Not too sure if this theory is still used but, I remember reading an article on intercoolers and they explained there is 2 types.
One is "Bar and Plate" and the other is "Tube and Fin"
From memory, Tube and Fin gives better cooling and Bar and Plate gives better air flow. (I think that's how it goes?)
Having said that, since you want to track / circuit your car, you would probably go Tube and Fin as it give better cooling because you will need it as you spend more time on the track, car will be exposed to a lot more heat so you would need good "Cooling"...
If your GTR was designed for Drag Racing, you would go Bar and Plate as you won't spend too much time on the track... Depending on the car, you'd be on the track for no more than 15 secs.
You want the air flow straight away.
This my not be the case these days as I was talking about this to a friend a good few years ago...
