  1. i've actually switched to psi mode so the values are between -99 and supposed to go up to 100 (positive) since 10psi would display as 100 (the whole x10 thing with greddy ebc) from reading other threads on the topic and the manual for my ebc, I got the impression that once I get boost ie. running above 3000rpm, the EBC is supposed to hold the boost at 10psi STEADY ... but I haven't seen it steady yet. Is it supposed to be steady only at full throttle ? I seriously don't know how boost works .. all I know is I hear the turbo spool up when I gun it a bit (1/2 throttle or so) and reach about 2700rpm. Another issue ... when I had the car dynoed recently, we lost boost at one of the dyno runs .. mechanic said the wastegate actuator got stuck open, that's why. Apparently due to the aftermarket dump pipe not lining up 100%. I'm a bit worried about this causing issues constantly .. is the actuator likely to get stuck open again if it's done it once before?? What should I do about it? How would I know if it does get stuck?
  2. Got a Greddy EBC installed the other day by CRD .. they dynoed it a few times to find the best 'high' setting and apparently the highest the stock ecu would do without making funny stuff was 10psi (with 11psi there was a huge dip in the power curve) Anyway, I drove with the hi setting around since I got it as 10psi is safe enough etc. However I've noticed on the boost controller's display the boost goes from -99 to very low positive values and it goes up and down as I shift through the gears. Is this normal? is it supposed to hold full 10psi boost ONLY when I'm at full throttle? ie. only once I hit 3000rpm and my revs stay at above 3000rpm ie. not around town where you constantly have to shift down and can't run full throttle. I'm a bit confused about whether the ebc is supposed to hold at half and less throttle or just at full throttle .. as it is currently, most of the times it displays negative value between -99 and -10 and it goes up and down fast as I'm driving. If I put the foot down a bit it tends to go into the LOW positive values 10 or 20 (ie. 1 or 2 psi) but it goes down quickly..... but this is all around town. Maybe my understanding of how boost works is all wrong and this is all normal. By the way - would you guys recommend CRD to tune a powerfc on an R34 GTT ? They said they'd do it for $650 which seems cheaper than anyone else. I just scored a pfc via japanese auctions for less than $300 total using importmonster.com.au
  3. my car's black (it's in the thread title).. thanks John, got any more piccies by any chance? I'd almost decided on smoked but the clears on black look pretty sweet too by the way, what's that front bar you got?? I liiike.
  4. just got my gtt recently and have already spent way too much money on mods, wheels etc and to hear stories like this sends chills down my spine. I've parked at SC a few times and noticed the lack of cameras and security and always wondered what I might find when I come back.. If you work there and have to park frequently I'd get some mates to distribute letters for a few days to drivers as they come in to the car park, warning them that the carpark is completely insecure and that break-ins occur frequently. That might spring SC into action as I'm sure they'd get tired of concerned customers hassling them and asking questions about the carpark security.. A hundred HD cameras and a few dedicated carpark patrols would cover it nicely and casino could easily absorb those costs plus get the extra benefit of bragging rights for running a secure carpark which could only encourage more punters and give them good publicity (for a change). For a casino to not have a 100% secure carpark is an absolute joke. They have a million cameras covering the gaming floors - a few more to look after their customers expensive cars is not much of an ask.
  5. Bump! Price drop to $550 Cmon this is a steal!
  6. where'd you see the smoked sides at JJ for $41? I'm looking at their web site and it says $99 Oh yeah and where are you getting the fronts for less than $100? Are they genuine nismo ones or cheap copies?
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISMO-MAT-SET-4-SKY...1742.m153.l1262 $290 ...bit steep esp. with $60 shipping. First thing I noticed on the interior that I didnt like on my R34 were the factory grey mats .. look so 80's. Almost as bad as having a persian rug in there heh. So nismo carpets it is ... as soon as I have some spare cash lying around.
  8. my car's black with dark tints and dark titanium wheels .. I'm a DOSKI copycat ;lD
  9. I'm leaning towards the smoked ones as they look less ricey but I'd love to see both side by side (clear and smoked) on a black R34 (gtt if possible!!) performance-wise on ebay has a good price (approx. $200 for both front and side indicators) for anyone else interested in getting these (next cheapest one was JJ who charge about $375 for front and sides)
  10. is that a question lol? Because I wouldn't have a clue which is why I'm asking .. are those 2 parts of the tranny and if so, is this a sign of a serious issue looming around the corner or common on 10+ year old cars? cheers
  11. Hey Guys ever since I bought my car I've noticed that there's a very slight humming (like aircon fan turned on the lowest setting) coming from the center of the car (transmission?) But if you press the clutch pedal in all the way the noise disappears. If you depress the clutch it comes back ..if you press the clutch it goes away again etc What could this be a sign of? Cheers
  12. guys ... if I had someone who can remap my stock R34 ecu, who can up the boost (to 10.5 - 11 ) and fix up the AFR - would this be a better alternative to getting a safc and boost controller? I mean it'd be cheaper but are there any disadvantages of doing it like that?
  13. Yeah I'm in sydney mate.. By the way, can you up the boost with a remap too and then tune the AFR? I'd prefer not to have to buy a SAFC2/Boost controller if I don't have to.
  14. hi toshi can you do R34 GTT ecu remapping? I currently have only a turbo back exhaust .. but I want to get a boost controller and put the boost up to 11 and then have the ecu remapped so as to get a good/safe afr etc What's the cost? Would a SAFC2 be a better option than a remap?
  15. he'n in melbourne .. but that's ok there just happens to be a thread about safc tuners in sydney, in the nsw section at the moment Cheers
  16. not sure what the deal is with the different AFRs but they're not that different (0.3 difference) Where do you see 9 AFR ?? I see .. thanks. Is SAFC preferred/better than a stock ecu remap ? I know most people will say just go with PFC but I can't afford it ($2k tuned)
  17. Bump. Price is negotiable. Cmon peeps, it's pretty decent rubber on them wheelzes!
  18. Maybe the safc is a pain in the ass to reprogramm and it can take several tunes to get it right so $300 x several times = price of pfc tuned. Pfc tuned is about $2k. Great if you wanna mod your car and keep doing it ... but I just can't justify that sort of cost when some people just simply remap their stock ecu and get a nice result apparently.
  19. Ok here are the 2nd dyno results ..one thing I found interesting is the PSI. The first dyno I think I was reaching 9.1psi on this one, never went over 8. What gives? Also is there any easy fix for the AFR issue (running rich at load) ?? Like a new AFM ?
  20. Oh yeah .. if theres anyone else in Sydney who's got an R34 GTT with only a turbo back exhaust as a mod (stock boost, ecu and everything else0 I'd love it if you could take your car for a dyno at Bel's. I'll pay 50% of the dyno costs to sweeten the deal for anyone interested ;-) Just need something as a reference on the same dyno to be sure I don't have any problems with my car.
  21. The car feels the same as it did yesterday .. but it does ease my mind a bit because this tells me that there's probably nothing wrong with the car and I just got used to the power. Biggest mistake I made was not to dyno it stock, before the exhaust and timing belt ... I'll post the 2nd dyno results tommorow ..just can't be farked scanning and editing the images now. According to this 2nd dyno I'm making 166rwkw but according to the graphs, I'm not making any more than 8psi boost at any point and above 4500rpm I'm running very rich, low 10's ... but I haven't really noticed any smoke or crap on my bumper bar. Not sure if I should be worried about the afr at load because I rarely hit those rpms anyway (don't do much highway driving at all) The shop suggested I get a SAFC + tune to fix the AFR and get maybe 10-15kw extra. I was thinking SAFC, Greddy EBC (11 psi) and do an ECU reset/remap and be done with it .. don't really need much more power for a street car. However the shop told me the R34 stock ecu can't be remapped/changed.. hmm? Maybe they just meant 'remapping is shit' compared to safc/pfc as alternatives. I'd love to give the car to a skyline mechanic to go over everything and make sure everthing's aight but it's getting bloody expensive .. these 2 dynos alone cost me $250 now.
  22. Hmm .. I was there today to do a dyno run and one of the guys was tryng to convince me to get a SAFC as my car's running a bit rich under load. He said he had a used one for $250 and fully tuned it would come to $550 so I'm not sure why they told you a $1000, unless they were trying to flog something else when you were there (had a spare pfc around they wanted to get rid of? lol ) To be perfectly frank, the place seems like a boy racer hell ... the tuner bloke was really nice and knew his stuff, but the general feel I got from the shop was "show us your money and we'll find something to sell you"
  23. "Has the cam timing been checked yet? The power doesnt sound particularly low, especially if its auto." yes it has (didn't read the opening post? naughty!) and no it's not an auto, it's a manual. ANYWAY, I've just done a dyrno run at another garage and got a very different result (166rwkw) on both runs. Now before I post the graph printouts, I wanna make sure this doesn't start a shitstorm of any sort accusing the garage of running a 'happy dyno' etc esp. since they are a sponsor/trader here. If you reckon it's a 'happy dyno', which personally, wouldn't surprise me having read so much on this topic on SAU... just to keep it to yourself, please don't get this thread locked/deleted by making disparaging remarks or accusations. Cheers
  24. guys ... I'm not saying I should be getting 300rwkw. I just haven't seen a single other R34 GTT owner who has posted as low a power figure as 145 after a dyno. Maybe they're all suffering in silence? Anyway, don't forget that I FEEL less power from the car than I did before the timing belt ... I've been outrun (not racing on purpose, just as a coincidence of traffic congestion) by everything from an audi v6 to a toyota yarris. The car just doesn't seem to have that 'oomph' anymore when the turbo starts spooling up. And the dyno results just seem to back that up.
