BTW - the weather forecast for the weekend is currently awesome so it looks like beach conditions for those staying the weekend. (High 20's all 3 days currently) So this means if anyone has a vortex it will be required. Also - anyone coming have a skiffle board????? Would love to have a go!

SAU NSW Track Day, Wakefleld Park Goulburn, 19 March 2005
Snowman replied to Duncan's topic in Archived Events
Exactly - Wakefield sounds like a gay place to bring a GTR. Eastern Creek sounds like somewhere I could have some fun. And for the record - I wouldn't suggest for people to drive from NSW to come to either Calder or Winton. I'd only suggest the drive for Sandown or better still Phillip Island! -

Duncan - if a) You give me some decent notice and B) You have one at Eastern Creek I would love to come up there. I just can't get excited about driving that distance for Wakefield. -
SAU Vic General Meeting - Tuesday 15th March 2005 **NEW LOCATION**
Snowman replied to adznight's topic in Archived Events
Actually guys - they have more than one "function" area at this pub including one up-stairs. For this up-coming date there is another function being held so we are not 100% sure which room we are in - so if you arrive and can't find us just ask at the bar. Normally we will be in the front room that looks out onto Moray St at the Northern End of the pub and I still hope we will be there for this meeting as well. -
Anyone who drinks a bright green drink is just asking to be ill! LOL
-
Mr Brisby - I have an EVC 3 sitting in my office doing nothing if you need it for the weekend. Aaron - you are on the list so you don't need to worry. They haven't updated the list since Feb 25th however so I have just shot off a PM to the motorsport director to get an updated list so everyone that has entered can confirm their entries have been received.
-
Come on Chris - you have a stage 1 weight reduction now. That's usually worth a few seconds per lap on Gran Turismo! Speaking of which - I will be bringing GT4 to PI for the weekend.
-
Just a reminder if people want a place to let us know! Also - people who are coming be aware you will need to bring your own bed linen.
-
And to also make you feel better the Ice Supra has withdrawn so you only have to compete against Roy, Geoff and Denham (Gareth still unknown) - and 2 of them are a big show of catching on fire anyways and the others have had less track experience than you. But yes the Classes are just for internal competition and are 99% for fun.

Did anyone do much in the way of drinking on Sunday? I had one beer at about 11:30am and it went down very slowly to the point where the decision was made that it was my last for the day! LOL We should also make a list of appologies. I know of the following people that deserve one! Emre Jarrod Scotsman Archie The Aisian people at the table next to us at Taco Bills. Who else copped some abuse Sat night?

Frank WILL go down at PI. It will probably be the only track this year I will have a chance though. Because consider Franks PB is currently 1.47.7 and mine is 1.49.3 (1.4s diff) - but now I will be going from 250rwkw's to 325rwkw's where as Franks' car is the same. And my car has a whole lot more stickers than Franks which counts for a bit down there. At this track the brakes are not so much of an issue. And I think Franks suspension/diff set-up is better suited to the lower speed stuff which is why is he so much faster at Calder and Sandown. But either way I think this will be a pretty close contest. Al - to cover your question RE: Ant and Standard Class. It was decided that 2 things could put you into Modified. 1 - Sticky tyres (So Aaron you in Modified AWD!) and 2- Turbo upgrades WITH approapriate fuel system modifications. So whilst Ant has high flowed his turbo - he is still (as far as I am aware from discussions with him) running the stock fuel system (fuel pump and injectors). So because he also runs normal tyres he is still in Standard Class. ECU's suspension, brakes etc were all free in Standard Class.

Denham. The fuel comes from VPW - 541 High Street, Epping - Victoria 3076 The fuel you want is the Sunoco GT Plus 104 (they have a few different types but this is the one you want). Cost $120 for a 20L drum. One drum will last 2 track days. FYI - this is the stuff Benno uses. www.vpw.com.au Also Denham - you are in 2WD modifed. You are against Roy, Geoff, Gareth (if he's coming).... and the Ice Supra!
-
No worries Wayne. At this current stage you will be competing against Ant, heartbrkr and Chrisman (in a TX5) within the club. Now - if you didnt realise we are all pretty much staying down at PI for the weekend. There are still beds available so you (and if you have a Mrs even) are more than welcome to join us - for either just one night or all weekend if you wish.
-
RUS - on the entry form we are all in class Associate. However - we have an internal club championship run independantly. What are your cars details?
-
Geoff - before you go destroying anything be aware that my car was 260RWKW's - i.e. no front drive shaft in (as neither Ice nor Racepace have a 4WD dyno.) So I wasnt making that power at all 4 wheels.

R34 GTR Nismo MFD Data-logger
Snowman replied to Snowman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The files are saved as *.gtr files. It should be noted that the Japanese program supplied by Nismo looks for *.csv files. There is an function at the top of the datalogger under the header of "Tools" which is called "Log->CSV" but it doesn't seem to do anything. If you try and open the file in Notebook for example is is just a whole bunch of gobbly goop. The csv files that the Nismo program is the format I really need so i guess I want to know how I convert the saved *.gtr files to a csv file. PS - WLDCRD - first you need to get your car out of the workshop before a datalogger would be even remotely uselfull to you! LOL -
Denham - Im using the 103 from Rigoli. The advantage of that stuff (compared to the others such as the 110) is that you don't need a log book or anything like that to purchase it. As I stated earlier it's being used just for some safety rather than performance. As Benno said - for $60 for the day (10L) it's the best insurance you can buy. But speaking of this fuel - Jack has my drum and I haven't heard if he's actually coming down for sure to this event or not yet. If you read this Jack can you let me know what your intensions are cause if you aint coming I will have to get my drum from you before hand.

Hey guys, I recently upgraded my MFD to the Nismo version in my GTR. One of the funtions this comes with is a data-logger. The disc that comes with the Nismo circuits for this is all in Japanese and means nothing to me. However - there is an english version available through GTR Central found here: http://www.gtrcentral.com/technical/e-manuals/ That side of things is all sweet. I have installed the English version, have done some test runs and it all works great and have made some recordings. My problem is now - what program do you use to review the data recorded. I have tried excel and both the english and japanese versions of the Nismo software and I can't do anything with the saved data. But there is obviously no point in doing data logging if you cant review the information. Does anyone know what program is required to do this? in advance (even though I'm not hopefull of getting much help on this! LOL)

At Sandown down here there is about 5s time difference between good semi's and crappy rubber.
-
You bet ya sweet peppy I will be running that. Will be running 10L of race fuel in the tank just for that little extra protection however (no timing advances or power increases with the fuel - just using for safety margin). And yeah guys Phillip Island is a track where you will continue to take time off of your PB's for the first several times you go at least as it take so long to gain the confidence (grow the wang!) to get the best out of that track. I think from memory the difference from my best time on my first day there and my 4th day there was 8 secs (1.57 - 1.49). Pretty much took 2secs off every visit.
-
Yeah I went the twins instead. Was so much easier. Am running 325rwkw's @ 19psi. Which is just enough.

Well it's only a few days to the first GP of the year and I feel like Big Kev. I think the thing that makes the Oz GP so exciting is the fact it's the first one for the year and you really don't know what to expect. Especially this year where we are seeing a host of new rules and a massive shuffle in driver line-ups. So what's everyones predictions? I remember last year in Winter testing Ferrari were off the pace and everyone was saying the new car was a dud. Only for Ferrari to come out and slaughter everyone in the first race.... and then for the rest of the season. As much as I don't want it to - I expect that will happen again. Next up I think will come McLaren. I think they will have a slight edge over Renault. But I am really looking forwards to the battle during the year with the 2 drivers. Whether McLaren can challenge Ferrari this year I think will depend on the reliability of the engine. The advantage McLaren have over the other main rivals is the 3rd car. This is huge now with the 2 race engine rule as it means they don't need to stress the 2 race cars during the testing sessions on a Friday / Saturday. The down side is you can expect to see little of Montoya and Raikonen before Saturday afternoon. I'm also expecting BAR to drop back if they have to limit the engine to survive the 2 races. Williams and Mark Webber I can't guess about right now. I have a funny feeling the car is better than what they are making it out to be. I guess we'll find out on the weekend. I hope it is and Mark kicks ass cause Im in the Williams marque for the GP and it will rock if he does well! My only concern with Mark is what happens if he farks up another start. Will they blame the Williams launch control as well? I've never been 100% convinced that those bad starts were all the cars fault. Toyota are gay and have drivers to suit. I expect neither of them to finish cause they will come up with some stupid reason to stop. Regardless Red Bull should beat them. If Minardi get to race then I can see them actually beating a Jordan. I think Minardi have the better drivers of the 2 teams and Jordon have done basically zero testing. But until the season starts I really have no idea and am just hoping we finally have a season worth staying up late on a Sunday night for. The only thing I am sure about is I will be seriously hammered over the weekend and Im hanging for this week to be over already!

There are a lot more people than are on that list wanting bed Roy (which is why I got the 3rd house). They will get there eventually! LOL.
-
Geoff will be there denham (I presumre) and also Anthony (heartbrkr) has one too - although to be very different his is a stock Auto!
-
I have also booked a house down there in the same suburb. Sleeps 13. So we have plenty of beds now if anyone want to come down for the weekend. Will be about $50pp for the whole weekend.
