved he is about the best racer on the grid and has been showing it all year with his class in traffic and when recovering from poor qualifying
  4. Heidfeld said it. I heard it, and i have read similar things in about every race coverage in F1 Magazine etc after a wet race
  5. I would love to Andrew, but you need to get the moderators to allow me to become a moderator as you may have noticed that the original poster can no longer modify old posts...so i cant change the times. Up to Uncle Snowy
  6. Not always, often the driver just reports to the team what the grip level is like and the team interpret that info with what they know of the big picture info such as the amount of rain, wind, what other cars are doing. No way it is purely the drivers decision, most state an opinion then the team make the decision.
  7. I am sure if they approached some car clubs then they would nothave had any problems with officials and flaggies. What was the ruling at the end of the day with the Lotus guys getting excluded after beign allowed to run again? Poor officials can never get it right for everyone and some people are always going to be short changed, i understand the win was given to the Bel Garage boys because the Lotus gained an advantage for having warm tyres??? Does that sound right? Seems the official didnt have the numbers to be able to run the even as they would have probably desired If they come to Vic next year then i am sure SAU/WRX clubs woudl be happy to provide officials.
  8. Hmm, cracked it at Webber. Poor start, spin...good drive then hurt by not changing tyres. The poor guy must be disappointed. Great drive by Nick and Lewis. I wonder what the hell was wrong with the Ferraris as they look to have poor ecu mapping in the wet that makes them hard to drive! Also, did anyone notice the looks Nick was giving Lewis during the conference? LOL i dont think Nick cares too mcuh for what Lewis had to say But, a good result when the others have had poor results have opened it up the championship. More then any other driver, Heikki was made to look very ordinary today
  9. Yeh, i have lots of feelings on that aspect of the event. Overall its important to stay positive as overall it was a success from my point of view as a spectator. But, this sort of stuff is only going to get worse as more ppl are attracted to the sport and dont pay attention in driver briefings who have never competed in these sorts of events. People sitting on pit wall, back to track, smoking talking etc etc. We all do it and need to be reminded that we have to be looking at the track. Its a dangerous place to be standing. Then, even the experienced guys go and do craxy things like punting other cars up the ass under brakes That side of things really needs to grow with the event , which i am sure it will
  10. Well, as Hamilton is a few back from Heikki, it will be interesting to see if Heikki can race from the lead and brign it home. Or somehow LH jumps him during one of the two pit stops of the day? Personally i wont be too sad if Lewis and Kimi get a bit competitive and hamper one another allowing us to see Webber and Heikki have a straight battle at the front for the first 20 or so laps. I hope Webber gets a sniff and doesnt get swallowed on the first few corners
  11. The RX7 didnt do himself any favours driving down the pit lane the wrong way, then driving around the track in the manner he did. Surely the officials needed to be tougher on entrants doing the wrong thing? But was very well run for a first outing. No doubt the next event will be better again. Big problem cars are only going to go faster, which means some of us will get left further behind
  12. Nice, any details?
  13. Good day, i really enjoyed catching up with the Sydney crew and watching the variety of cars. Some scary fast cars...soem scary stupid drivers who should know better too
  14. Im with you. Webber commented that everyone must have been on a different strategy, suggesting that they were heavy so he was up the top. But Q3 pace shows that the RBR cant be too bad a thing., The only negative is DC is nowhere again, so Webbers pace could be a little inflated with fuel, but i doubt it. Webber is a pretty conservative guy and doesnt have a history of light fuel loads, if anything he normally goes a tad heavier and lets his abikity to put a lap together look after him in quali. His biggest advantage is Lewis and Kimi are behind him so will be more occupied with one another then Webber up front. So Webber v Heikki, personally i would back Webber in a wheel to wheel stoush, but the Mclaren will walk away from him I am so pumped about tonight! Have the video player all set
  15. Yeh Webber recently came out with a statement about Bernie getting too greedy and that F1 needs its history and traditonal circuits, An d i know what is going through Hamiltons head, all the different positions he can bang that Pussycat Girls bird. Its quite the conundrum!
  16. I mean i love working with you all, but Victorian workplaces do hell of a number on the nerves! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dbhNzOIfqU
  17. Sorry Adam, i just cant let go. Maybe you need to get on your bat phone and tell the hand feeder to let it go...but http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news...704094758.shtml DOG!!!!!!!!!!!! Webber for a 1yr deal? Interesting. A friend was saying that he was in talks with Alonso / Renault, hint was if Webber was going to Renauolt it was because Alonso was with Renault 2009 . So i dont know how much faith i put in my birdie, but if Webber is RBR, then Alonso is leaving Renault
  18. Again...my opinion. I am not making a statement of fact....so how can i be wrong. I am expressing a view which i am quite entitled to do. Just like you express yours. Disagree? I don’t really care. It’s interesting to read others views, including yours. Keep to himself, yes its easy. Many drivers do it, many champions have done it. And I don’t strictly mean not speaking to the media. If interviewed and asked about another driver, he doesn’t even need to be goaded to be condescending. He should have simply said “yes, it was a great effort” and moved onto questions about this race, his home GP. And your reference to his two GP wins this year. Yes, one was a good victory, one he could, should have resulted in a DNF, not a win. But credit to the guy that he recovered, kept his head and came home in first. But the rest of the year has been bordering horrible. Aus – Great. Malaysia – solid. Bahrain – Hopeless. Spain – Solid. the sphincter of the universe – Solid. Monaco – lucky, but brought it home. Canada – Hopelss. France – Hopeless So by my score, he is one great weekend. Three solid, good weekends. Three hopeless weekends and one hopeless weekend which he turned into a win. So I measure his season by where he should be. You seem to measure it by where he is, fair enough. We just view the racing differently. He threw away a solid result in France, and a solid result in Bahrain, and what could have been a very good weekend in Canada. So should be clearly in the lead of the championship, only he has robbed himself. Not mechanical failures… And finally, my standard? Yes, I hold sporting stars to a standard. Its not a very high one as they are just mugs like the rest of us, only they have a sporting talent the rest of us don’t. You don’t have to earn my respect, everybody has it, but its easy to lose it. Basic good manners and a humility blended with humour make for the people/sportsmen I really like. Now feel free to take that as some sort of personal attack on you and use the term “hater” as though I am a bigot or the like But yes, a sad time for me. My favourite driver in F1 is retiring. LOL i understand your defence of LH, i have been a one eyed DC fan from his first race at Williams And whilst at RBR, its interesting that Webber has come out and said he is interested in a better drive if its available. I feel a better seat exists at Renault if Alonso is still there. However Alonso is still playing his card for a drive with BMW alongside Kubica. If Alonso stays Webber will be his team mate
  19. Sorry Adam, you are not my daddy and it’s a public forum. So you don’t have to agree with me, don’t have to like what i say, but you have to accept the fact that i am entitled to that opinion. Here is the thing. He is on the out at present with the press, yet lets himself be drawn into these sort of discussions, so he is either supremely arrogant or stupid. Either way his keepers need to start helping the kid out as whilst he can drive he is presenting himself with the situation that will only detract from his ability to concentrate on the race weekend itself. The more he gets media and people off side the more of the distraction and the resulting increase in frustration You put the spin on it, he is joking. ...but read his words. There is no satire or humour to what he says. His response to hearing Button came 117 out of 1700 entrants was "That's pretty good," Then went further with "I think I'm fitter than Jenson - but I've got to prove it," Has to prove it? Has to what? Why? So he clearly has taken a simple question about how people like Webber, Button etc like competing in endurance events outside F1 as an opportunity to blow his own trumpet. So then goes on with "So if someone wants to get us going up against each other I'd look forward to it," That is a clear and defined statement, i cannot detect any sarcasm in those words. “I look forward to it” sounds like a purposeful statement! Not “if he beats me on the bike leg then I can always go and get the McLaren and line that up against the Honda” or some light hearted statement to that end. HE IS BEING AN ARROGANT ASS. Hell, if he was carrying on like this last year then hats off to the kid, he was leading the championship in his first year and mega consistent. Was kind of hard to question anything he could have said about his ability, he was winning! Then since late last year he has mixed ordinary with exceptional and at present is getting beaten by a BMW and two Ferraris. Its heads down, bumbs up time.....not talking about how he is all all encompassing centre of the universe. ….and seriously. Not agreeing with you does not make me immature. So I resent being told to grow up. Pretend all you like that your opinion is somehow divine and the rest of us cannot comment on this guys press statements. If he kept to himself like Massa, Kimi, Heikki then I would agree that kicking him his unfair. But this bloke is putting himself in the fray so we are perfectly within out rights to comment on his media releases.
  20. This is why Lewis is a bloody wanker and Kimi is funny! http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news...703105606.shtml I cant believe Hamilton has to open his stupid mouth at every opportunity? JB did an outstanding job yet Lewis has to take the opportunity to say "yeh but i am better" ... whilst Kimi just as always understates what he achieves! Lewis...old son i am trying to like you but you keep farking it up for me
  21. As others have said...fark/n bad idea and is not good for the sport!
  22. Congrats Mum and Dad, little The land of goat sphincter rings K Thomson was born a few hours before my nephew, on my father's birthday. 2nd July is truly the best day to be born. That is 4 birthdays for the 2nd July now.
  23. That is a good gain, that equates to about a 4km/h improvement in average speed!
  24. You blokes are robbing Aussies of jobs, i hope you know this
  25. Personally the only reason i would let someone drive me car in place of me is if they were paying for the whole show and that way i could sit back and see how the car goes without having to pony up with the pennies. If i was payign entry, tyres, fuel etc there is no way you could get the keys out of my greedy little hands So hats off to anyone who is letting other ppl pilot their cars...
