  1. WTB urgently!!! Thrust bearing carrier for my Stagea manual conversion. Thrust bearing carrier needs to fit 260 stagea box/GTR box ... but I'm sure any R33 etc carrier will fit. Ruby
  2. Welcome aboard
  3. Jess, I know just the place ... where you can stretch your legs! And its about 5 minutes from Morphett Vale.
  4. Lex, or anyone else with a manual RS4, can someone confirm this ... does the manual RS4 have the recess? It'd be interesting just to know.
  5. I've found four different sources (albeit all being different versions/instructions), and it was the last one when I found out about the "recess". Even some of the info I found suddenly was inaccessible online! So I could not refer back to it. The original source I have for Stageas specifically is now back online WTF? Anyway, I went around to Dan's to look at Nigel's old 260 and sure enough, theres a recess. Might have to go the 33 master for now, just to get the job done ... but not too sure about how it will mate up with the 260 clutch pedal box. I just want to avoid buying extra parts, when I've already got the 260 parts there.
  6. Forgot this was on. I've got a gearbox swap to attend to tho
  7. Well anyone who tells you the 260 and the RS4 are the same body, and all Autech did was stick in an RB26DETT, is lying/wrong. There are lots of differences. The 260 has a 4cm recessed section for the clutch master with booster. I'm getting the firewall recessed section and trans tunnel section for the shift hole/handbrake mount cut out of Nigel's wreck so I can suss it out. Maybe even have an engineer fabricate it in. Another option is to just go with a 33 clutch master (non-boosted), but then the clutch pedal I have prob won't work. Its the little things they don't tell you about.
  8. Now think about the cost of the damage. I like to call it 'piece of mind', not an expense best avoided. At least you had insurance of some sort. Most people skimp out altogether. I'd just sell it cheaper and try to recover the expense.
  9. I had to sell my Stagea with keyed damage down one side. Had insurance but wasn't worth the $400 excess for $600 or repairs. Just sold it for less ... wrote it off ... moved on.
  10. Bloody excellent idea Steve!
  11. Well, I've now since discovered that the clutch master cylinder cannot be installed without removing the engine, due to the plenum being in the way ... so looks like I might have some change of plans and be pulling the motor out complete with box. So ... guess I'll be needing that engine hoist.
  12. Can anyone open this link? http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/ar...hp/t-51894.html Its the details for a manual conversion. I could open it Friday, but now I want to print it, it won't open anymore? If anyone can open it and save it as a PDF that'd be great.
  13. Tell me about it. The part was dumped in where the oil cap is ... and there is no way that part came from within the engine. The cap is lock-wired, as per usual scrutineering requirements, and the lock-wire had been removed. That made it all the more suss. Good thing tho the engine failed down the pit straight and not on any of the turns! f**ken dangerous prank!
  14. Wonderful! Pulled my RS250 race bike engine down and found some foreign metal in there. Appears some douche at the track didn't like a little 250 spanking him and his 1000 and put foreign bits (a piston pin not even for my RS) into my crank case when I left it unattended ... resulting in the clutch basket gear, gearbox engagement gear, and seals being wrecked. Now its rebuild time ... and I haven't started the season! Might have found a race spec motor in Singapore ... waiting for confirmation.
  15. Neither my GTR box or clutch kit came with a thrust bearing collar (or 'throw out bearing collar'). Does anyone have one lying around?
  16. Can you check for spark? Remove one of the coil packs and stick in a spark plug ... crank it over and check for spark? Or timing light if you have one.
  17. Thanks Troy Already got the complete write up and reading thru it again this weekend to cover all bases. Going out after lunch to start looking into the pedal box swap and handbrake install to get ahead on the job before next weekend. Also, anyone know of a good engineer/mechanic to face the flywheel for me? And neither my clutch kit nor the gearbox came with a thrust bearing collar (or 'throw out bearing collar') ... anyone got one lying around?
  18. Also ... Just chasing down a few small items for the gearbox swap. Would anyone happen to have bolts for the pressure plate to flywheel ... and bolts for the gearbox to engine block (I hear the autos are different)? Also, I'm assuming the tailshaft is the same length for auto and manual?
  19. Battle scars!!! And chicks dig scars
  20. Okay so far I have: Luke_ENR34 Damo_R34 Aberax (subject to getting the day off) Craig_R33 (maybe) Anyone else? I'm bringing a carton of beer, and we might throw a few snags on the bbq ... all I need is your assistance to remove a box, then lift the manual into place ... 2-3 minutes work all up for beer and snags. Come get some niggas!
  21. Some stupidly loud cars there today! Some cars had audio worth more than the car itself Was happy with the Stagea pumping 125.5db on its second and last go ... an improvement over 114db last time ... but no where near the average of 130db for the day ... one car even pumping 156db I've got an upgrade of a pair of 12" subs and amps coming soon ... after the manual swap
  22. My guesstimate is lunchtime (1pm?) Saturday. I'll be there in the morning to get the box ready for removal.
  23. Hmm, this might work for me also. I'll have my manual conversion done by then and the tuning sorted. I'll let you know also ... soon.
  24. You the man Luke! Moved the GTR box from the back of the Stagea to my garage on my own ... jesus! Not doing that again!!!
  25. Okay its all set. I've arranged to use premises for the swap kindly provided by Luke in the North Plympton area. Can I have some volunteers to help for a few hours, talk shit and drink some of my beer? I'll mostly need you to help remove the auto trans and then fit in the manual box ... prob 4 peeps all up!
