  1. Dont S2 R33s have that tacky clith interior? They do look nicer then the S1 though. And the interior, just like the exterior is very much a matter of taste as the R33 is too Camry for me. Then again teh R32 is very VN Commodore The big thing with R33s is if you look at 10, 8 will be in good condition. With R32s the number will be more like 3 out of 10
  2. Any excuse to get sponge baths from nurses for a few weeks 13hrs on the op table, a few fused vertebrae, some bone grafts and titanium and sent back out to reak havoc Rd 2
  3. Its got Tein RA coil overs, Sydneykid swaybars, a full TD06 setup with PFc and GTR injectors. Bracket so that i can run 324mm brakes with the std caliper, and HKS intercooler and exhaust. Thats about it, all from an internally std RB20 that at 16psi makes 234rwkws and at 19psi makes 260rwkws. In regards i think it is better. They are cheap to replace. They are possibly the strongest of any factory RB, and they are not a headache with rego unlike if i had done an engine transplant. The trade off is they need more boost and revs to make the same power as the bigger RBs, but from a certain point they will never make the same power They are heavier and the pistons in the Rb25 dont take the boost and detonation that the std RB20 does, and the RB25 has weaker rods. R34s are about the same weight as R32GTRs So i doubt the same mods as i have done would make the bigger cars quicker. As they would require more power, which means more cooling, more suspension mods and more brake mods. So not really, but if done smartly the cars shoudl be quicker all things beign equal. Though they never are My point all along is not that they are better, but they can give great results so should not be the reason to steer clear of a particular car. They have their merits and of course shortcomings. I have said it before., people that put RB25s in their R32s are the same people that would sleep with their wife's friends. At least with an Rb26 you can use the excuse that she was hot! So no, never considered putting a std RB25 in my car, RB26 or hybrid engines yes. And i am not the only guy getting good results out of a std RB20. There is a guy in Perth running 12.00 flat and 290rwkws with a std RB20. one in Sydbey making 280rwkws before the car was pranged. Just because us R32 owners are cheap bastards and rarely put a turbo, good ecu and injectors on a car....doesnt mean the car doesnt respond to mods when the few that bother actually do
  4. Meh, EVO drivers They are worse then GTRs I am going to borrow the bosses Cortina rally car and before the event let go an EMP. Then see how fast these cars with electric ass tickling dildos and tooth brushes are
  5. You dont have a clue. Next time you are at RE Customs have a close look at Matts R34 and the amoutn of mods it has and explain to me then why my internally std RB20 R32 is quicker around every track in Victoria! Goes for Rays S15 as well, my seemingly no good POS RB20 powered Skyline that is full weight, daily driver is quicker. So explain to me how an R32 with an RB20 is so bad. If it was such a performance handicap i would not be able to get near their times, right? So how is it i am several seconds quicker? LOL, if you ever get your R34 out on the track keep an eye in your mirrors as i will be out to t-bone you. Proving that A) i was quick enough to catch you and B) that as a daily driver and fun car you dont have to worry about damaging an R32 as the cars and parts are relatively cheap.
  6. Then there is always the littering of the track with parts as they fall off the car. Things lide side skirts and front bars etc. So that the quick cars end up doing a slalom run down the straight knocking a fair whack of km/h off their top end Not to mention all the McDonals and Hungry Jacks packaging that resides inside my car. That come come out a window at any time
  7. You can get up to 12 cars on a grid for a Supersprint. The changed the rules last year so that you can run up to i think 16 cars. Its kind of crazy that they changed it to so many cars Its really rather easy. Line up at the front of the pits, Be the first out there then block like buggery by balking quicker cars mid corner. Throwing on indicators half way down the straight to keep them guessing. Point your windscreen washer squirters straight up in the air and give them a blast so cars behind see spray coming from the car. Half way down the straight throw your arm out the window like you have a mechanical problem but keep your foot into it. You guys call yourselves experiences racers yet you are worried about traffic. Never raced a day in my life and i have it all sorted
  8. R33 brakes will not actually fit your R34 GTT. R34 GTT have great brakes, though the R34 is also the heavier of all rwd Skylines....so i would still tend to try and get more out of your current brakes. Very similar caliper and you have a 310mm rotor vs the GTRs 324mm...
  9. HAve a hunt around for an SR2o with a TD06-20G with 8cm housing. An RB20 with the same turbo is as responsive and makes more power. Thats without the Step 1 cams that SR20s need. Im not convinced you are right
  10. I love this video. Engine wise its a very std R32 GTSt at the track, turbo ECU all std
  11. Still kicking and going well. I have been driving it a lot lately now i have road rubber for it. Have not tracked it since late October last year though.
  12. LOL...yes its a GTR bonnet on my car. Never give any GTRs credit. You will not meet a more one eyed GTSt guy. GTSt for life!
  13. From Nissan Silvia Hey all Micheal and the boys at Turbotune here in Adelaide have recently finished playing with an RB20.... this is how it turned out!!!! SPECS: Std capacity R32 RB20det Std original pistons Std rods and crankshaft New rings and bearings Metal Head gasket Std RB20det camshafts Ebay adjustable cam pulleys Std head Shimmed Std Valve Springs for extra seat pressure GTR inlet plenum dodgily welded onto rb20det inlet runners (none of the runners line up, it's awesome) 850cc injectors Fuel pressure regulator Ebay 100mm throttle body Splitfire coilpacks Ebay Stainless highmount manifold Ebay External wastegate Monza 600x300x76 fmic T04Z turbo Remapped Std ECU 370rwkw Limited by cams, traction and stupid tall diff ratio. Hits dyno maxspeed, power still climbing crazy stuff... the dyno only has a 2 bar map sensor so they think the boost was going up to around 35psi!! EDIT: Tuned by the one and only Jeff from The Speed Lab!!!! EDIT::: as people dont understand!!! I think you guys have taking this the wrong way lol this car is not a customers car its not a car they drive on the road/track or anything it was made just for and only for the dyno!!!! The motor was built after hours for a laugh just to see what they could make out of a standard RB20.. It didnt matter if it was laggy or cheap or if it blew up.... they didnt care... It was made out of spare parts lol Cheap and easy.... just to see what they could do with a standard motor and a remapped ECU!!! It is turbotunes car that they made for the hell of it!!! And no... it wont last long..... its running 35psi lol.... I thought it was a bloody good job lol.... Its handled around 40 to 50 dyno runs over 320rwkw’s so far!!! Dont mess with the strength of an RB20
  14. LOL, come on br3ndan...the middle of the road is the most dangerous place
  15. Hey, they are weaker then other boxes. But they are by no means weak as in they break when you start the car. They are reasonably durable provided yo udrive with some care. Mine has +190,000kms on it, its on its 3rd clutch...god knows how many track days i have done in this car (possibly +75 in total, 8 years of track work, 3 years of motorkhanas, a few hill climbs, some runs at the drags where it has done a 12.9 @114mph, two Dutton Rallys) You just need to respect the fact that they will break if abused....secret to getting a long life out of the box is good Castrol Syntrax 75W/90 . Cant beat it. But yes, unlike most other Skylines which are all but bullet proof in teh drivetrain, the RB20 box is the weakest of the breed. Re oil starvation, i just give it an extra 500ml of oil so that when you are up it and some oil gets caught in the head, you still have plenty of oil in the sump. I have run an internally std engine since buying the car. I did spin a bottom end bearign on an engine, but that was only because whilst the car was at the mechanics the car was jacked from the sump and there was a massive dent put in the sump right where the pick up was...that and when they tuned it they didnt put Castrol Edge 10W60 but some Penszoil shit...so the recipe was there for trouble, cheap oil and damage to the sump. Was not happy with the service i got at that mechanics As for daily driver going to the track, Car 36 -18th And that was with me udner the weather lapping 2 seconds of what i can comfortably do. Car 36-15th Thats in a GTSt with a turbo upgrade and basic suspension mods. LOL, not saying RB20s are the best, they are actually the worst of the twin cams RBs for making power. But they can still get great, reliable results to the point that their use need not be a handicap. But a benefit in that you get to spend the money in areas that actually make the car far quicker.
  16. Ok then, if Aurace is in Vic, you are welcome to a drive of my car to help you form your own opinion. Best get some personal experience...its your dime, go with what you find to be right. If you find the right R32 GTSt you shoudl not dismiss it because it has an RB20. That said, find a nice R33 then you should grab it provided the premium $$$ over the R32 can justify it. Bumblebee...care to come to Phillip Island on Anzac weekend and see if i can change your mind about RB20s If i spank your GTR then you have to wash my car in a bikini at the next club meeting....and vice versa :)t
  17. I had those Lenso rims for a whole. They look great on the R32
  18. If Rb20 are so bad why is all the R33 and R34 rwd track cars are slower then my GTSt with a turbo upograde on an internally std engine. Is the RB25 a better motor? Hell yes. By the margin ppl make out? NO WAY. You have to look at the whole picture to understand why an RB20 powered R32 can easily punch with an R33 RB25. First you have the weight, only small advantage, but its basically an extra passenger so is measurable. But the main reason is the old two stroke style gearing. When R33 owners are grabbing 4th gear at abour 170km.h the R32 driver is grabbing 5th gear. The R32 has much shorter gearing, so everyone that is obsessed about response...well who cares, for a given road speed you have more revs on board so you are making boost and power. So dont get obsessed with rpm where it makes boost, thats why we have manual gearboxes and diff ratios, worry abou tthe road speed where it makes boost. And on that front....have a look at the comparison of - My internally std RB20 running PFc and TD06-20G - An R34 GTT with Poncams and GCG Hi FLow and PFc (same tuner and dyno as me) - Another R34 GTT with Hi-Flow and i think this dyno sheet is on a fully built motor with cams. But lets just say its an internally std Neo sa the sheet could be an old one for the car. Either way, once you stop worrying about revs where you make power and consider road speed. Then the R32s slightly less weight and shorter gearing ensures you can still do the job.
  19. Accomodation is the killer. If i go i will stay with friends in Bugus, which is right near the track. Tiger Airlines also have dirt cheap flights from Melb
  20. LOL, i was winding up a particular Vic GTR driver tonight, telling him all about fictional pace my car has and how is must be so much quicker
  21. I HATE YOU ALL. GET THE FAAAAAARK OFF MY ROAD!!!!! :
  22. And people go up in arms about in the Grp A days when the GTRs were homolgated to run higher weight year after year. Japan is no different yet Aus motorsport is vilified for it
  23. Its a pretty simple cage but thats what i needed. Brown Davis in Bayswater looked after it for me. There are plenty of places around that can do cages, i ended up going with Brown Davis as i felt most comfortable using them. Glad i did, for a change getting a pretty major mod doen was a piece of cake and done professionally LOL, nope. It is a GTSt bonnet cut down to help air flow through to the radiator. Wouldnt shame my car by putting GTR parts on it. That would be like putting Lada parts on an Aston Martin Yeh, i have a soft soft for silver R32s, though the pics of your car make me envious. 9 years of ownership and 8 years of track work are taking their toll on my car
