had any dvd installed? or dash come off? when i had my dvd installed they tap into your handbrake (by law) so the screen turns off when it's down.. and my handbrake light stayed on even though the handbrake was down.. either that or a wire has fault maybe? a point to check on

look at the going market price and drop money for the damage.. i'd look at the wreakers for a new facia as a potential buyer will ask for more-off the value for a new fascia you can get from a wreakers.. plus a buyer will be more interested in a car that hasnt been broken into..
