  1. Well I can tell you one thing that isnt a lie - I will be running the stock fuel pump! And so what Roy - you going to be running a similar set-up to Gareth now?
  2. Yeah but with a wolf 3d and the tuners from WA you can get some AMAZING (you could almost say UNBELIEVABLE) results.
  3. Well actually what Ive done is simply taken the power fc out, put a wolf 3d in, played with the timing and a few other little things and now Im hoping for around 450rwkw's. Still running stock injectors, turbo's fuel pump etc of coarse. The most expensive part was paying for the tuners from WA to come over and do it for me - but Im expecting the results to be worth the money spent.
  4. full-boost. Faster depends on what you are talking about. In a 1/4 mile race then yes I believe the 32 is the fastest due to its weight. But in a lap around a race track the 34 will be the quickest. The technology advances in the ATTESA etc are far superiour in the R34.
  5. Yeah Jack it should be good - Frank's car packs a punch too and I remember how easily he used to pull away at Phillip Island on the straights so hopefully that wont be the case anymore. Now that your engine is a lot tuffer Im interested to see what power you run. The funny one will be Abs. He doesnt have stickies but he does have more ponies than we do so that will be an interesting comparision. None of us (except for Frank) have run at Calder before I dont believe, so the track is still unknown to me - but by looking at the picture I can see semi's being a huge benifit in that fast chicane. I reckon you may be able to take it flat out with good rubber!?!? Don't know exactly.
  6. Who do I need to do CAMS licencse for before this event? And if you do need one - who has the forms already and who needs me to bring some with me?
  7. Great stuff Scott. Looks like we'll have another member for the 2WD Standard Class. You should have some fun competing against the Standard GTSTs mate! Be interesting to see how you compare.

    Leaving VIC!

Hey Lukas - we have a place up in Cairns (Clifton Beach) and I must say I think it's the best place in Oz. My long term goal is to move up there. Due to other committments I don't know if I can make it up there this year although with flights up there so damn cheap I might even come up just for a weekend or something. (Got an email from Jetstart this am offering flight to Cairns 1 way for $69)
  9. So glad Heidfield got the drive. Less than 5 weeks to go! BTW - who's invading to come see this? I'm happy to arrange a dinner somewhere for fellow SAU'er to catch up after the event! BTW - Here's some stats on the FW27 that I found pretty amazing: 1.3 terabytes of aero data processed in CFD (1 terabyte is a thousand million bytes, equivalent to 69,333 volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica. 250,000 man hours of design time has been spent on the FW27, with a further 250,000 man hours required in fabrication and build. 4,500 drawings have been produced in the design of the FW27 chassis. End-on-end, these drawings would stretch for 5,350km with a further 4,000 expected to be produced to support the FW27’s lifecycle. By the end of the season, drawings would reach from London to Buenos Aires. The FW27 will accelerate from standing to 200kmh in five seconds, and deceleration forces on board will reach 5g. 1g equates to driving into a brick wall at 30kmh. Brake temperatures to generate the deceleration will reach 600 ºC in one second On board the FW27, exhaust temperatures reach 950 ºC and even the air temperature in the pneumatic valve system reaches temperatures two and half times boiling point at 250 ºC. The BMW P84/5 contains 5,000 individual components, and takes 100 man hours to build. BMW have historically produced approximately 200 engines per season, but this figure will reduce in 2005. BMW produce 1,000 drawings in the design of each engine. The BMW engine weighs less than 90 kilograms. At 19,000 rpm, 316.7 revolutions and 1,583.3 ignitions take place each second in the BMW F1 engine. 9,500 engine speed measurements are made, the pistons cover a distance of 25 metres, and 550 litres of air are drawn in. In the P84, maximum piston acceleration was 10,000g. Peak piston speed was 40 metres per second.
  10. Hey Jack - good stuff man. You can say Hi to my car when your down at Benno's! LOL If your pushed for time - I'd suggest the HICAS Kit will be the least noticable at Calder. Its a really good thing at say Winton and Phillip Island where the HICAS can be a bit unusual around the sweepers - but Calder is all hairpins, chicanes and strights. I see Franks name is also down on the list now so we all have someone to chase. That makes it at least 12 Skylines.
  11. 15:1! Man put me down for $10 on that bet mate! Easy money! Na it's great news to hear that the car might be running for 2005. Be good to finally see what you can actually do on the track mate!
  12. Guys - the best example I can give you is a work place accident. If someone hurts themselves at work then the employers/supervisors are liable for that accident. Even if the person that gets hurt just comes into the workplace and aren't even employed. That is why you see signs about authorised personel only. If something happens on a cruise then the people organising the cruise are liable. If something happens and the person is a member of a CAMS affiliated club then CAMS will cover the insurance. If they are not a member of a club then the orgainisers of the cruise become liable once more. Consequently we have the right to ask people not covered by CAMS to leave. As Adz said - others can organise open cruises at any stage if they wish. But be aware that anyone doing so will be liable and they will NOT be SAU Vic cruises. They will be the responsibility of whomever does the orgainising. But events orgainised by the Club - where the club claims liability - will be for people who fall under the protection of the CAMS insurnace. Again - I hope people understand that. Some people don't mind complaining about paying the $50 - but I dont see them offering to put their house / car / etc on the line to orgainise something for people whom they may not even knows benifit.
  13. As I said in the other thread Andrew there were 9 spots left as of this morning.
  14. Karina - all "multi-club" events will be posted in the main Vic section such as this thread. Any person's wishing to attend that are not SAU-Vic members but whom are members of another CAMS affilliated club can contact one of the club committee for details.
  15. Guys, This has been stated in previous meetings and discussions. When a club organises a large public event that club - and most especially the committee of that club - become liable for anything that may happen on that cruise. By allowing members only to come on these cruises we are now covered by CAMS insurnace in the unlikely event of a public liability claim. Please try and understand. Last year we had 60+ cars on our cruises. Do you really think its fair that I would get the blame and become liable because someone else's wheel came off and hit some body. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be in that position. Nick - I have also spoken to CAMS this morning for you - and it seem's that we can run this cruise as a "multi-club" event so that any person in any CAMS affiliated club can attend and be covered.
  16. God damn! I've only replied in the equivilent thread on the wrx forums! Funny the differing opinions from both seperate places! I won't repeat myself from there but will add a few things (some just for fun). For those that don't know I own an MY03 Rex and an R34 GTR V Sepc. As far as off the line acceleration goes - the GTR owns the rex in that regard. Now I run a twin plate clutch in the GTR so I kind have to kick it in the guts anyways so that helps in this matter. But what I have found with the rexes is that especially in the 1st - 2nd gear change the car is very clunky and if you push the car off the line you really have to ride the clutch through 1st-2nd or else you will get a very hard bang in the car. Same if you are launching the car - you can't just drop the clutches on them. People in here have mentioned the gearboxes as a problem in the rexes as well. Let me tell you from first hand experience that there's nothing fantastic about the R34 getrag gearbox. I've busted mine twice - and Im sure not the only one out there do so. The design of the getrag makes it very very easy to do. And unlike the 32/33 gearbox there isnt really any options for upgrades out there unless you want to go to a dogbox or sequential. Now - my mate Tony with his Black STi. We had some good little battles last year. I got him at Phillip Island (for the record I ran a 1.49.3 to his 1.50.8) but at Sandown it was reversed (1.24.8 to 1.25.8). BUT - at Sandown I had crappy rear tyres with consequent massive oversteer so I couldn't get the corner speeds required onto either of the straights. But he's going down next time. LOL. And he'll struggle at Calder cause from all accounts its a power track and that where I have the advantage. Winton later in the year will be a good test however.
  17. Simon - what about a Shelby Daytona? This one just finished 6th outright in the Mt Buller Spint. Certainly a very cool car!
  18. Oh - and that Daytona finished 6th outright. Must go as good as it looks.
  19. Just by the way - I'd quickly like to congratulate one of our estemed SAU Vic members - Geoff Beable - on another fine effort. He finished a very commendable 32nd outright. All results can be found on the website. www.mtbullersprint.com
  20. Simon. re: Mustang. There is a guy in Vic by the name of Mark Tierny who has a serious Stang. Including things like a Holinger Sequential Gearbox. And it's fast. And sounds amazing! Has done some laps around Sandown around the 1.23s mark. Apparently James knows him and he's a nice guy. He's also the Oz distributer for the Elf Racing fuels. Perhaps you could give him a buzz and see what he has to say?? His details can be found on his website: http://www.racefuels.com.au/contactRacingFuels.asp
  21. Ok - I've owned both so I feel some what in a position to talk about this topic (and not for the first time one here! LOL) One of the biggest problems in this arguement is what we are basing the NSX on. Are we talking about NSX's as available in Japan (such as the Spec R) or just whats available here in Oz. An R34 GTR would seriously whip an Oz NSX in any race you want to have. The main reason why I sold my NSX to buy an R34 GTR was because the Oz delivered NSX was very difficult to do anything with other than what it came stock as without spending a pointless amount of $$$. Apparently the diff's in the normal NSX were not designed to take any extra power. And upgrading the diffs was a very expensive exersize - not to mention that finding anyone that know's what they are doing on an NSX in Oz is also very limmited. The GTR with very little spent on it so far out performs the NSX that its not funny. If I had access to an NSX R then the story would be different. But we can't get them here. One thing about the NSX though is the refinement. Its something the GTR lacks. The GTR really is a race car. The NSX is a Grand Tourer. So it depends on what you are after. And it depends on what you define as a supercar. For me - the R34 is much better than the NSX ever was. But my wife prefered the NSX.
  22. Club Championship Thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=62383
  23. You don't have to be a member - just have to register for the forums. It's free ffs! Just do it! PS - you were on the list yes. There are 9 guys on the SAU confirmed list. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/ca...ay=2005-2-5&c=3 I know of another 2 people not on that list apparently coming so thats not a bad little turn out for the first event (I wasnt expecting more than 10 to be honest!) So - I think I will start up a new thread in the members section regarding classes for the club championship. If you are interested please give your comments.
  24. Guys, If you have sent your entry form in before the weekend - please check this list for confirmation. (You may have to sign up to the forum to read this one) They usually update the list a few times a week. This will also tell you your competition number if you want to get that organised before hand. They have asked for numbers to be black on a white back ground. The numbers can not be placed behind tinted glass. http://www.wrx.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?...db39326ad9650fb
  25. Well actually the main part of the cost will be in replacing all the staionary etc apparently - but still it seems excessive to me. Why don't they just bring back the good old "Victoria - The Garden State" one. That was nice. How about Victoria - Home of VB Or Victoria - Shaped Like a Triangle. or Victoria Victoria Victoria - Oi Oi Oi Or Victoria - We Couldn't Get the Olympics so we Settled for the Commonwealth Games. Afterall - its that great event which is bringing about the need for this new slogan anyways.
