  1. WELL it depends on a few things the previous history of the gtr but yes i think the gtr would last a very long time in std form but i would still loss the std turbos as they are between 12 to 17 years old depend on year of manufacture. A set r34 are still ceramic but only a few years old and can be had quiet cheap (plus they are a better turbo) or the cheapest after market would be the gt2560r 707160-5 able to be bolted on to std format with out stressing the motor at low boost. The only other thing that would most likely come alone would be the clutch but that happens on any performance car.
  2. I think all the comments i read above were pretty close to the mark. Plus i would like to add the main reseasons i see most rb26 fault 1/People think they can just turn up the boost on a 15 year engine and trush the guts out of it and it shouldn't have a problem but you must remember the rb26 make power like no other motor it's size or age and it there for put under stress like no other. 2/The mods are done wrong or in the wrong order and things like std ceramic turbo wheels and oil control that are over looked that can cause engine failure. 3/I think the reseason rb20/25 dead engine story arn't told as much as its much cheaper and easier to just grab a replace second hand engine and just drop in, or they upgrade at that stage. 4/Plus alot of the guys going to really push hard on an engine will generaly start with a rb26 over a rb20/25 if money allows. personally i had a great run out of my rb26 which i lent on hard for 2 years and only had a problem when i left it in the hands of my d..khead brother. But i exspected to rebuild at some stage after run 530rwhp on std internals for 2 years. I believe the rb26 would substain 400rwhp for ever in a day if looked after well. pete
  3. R33 GTR abs cable right front this is the cable that goes from front hub up to just inside the engine bay the brace i need goes under the floor just in front of the diff, over the tailshaft pete [email protected] 0438934777
  4. paul great work get thread for information on the oil lines, best of luck with the GTRS turbo. pete
  5. WTF i have never said i was a good drag racer (it never really interested me personally) the only two meets i have run were when we had no local circuit track to run at (collie was shut) the only other threads i have done we been of the develop and the findings on my car the exact thing i thought this forum was for YES? i nearly walk away from this forum 12 months ago but Sydneykid talked me out of it, but if the trust back up facts is not well come then so be it. As for me going back to the drag i might but not only if i feel the need to not because so bozo thinks i got to prove something I dont really want to have fork out for a $6000 dollar box for a 10sec drive down a straight piece of road (as you all know its cost simon alot on boxes to achieve what he has done and my hat is off to him but it arnt my thing) and one small fact you left out was i didn't have a built motor or high lift cams and ran turbo hp rating much small then the singles you named, but comparing apples with apples isn't needed is it.
  6. cruiseliner that is not fair i only complemented paul on his success and wished him well for the future and i'm brand for leading this thread off line. What a crock of shit
  7. guys just like to point out i didn't take this topic of track and never even mention singles BUSTER you asked me a question and i answer if by using real cars to make my point and published documentation. People wonder why i hold so fast to my ideas because can so many company and people be wrong Gramham Bell refers to the very principles and develop of turbos through F1 and world rally, if you don't believe me have a read seriously. the reason the twins work better is Physics, the clearer the impulse signal the more efficient the spool on a turbo. for example why does a 2litre 4 cylinder spool a turbo better than a 2litre 6 cylinder, they flow very similar flow rates but it's the impulse signal that’s is different. you can't seriously tell me Lewah custom garret is rate at 800hp and he managed and awesome effect - 446 rwkw @ 27psi @ Racepace Motorsport DynoDynamics Dyno. - 0-400m [email protected] mph - 1.6932 60' - Heathcote Park 20 July 2003. Guys i'm not telling you what to run or buy if you like your single great but not hassle me about it i just am a fan of a car with small low mounts, afms and pfc thats has managed to blow anything like it away, and if drags were my thing i would most likely be out competing again him but my interest lays on the circuit. pete ps everyone is allowed to have there own ideas so don't hold mine again me.
  8. in a word yes look at the top run gtrs world wide last time i looked there wasn't a single in the top ten and to compare running combos in australia the twin on munro's,KW and GTR700 kill the big single if i'm not mistaken and i have not seen a 800hp single go near two6l so why would it go fast then a bigger twin combo on two6l. for best spool efficience on a turbo it is best to not exceed 4 cylinder per turbo just look at the new 1000hp biggia(have no idea on the spelling) street car and if you want Documentation try reading the book "FORCED INDUCTION" by Gramham Bell.
  9. Because he wants to go faster not slower his managed 10.3 with 640hp twin Name me a faster 800hp turbo single than 10.3 or even close to that By going to just a larger twin combo he should increase hp and terminal speed with out losing to much bottm end or mid range AND still retain the std factory look and feel to the car.Which you cant do with the single combo. But can we stay on topic Paul all this talk about block oil lines isn't making feel to good about have std oil lines on the GTR but i will say i'm very carefull with the lines and always flush/wash and blow out the line when ever the turbos are off. 9 secs low mounts with full interior thats crazy, do you know what the fastest low 1/4 time is out of interest? And if you don't mind me asking what is the ball park cost the lines upgrade on the turbos worth? pete
  10. paul can i ask would do you think was the cause of the blockage? and can i ask the type of oil you were running at the time (if you dont want to post it pm please as i'm very interested) as when i worked in Engine Reconditioning industry we sent a number of oil sample for testing and discovered that one praticular oil brand had caused numerous engine failures. I wish you the best with the GTRS turbos as you have done amazing well with the 2530's , i look forward to see the results between the two as i so nearly bought a set but was put of by the bad rep the coped at one stage and the awesome results i had gain from the garret gt2560r. pete ps 9sec low mounts (THATS THE SHIT)
  11. it would be interesting to see what a healthly set of gtr turbos go like (i guess someone would have tryied it) gtr r34 ball bearing should give a result worth the trouble.
  12. for you to be drawing some nuch current in the electrical system to drop the voltage like this you must a serious issue in the electrical system(it may not even be related directly to the ignition system but is related to rpm). It might be worth checking the supply wiring to the ignition system poor conducts can brake down under load but still supply an electrical path when not stressed, plus the voltage you reading on pfc make be quiet different to the volt the ignition system is recieving CHECK THE WIRING LOOM(as it could be a simple as bad supply wire)
  13. wrong way dude it has to rev high now to make same ground speed, ie i have geared it down.
  14. anyone one how can tune any ecu can tune a pfc with hand controller it just takes a while to enter the data. Plus isnt NZ where the datalogger unit came from i believe they know more about pfc then we do.
  15. if its a r33 or r34 gtr pump there good for 400rwkw if the supply cable is done properly but the injectors will run out at 300rwkw.
  16. well guy come out and slags a product will no proof or fact so i felt it only fair to defend it will a few facts. And i like SK stand by the APEXI PFC as the best choice even if it requires a new loom as the cost will be out weighted when it comes to tuning as the pfc has 90% of the work done already and in the hands of a good tunew is only a couple of hours from a perfect tune no matter the state of mods to the rb (verse for example i was quoted 2 days to get a motec system up to speed) motec is awesome no doubt but you are starting from scratch with they systems and at the $$ per hour rate of dyno and tuner.
  17. ok name a 8 sec factory ecu gtr for us all mate as the car i talk of is well known around the world and has run in a number of different country not some .... imagination or is this all just i could be build like every other dreams comments(with not proof just babble). Next time you slag a product bring a brain and some fact or proof even. APEXI PFC in my and hugh number of rb drivers around the world consider this the best plug and play ecu for street use (value for money like no other) Apexi drag car runs over 1100hp and 8 sec 1/4 KW 8 and 9sec still runs the apexi pfc in his drag car(s) for monitoring a long side his full motec system, would you think he would buy both and installing a pfc if they were shit if he had a full motec going in also. well some real cars and fact to chew on pete
  18. we have a bright one here. the pfc has run everything from 8sec drag gtr (1100 plus hp) to you every day driver plug and play and is most likely the most uesd and loved after market ecu for an RB engine bar none.
  19. SK spot on as usual but i will add that as you up the pressure on the pump its flow rate goes south down time, like a direction reverse of the flow/pressure relationship of the injector. If you increase the pressure the pump has to supply by 10% you will lose alot more than 10% total flow from the pump. pete ps my R33 gtr runing std fuel pump and std pressure on to 700cc injectors has made 530rwhp with duty cycle to spare on injectors.
  20. i think you'll find reasonable success with std cams but looking at the turbo size and ecu i think you won't be happy with the results until you fit some cams as normally i haven't seen much over mid to low 400's rwhp with std cams and i would have thought you would be aiming a bit higher than that? But ha best of luck and keep us all informed as it great to people trying different style combos. pete
  21. Hi shaun, Have you fitted any cams/cam wheels or have you ported the head at all? Nice neat engine bay by the way hope it all goes well for you. pete
  22. Just a quick question are you feeding your fuel rail from both end with the return from the centre, as i can only see feed on the front? pete
  23. me second that PFC is the best ecu to run pete
