Is My Steering Column Ruined? (pictures Inside)
nizmonut replied to HuH's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
sheesh they really were ammature thieves werent they, when my ute got done they used a slide hammer on the key barrell tumbler and then used a screw driver to turn the ignition itself. what a mess, they other idea would be to drop the key ignition all together and and get a race car setup with push button starter and ignition switches etc. see your local leccy, i dont think it would cost much to install a panel, also the next time a thief walks along and sees the car without an ignition hes more likley to walk away scratchin his head. -
Stock R32 Driveline Rpm Vs Speed Numbers
nizmonut replied to BRZI's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the set up you got there is perfect for drag racing, unfortunatley the down side to that is the gas consumption, my ole gtst was 1200rpm at fifty kms an hour in 5th, and sit bang on 2800 rpm @ 100kph. so yeah changing the diff ratio will fix your problem, but i hardly call that a problem. -
Hicas Playing Up
nizmonut replied to GimpyDammit's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah, what has happened is it has damaged the seals on the steering rack, with all the hydralic pressure on one side and the wack from the other i wouldnt be surprised if you have bent the steering arm aswell. it costs an arma and a leg to fix the hicus system. search "hicus lock bar", this will be the cheapest way to repair the damages. -
what i would like to see kids is a holden crewman powered gts4 skyline, with a ls1 or a 3.2 litre twin turbo v6. have i inspired anyone yet, just plant the seeds and see if they grow.

Spec 1 Ingnitio Amp Into Spec 2 Loom
nizmonut replied to dannyuk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
if you havent guessed, the 3 litre v6 maxima/nivara/300zx/ rb 20de/t/series one 25de/t/rb30se autech/rb26's de and dett/ the 2.5 v6 nissan cefiro alone with its earlier rb powered ancestor aswell as the nissan laurel all use a six wire in 7 out amplifier that can be swapped between each other simpliy by disassembling the plug and shifting the earth wire from either the center pin to the end of the amp, amps in this range are made by hitachi, tridon australia bosch nissan you can also use a amp from a holden/vauxhaul commodore/monaro as this will match the coil pack used when the idea of wasted spark on a skyline was conceived. -
followed by followed by followed by the vl was never a good design, it took tom walkinshores race team a whole year of development and millions of dollars to make that car not only look good but reduce the drag effecent low enough to be competetive agianst the likes of the jaguar, cosworths and even the volvo's let alone a nissan skyline.

Spec 1 Ingnitio Amp Into Spec 2 Loom
nizmonut replied to dannyuk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
pull the coil plugs out 1 to six, go buy a amp from bosch or triden for a nissan maxima, on it you will have a six pin plug one side and 7 pin the other, on the in side the pins are labeled 123456, wire the trigger wires from each coil 1 to 6 in said order. on the other side is 123E456 wire a earth wire from the centre to ground , join wires 1 and 6, 2 and 5, 3 and 4 then run them to three pins on one side of the wasted spark coil pack, on the other side are three more pins, they go to +12v. -
any one tried wiring and plumbing up two afm's in paralell?

put your key in the on position, undo the CAS and then listen very carfully while you turn the cas you will hear the injectors "clicking" as they open and shut. all six injectors should "click" with four complete turns of the cas keyway. 3 injectors squirt fuel per revolution of a 6 cylinder engine, the cams are a reduction to 50 %, thats why you need to turn the cas four times to fire all six coils and injectors.

Something The Na's Are Superior Over The Turbos...

Installing Forward Plenum, Rb25
nizmonut replied to mattysaidso's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the only issue i had was having to replace the accelerator cable. -
un plug your sensors, pull the battery terminal, plug in all your sensors(for example the afm will default back to how it was if it isnt plugged in before the ecu is reconnected) get a 10ml spanner and move the CAS back to the middle of its adjustment...stand on the brake pedal for a good minute or so, then reconnect battery.. the car will run rough for a little while (15 20 minutes of driving) as the ecu learns all the settings again, make sure the car is warmed up when you do this as the timing is immediatley retarded for cold startup

nizmonut replied to Grunta's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
put it this way, how much power does your de 400/450kms per tank make? then ask the same of a det motor. most skylines will make 400 to 450 kms per tank if it is nursed, but if thats all ya gonna do go buy a toyta echo. the turbo is there to make it fun. -
hehehe, 881@ all four and using 5 dollar ngk's. its all in the timing dude, get it right and they only need changing every 10 000 kms. if its retarded or using shit fuel no sparkplugwill last that long you should change em when you do ya oil anyway.

cheap??? cheap and nasty, go for a middle price you should have peace of mind

Finance Options (chattel Mortgage)
nizmonut replied to mcmn's topic in General Automotive Discussion
unless you intend on keeping this car for a loonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggg time taking out a mortage to pay for a car is not a great idea....firstly in the worlds economic climate at the moment you are going to be hard pressed to find a lender who will give a loan for a folden falcodore let alone a twin turbo japanese supercar, the best way to do it is to go to your bank and with a buisness plan saying you want X amount of dollars for " buisness expansion". for example dont walk in there as a sign writer saying you want a sick as rolling billboard to post your handy work on? they just say why not a toyota hilux? thats where banks lending istitutions and insurers make there money. not on the limited edition audi Q7's, they are in the market of making money on mass, insure the house mums toyota echo shopping trolley and lots of them. the bank manager will investigate the market that you are in I.E signwriting and will wiegh the risk, because after all, it is there money and they want a return on it, and a good one in the vacinity of 18 to 27% return, thats alot of intrest, your 19,995 dollar gtr turns into 35,995 over a period of 10 to 15 years on a mortagage. not only that, the gtr isn't a 2 acre section with a four bedroom house and double garage, its a car, and cars depreciate at the average rate of 1000 dollars a year, over 10 to 15 years your car is now a book value of 5 to 9 thousand dollars. and if you crash it your screwed because the bank owns it and if its your fault they arent gonna give you the money for another one. the best ever way (and cheapest) to pay for a car is cash, an unsecured loan so the car isnt a chattle, but the intrest is higher, a car loan, but being a private buisness operator its even harder to get loans because youre a greater risk, 60% of small buisnesses fail in the first year and then of the other 40% only half make it past the 3 year mark. thats what your facing, and then after all of that and you decide you want to sell or close up your buisness activities you have to pay back the gst on the car if you want to keep it. and thats not gst on its current value, thats the gst when it was bought. i have been through this and if you havent got the capital the best way is probably a personal loan or unsecured, dont go secured because if you injure yourself at work and cant make a living the repo man will come knocking. not cool. -
dude"shakes head", your meant to ask these questions before you buy the car.... atleast take the club members advice, sell it and buy a gtst, you'll be better of financially later on with less trouble.

you will also find intake temp sensors on vh and vg41/45's nissan v8.however if a rb20det never had one id say it will never need one. mine rb3026 with hks f con pro v made the afms and intake temp cold start etc all redundant. so i dont really know why a aftermarket ecu would need one at all, oil temp can tell you the state of flogged bearings and if you have a good aftermarket watertemp sensor and gauge it can usually tell you weather your timing is to advanced or retarded as the more retarded it is the more heat is trapped in the head and obviously the hotter the water jacket.

3 Piece Rims, What Is The Best Way To Color Them?
nizmonut replied to CEF11E's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
regardless of powder coat or paint who ever you get to do it is going to sand the polished surface so the new paint/powdercoat will bond to the rim properly. -
the old vl commodore's are good for cracked heads, especially if you can get one with a 30 block.

A Truck Ran Over My Skyline. :(
nizmonut replied to GreyGTST's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
the law of physics dictate that the truck drive doesnt give shit and expects the car to move for him. -
yeah thats a gtr sump alright and looking at the rest of the sub frame with those hydralic hoses running across the front of the sump id say the entire lot is off a gtr as it would have the wider wheel track, pumped, vented gaurds etc, with the rear hicus plumbed back into the resoviour... typical conversion. then all they do is spacer the rear hubs and flare the gaurds to match the front.. you should be ok sr20dets are similar just missing two cylinders and an extra turbo.
