1. Bloody huge Cicada was in the parking lot at SuperAutobacs 171 in Ikeda (north Osaka)... I *think* it was alive when I took the pic but I could be wrong. Had to lay the mobile next to it to give a reference of size:
2. You have to own a personal import for at least 12 months... I've only owned that Silvia for lees than 2 weeks. Besides, the paperwork for bringing a personal import in is twice as much, and evrything has to be translated into English... 15 year rule was much easier.
3. What about the VG30ET?
4. Shodo: Yeah, I was thinking RB20 for a while, but unbalancing the car like that with a cast iron block doesn't sound right. If I have the cash, SR. If not... a CA18DET would be such an easy swap I could do it myself. I know what most people think of CA's, but I've always liked them so meh. Mark: The R32 was sold to my younger brother. He wanted a new demo car for his shop as the old Mitsubishi Lancer wagon (Libero GT style) wasn't what he really wanted. I love that R32 but the situation was such that I couln't hang on to it any longer. Totoro: "If the price is right"? We'll cross that bridge when we come to it But in the meantime, I was originally going to deal in brand new gear only... the used parts business is barely worth doing these days... but I do have very good contacts for both new and used parts so I'm sure I can source anything at all. Just the larger stuff like body kits and exhausts etc will take alot longer and have a scary freight charge. If all goes well I'll be open for business out of my brothers shop TKO Tinting in Bentley (fingers crossed) as of the end of October. Edit: Totoro PM me and we'll talk some more about the wheels/tyres
5. Gee, the replies so far have been a good help haven't they? I wouldn't say the car has alot of 'goodies' on it. Theres and engine 'sub-computer' I don't the brand, maybe like an e-manage or something, so it's tuned a bit, maybe making a little more power over stock. There's also 'low-down' suspension... again could be only lowered springs. Aftermarket alloys and muffler, rear spolier... hmmm, nothing special IMO. If you were thinking of getting a crashed car for the parts, well this isn't the one to get. In fact my $700 piggy Silvia has got more stuff on it
6. I've got something lined up in the very near future regarding that^^^... I hope I can really help out the Japanese import guys in Perth
7. About $3,500 B)
8. We're talking 135hp (100kw) at the engine!!! For a 2-door FR coupe, thats just not cricket.

Ecu

Yep, Nerve ECU's are from www.essential.co.jp and are programable 'OEM' type ECU's... like what Mine's do. They have a 'Lite' version which is a ROM for minor mods (intercooler, bigger injectors, air cleaner, exhaust, boost up) too. They sound expensive but they are pretty reassuring about their settings. I'd say they're good stuff... up there with Mines and the miryad of other programmable ROMs.
10. ^^^Aragosta Coil over suspension
11. No I don't think so. There were some negotiations I think, but nothing even remtely solid eventuated. The logistics will never add up for something like that to ever be held in WA. Yep! Thats right The car is running very well, I just had it checked over and all fluids changed today at SuperAutobacs 171 in Ikeda. The mechanics said that even the Cusco 1-way LSD is is good condition... just awesome. I think this is truely one of those rare times when an absolute BARGAIN comes along...

You didn't bust out with the measuring tape did you?
13. Yep, I'm from Perth, and I remember seeing that company too! Now after 5 consecutive years in Japan, I KNOW I'm gonna cringe when I see all these aparently reputable companies using 'Jap' quite legitimately when I go back. Hey Msahiro, we should make a **'Japan Foundation' in Perth where we try and educate and provide info on all things Japanese... I know it's been done at a corporate level already, but to aim it specifically to the 18 to 35 year olds would be pretty cool. **Trade Mark. Don't steal my idea LOL
14. Sorry mate, I've got my hands full deregistering 2 cars as it is... not fun! But if I see something I'll let you know, but you'll need an agent here to do all the paperwork... extra $$$ I don't know yet, but whatever I get it'll be the bare minimum.
15. We must be around the same age then as I liked the 2-tone too... and the brown interior is what I would call 'different' as opposed to 'OMFG why did ya do that MANG!" Yes, rego expires in February next year... I tell you what if that car didnt have rego I wouldve wanted it for free. Paying car tax for that kind of car just goes beyond all logic, so the previous owner knew that its value is next to nothing here in Japan. Yep, its an '88. Hello 15 year rule
16. I'll probably leave at the end of September. Why can't you get rims in Perth? Or tyres???
17. No not at all, in fact this one will be on a ship to Perth in 3 weeks or so... so you'll be able to check it out yourself The only things that I've got planned are some AVS 16x8J for the front, new tires and get the diff checked out... its a bit clunky.
18. See thread title...
19. Here she is in all her bovine glory: A$700 from Yahoo Japan auctions... I guess a nice set of chromies and big lairy graphics are good for the genitally challenged, but you *know* a guy is *big* when he's got a brown interior in his car... I must be pretty well endowed! HOT DAMN IT'S A CA18DE!!! ... WORD. Rear strut brace, 10 CD stacker, hight adjustable coilovers, Cusco 1-way LSD, and Field fuel controller were nice to find on board, but the Carozzeria speakers that light up blue, blue led bizness in the parking lights/reverse lights and other little nick-nacks will more than likely get binned. **Anouncement** If you wanna know why I bought it, it's because I wanted a challenge, and to break the 'teenage hoons drive S13' stereotype

Home Stay In Jp?

I wont be here when you're here so count me out...
21. hehehe... I was just having a go at all the guys that think Japan is just full of obscure shops and it's all within 5 mins walk from the main train station. What do you mean? Are you talking about Yahoo Japan?

It seems like their website is under construction (?), so what Totoro said is pretty much it other than they're based out of Kyushu (southernmost of the 4 big islands in Japan) in the country somewhere... Charazuma? Masahiro can you confirm? Other than that theres not much else.

24. Try Sumo Guest House, very cheap and quite a new place... opened in 2003 or something. ^^^ Aaaah poop, you're coming on Tuesday? Maybe you've sorted something out already. Anyways, let me know where you are and we can hook up.
25. 1985 Toyota Corona Coupe 2000 GT-R The Corona Coupe first appeared in 1985, with a bodyshell similar to the ST160 Celica, but with a more upmarket image. Parts sharing continued across models from the already mentioned Celica and also the Carina ED, all sharing the 3S-GELU engine and all using the same platform. Basically it could be said that the Corona Coupe was a restyling execise giving consumers in the 1980's a mind-boggling array of choices... "would you like your Corona in FF or FR? Coupe or sedan? Sporty or upmarket?" Three engines were available, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0L, with the top of the line GT-R getting the 3S-GE twin cam. The 1.6L 4A-GELU, as good as it was, wasn't large enough to move the Corona Coupe at a decent pace, so the GT-R version with the 2.0L 3S-GELU was the most sought after model. The 1.8L 1S-iLU SOHC engine with 115ps (78kw) wasn't powerful or revable, but had that extra capacity that the 4A-G lacked... but the 1S-iLU was better suited to the Camry, not a sports orientated coupe. 3S-GELU - 120kw________________________________4A-GELU - 97kw... just not enough. The interior of the Corona Coupe was identical to the ST160 Celica, with a truely amazing looking digital guage cluster which must've looked incredible back in 1985... real 21st century style - in a 1980's point of view. It came as a bit of a suprise that the ST160 Corona Coupe was succeeded by the ST180 Corona Exiv which happened to be a 4-door hardtop sedan... with not a coupe model in sight. Therefore the 80's Corona Coupe stopped at the ST160, leaving the void to be filled solely by the Celica. Name: Toyota Corona Coupe 2000 GT-R Chassis: ST160 Engine: 3S-GELU Capacity: 1998cc Power: 120kw @ 6400rpm Torque: 19.0kg/m @ 4800rpm Weight: 1100kg Transmission: 5MT Drive: Front wheels Brakes: Ventilated disks Suspension: MacPherson Front struts with rear parralel link struts
