  1. sounds like r34 turbo ball bearing centre with ceramic exhaust wheel
  2. you need to get the numbers to ID it correctly
  3. the pfc and rb20/25 afms pfc$1000 or less and rb20/25 afms for $100 to $150 ea i ran as high as 530rwhp with this combo, j-detro good but more $$ and more $$ to tune but not by much.
  4. This is a list of what I want to do for stage 1: Power FC - APEXI Cam Gears - TOMEI Adjustable Timing Belt - TOMEI New std are fine (Fuel Filter) List of extras to get me to ~500hp: (Seperated into possible stages) AFM's - RB20/25afms will make 500rwhp & plug straight inor Z32 with TOMEI Z32 Adaptor (there not nismo) Injectors - SARD 700CC DONT GO ANY SMALLER Spark Plugs - NGK (Gapped to 0.8) ================ Fuel Pump - NISMO Water Pump - GTR N1 Oil Catch Can - GREDDY ================ Camshafts - TOMEI (IN260deg / EX260deg / L9.15mm) Valve Springs - TOMEI (not a must but nice to have) ================ Piston - std will make the power will not live for ever (forged a good investment) Con Rods - TOMEI Forged H-beam (not a must but nice to have can get away with arp rod bolts) Crankshaft - R33 GTR Replacement (very bottom of the list, but still thought of) ================ Turbos - Garrett Gt2560r 707160-5 or HKS 2530 Wastegate - there internally gated ================ Fuel Rail - not need and the sard will fit std rail Balancer - unless your looking pass 9000rpm not needed Oil Cooler other things induction piping custom 3"(descreen your 80mm afms) exhaust must be very free flowing ie twin 3"into 3 1/2"etc intercooler will make the power but a 100mm unit will handel it better cam cap studs can be a weak point tomei replacements are cheaper enough built a number of 500rwhp plus gtrs now and its no real rocket science you just have to put a matched package together like you said with no bottle necks. pete
  5. yeah its true ecu like motec and autronic have much more flexibly but i think one thing that is over looked in all the ecu concidered is the impacted the tuner has. Meaning it would matter what ecu you got if the tuner isnt up to the job and if you have an excellent tuner he can make almost any ecu gain great results. The greatest thing with the pfc is alot of the hard work is already done and there is a big saving in dyno time using a plug and play ($100plus and hour) doesnt take long to burn up lot of cash. I know of a tuner who want atleast a full day on the dyno get to put the ignital tune on a motel rb26/30 drag car at a $150hr that starts to add up very quickly my advice was for the guy to use a pfc pro and build the combo for there.
  6. the pfc does have correction factors for such days ie ign vs water temp and ign vs air temp which can be adjusted and will compensate for hot days pete
  7. so the JUN 8.2sec gtr700 /tomei 8.5 sec r34/ KW 8.8sec os giken GTR dont qualify as some of the best. I think your very one eyed when it comes to product brands and a little foolish righting off such successfull cars like this. And i dont think the majority are chasing drag car cam combos, as large % of us want a combo fast/ friendly and low maintains for our street runner as the higher lifter you run the more dollars it cost to install and the more maintain it will take to run it.
  8. well thats very different to the five sets i have installed and the seven set in total i have handel, to be honest i was and engine machinist for good part of my life and have worked with alot of different brands and the tomei equipment i have seen has been of the high standard. From the sounds of it, it sound more like you recieved some dodgy produces. And dont get me wrong i'm also a big fan of the hks products. But i would be carefull bagging a product like Tomei Poncams that so many people have used around Australia to such great results ie TWO-6L what made 440awkw and 10.38sec 1/4 with a set of bolt in cams. pete
  9. well then your on the right path 2.8litre with HKS GTRS twins and high lift 270deg cams will make a nasty RB26, you and Gav will have some serious fun with those combos, me i lean more toward bottom end and linear power delivery for a fast car corner to corner, but thats one of the true beautys of the GTR you can tune it just about what ever you want. pete
  10. i think 280deg would be way to much for street personally as i showed tomei dont recomend anything over 260deg for street, there are a number of cars run 270 or 270/260 combinations on street but it really comes down to personal choice and your opinion of what you would tolerate on the street. From what i have seen you seem to want a package for out right hp more so than responce etc so with that preference high lift 270 should suit you the best. pete
  11. Apexi for me D-Jetro has become popular in Wa but it still a big fan of the pfc and i wouldn't go the nismo afms because i believe there the same std size Yes?(62mm) the rb20/25 or z32 are 80mm and give much less restriction to air flow than the std size afm (and personaly i descreen mine) everyone loves putting large exhaust system on to get rid of the gas but what goes out must first get in and in only under a vacuvm(inlet of the turbo).Twin 3" dumps are common so i also run twin 3" intake piping from the 80mm afms, which lets the turbos breath easily. pete ps APEXI pfc best plug and play on the market
  12. Interesting even after you have seen a HKS cam snap in half in one of those 3 cars? I have seen cam studs broke before but the tomei's i have never heard of or seen fail. Just an observation.
  13. there the go but maybe try greenline.jp or nengun.com might save your self some money
  14. yes i dont think it worth bothering with stage 1 the stage 2 are the only ones i recomend pete ps the last 3 gtrs with these cams have averaged 500rwhp with small twin turbo combos
  15. jezzas is running tomei poncams, Yes it's a VERY nice ride with great responce and linear power delivery, which should stand him in good sted for track days etc. I have know fitted 5 sets of these Tomie Poncams all with out a problem and all with good results (ie my tip is to get adjustable cam wheels (tomei) with the cams) as tuning the cams is where you really unlock the potiental of the rb26 some more than others. peter
  16. wink i friend of mine is running a WOLF 3d in his auto as it has the out puts to run the auto (but i'm no fan of the wolf) SAFC 2 would be my suggesting, not to $$ second hand and in the right hands can be tuned pretty quickly for reasonable results. Plus with fuel prices like they are now it would most likely paid to get it done. Whats your fuel consumption like with the map running 10:1 when i would think 12.5:1 would be much closer to the mark for a light tuned rb. pete
  17. i dont have a pic but if you look at where the bucket runs under the cam you will see the there is a cut away through the bucket tunnel to clear the lumb of the cam this cat away is what has to be relieved to clear the larger lumbs. pete
  18. another thing to note is the bolt in tomei poncam has a base circle of 32mm and a lift of 9.15mm But the tomei procam has a base circle of 30mm and the 10.25mm lift cam would only have a total 0.10mm higher total lumb hieght. Meaning i believe if you were willing to reshime the head the tomei 10.25mm should go in without machining. pete
  19. they do look like an interesting bolt on don't they and to run the cams surgested would make one nasty rb26
  20. dyno is the best place as you can see the direct effect of any changes and every motor is a little different. But i have found a little advance on inlet gives better and earlier low down power and some motors responced to a little exhaust advance as well. Best to test all changes on the dyno and you need to remember to reset timing when adjusting the exhaust timing. pete
  21. both pumps will fit and no they are not N1 the only different in the N1 is a stronger relief spring to run a slightly high oil pressure.
