Test'n'tune Sunday 9th At Wsid
DoughBoy replied to BezerkR32's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Those imported chassis cars are awesome, the finish on them is nothing like you get in Aus. -
RB26 heads flow more std and have higher potential than 2JZ heads. I know it's a pretty bold statement, and the difference isn't that great (~10cfm) and I'm not going to post scans of flow sheets... you'll just have to trust me on this Oddly enough WRX heads flow better than either. I think the stronger bottom end of the 2JZ far outweighs the slight flow advantage the RB26 head has, unless you "invest" alot of moolah into it... which is probably insignificant if you are extracting over 300cfm from the heads.

Uh hang on, why did you post a question if you already know all the answers? That '25 is still going, there's a big thread about it somewhere on SAU.
-
... and there's a completely stock internal RB25 that did 10's in an R33 Skyline with a manual. All 4 of the engines are pretty damn good from the factory, especially given how cheap you can get the younger siblings (1JZ, RB25) for.

Dude if that's heavy, what do you call the mighty GTR? Aren't a few quick ones above 3500lbs?
-
A local shop refused to sell the Nankang front runners due to the ~100km/h (?) speed rating on them, alot of those antique car tyres aren't rated to much - hence my questions.
-
Speed and load rating?

Tuned Length Exhaust Manifolds (ebay)
DoughBoy replied to r33freely's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Haha look at those links and tell me that it's not the same item as Bezerkly posted? A while ago I got a manifold direct from China, and funny enough it's identical to the ones GCG have in their display cabinets. As someone posted there have been a couple of revisions of the manifolds, and prob several different factories in China making them... but even the units that Simon or Sean in WA are running with their combinations are the same as the GCG ones, at less than 1/2 the price. Not saying they are the duck's nuts, I'm sure they have some unique features bundled in with them (uncontrollable boost, turbo positioning hitting cam covers or p/s gear) but you get what you pay for.. and some people have gotten decent results with the new gear. -

Ooh the cheapest "locally" was $229: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SKYLINE-R32-R33-R34...1QQcmdZViewItem -

Here's one the same as the "GCG" manifold http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...Y_BIN_Stores_IT -

XTR manifolds are the same china ones that you can buy off eBay, but less than half the cost. IIRC buying direct from the manufacturer in China the manifolds are ~$US50 each. -
Replaceing Cermic Wheel With Steel.. Flow 600 Hp...?
DoughBoy replied to SS#eater's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Joel, do you know what size turbine housing? I think with all the modified turbos the restriction is the "stock" turbine housing. -
Rb26 Turbo Comparision Graph (from Latest Hpi Mag)
DoughBoy replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What engine is that, I've seen you mention it a few times now. The amount of RB's making over 1K hp in Aus can be counted on one tasmanian hand, yet this combination hasn't been mentioned? Esp since it's a "drag motor", the amount of high powered RB's racing are pretty well known. -
Have got 2 R33 ones here, $1,000 each.

DoughBoy replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
At a guess he wants pics of the HKS patented exh and comp covers, which Brett at GCG told him after being informed by Mark @ Hypertune. It's nothing really, just shows the diffuser section being carried over to the scroll on the comp cover to improve high boost efficiency. The turbo cross section is similar to the TR race series of Garretts, again slightly more efficient. As to the HKS stuff being worth double the price of Garrett shelf stock... maybe if you're racing for sheep stations but not many people are pusing the envelope with high boost to warrant the added expense. -
Rb26 Turbo Comparision Graph (from Latest Hpi Mag)
DoughBoy replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ahh you don't get it. This thread was about a turbo comparison using the same dyno/spec motor/fuel to illustrate the differences in the setups. Sure there might be a few issues as to the validity of the results but at the end of the day it was as close to direct comparisons as they could get. Throwing in your 2530 dyno graph using different fuel at a boost level you just claimed you never drive the car at is pointless. Where is the relevance to the Wilall tests? Of course it's going to smash it, hell even at 18psi it would have more area under the curve due to the ridiculous amounts of timing thrown into it. The turbos would come on a hell of a lot earlier and have a massive advantage. Regarding your old setup, I even said it to you on the phone a few days ago that it was pretty damn good. "Normal" people would just upsize the turbo than keep going back with tuning and different fuels, but you ended up getting good results from bolt on replacements. I could go on about it but that's not the purpose of this thread. -

DoughBoy replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah goose, I merely showed an example of a single turbo RB running on pump that has done a 10 second pass. Maybe it would have been better to mention UREADY-R32 GTR who did a 10.8 with a plain bearing T04R, stock gearbox and a similar built engine to toogle - forged pistons and 264 cams. I deliberately didn't want to post more since this is a thread about a magazine article showing turbos on a stock motor running low boost on pump fuel, not about stripped out race cars running huge boost on race fuel that generated obscene power levels out of small oversped turbos that disintegrated after less than 5,000k's. Another good example of "stock" motors putting out power is that one in the states in a full chassis car, completely internally stock motor with every bolt on under the sun that did ~900rwhp. Apples for donuts that case may be, but it's already in the thread. -

R34 Gtt Box And Diff .
DoughBoy replied to discopotato03's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
No, R34 GTR is a 6 speed Getrag, the GTT is the same as ECR33. R34 Getrag parts don't interchange with any other nissan box.
