That car came on a trailer and left on a trailer. I think it was expected. -

I look forwards to seeing the video. Scott - maybe would your old man like to come to the next club meeting with his stuff from both this event and Calder?? I'm really keen to see what pics he has - especially from the night session. Even though that pic of Chris's is out of focus the night pics are so cool! -
No I think the site they are from is having "moments". Seems I can get onto gregs site sometimes but others its unavailable. I dunno. Stupid interent.

Sorry Rianto - forgot to link the Sup Req's in my first post (fixed now) But is $140.

I think from memory there was even a granny pushing a shopping trolley that went past Emre down there.

West - you don't lose any points by missing a round. There is provisions to miss up to 2 rounds without losing any points. Also - no one will get kicked off for going too slow. There is no such thing. Despite the fact that it is a competition there still is no pressure to perform to any level other than what you are comfortable with. Especially at a place like the Island. It is said that most people that go there never get above 7/10th's at Phillip Island. However - you can push yourself pretty hard there and its a huge buzz to do so. The track is super long so you won't have to worry about being lapped there - and if there are some cars going past that started behind you this track is extremely wide so you can even easily get past without concern. But the best thing to do if you are worried about other cars is to start at the back. Emre did it there and it was really his first track day (appart from a couple of laps at Calder). All he did was go onto the straight at the start then pulled over to the side til everyone went past and then carried on at his own comfortable pace. Easy.

Brutus - it was the first track day for a bunch of the skyline guys at Calder and was also ALL of our first visit to that track - so you can forgive the guys for braking early especially since the first session was in the wet which didnt help the confidence at all.

I'm pissed I missed it. I just know my 30th's I had to go to weren't up to Team Wang standards. I will post up in the PI thread but I can see the need for maybe staying down there both Friday and Sat night after next round and have a good one! -

Come on Rosco - if you can get the boys to get your car ready then there is no reason not to come to PI. Its the widest track in Vic and by far the best surface. We also had last year a number of the crew doing their first track outting there. And none of them had any problems. So there's no issues in my mind about it being ok for beguiners. BUT it is a track that takes some time to get your best out of. Most of us took several days before we stopped taking time off as it is a track you have to get to know and gain confidence on. -
Ok - Round 1 has just finished but the entry forms for Round 2 are up already. Its the only WRX event for the year at Phillip Island so I would expect the entries to fill reasonably fast. Here the link for the entry forms: http://www.wrx.com.au/motorsport/forms/PIentry.doc Sup Req's http://www.wrx.com.au/motorsport/forms/PIs...rints120305.doc

Yeah at 1st I was taking that S in 2nd and finding I was hitting the limmiter at the top of the hill. When I was doing that I had to change to 4th just after the fast chicane. Once I tried doing the S in 3rd - even though at first the car felt just off boost I was making more speed judging by the fact I had to hit 4th before the chicane. -

I was in 3rd there Roy - with some serious boost so nfi exactly what speeds but I'd guess somewhere between 5,000-6000rpm. I was in 4th before the fast chicane anyways. All I was doing over the hill was making sure the car was pointing in the right direction because turning became a bit difficult as I topped the crest! LOL -

Hey ferni - was pipped by a guy in Open Class (O). Means a WRX in full race trim. Slicks etc. I can handle being beaten by that. The classes are for the WRX's in order of top to bottom. O = Open (Full race) SM = Super Modified (Like Tony in the Black STi) M = Modified (eg - Semi-comps, suspension) C = Clubman (Sti's) S = Standard (Stock WRX) -

Hey guys, Was great to get back out on the track. And great to give the new mods a test out. The car sure felt nice. But the highlight was seeing Roy complete a session without incedent! Which was impressive considering just how difficult a day that was. That track isn't friendly in my opionion - especially to learn on. Very bumpy in places, very slippery in spots and near impossible to drive on in the wet. But the fast chicane and the hill are very cool. And boy did it get tough once it got dark. Cause it seemed to be ok visaully but the grip was just gone. Having said that, the spectical of watching the flames and the red hot glowing brakes at night was fantastic. I hope we can get some photo's from the night session. Scott especially will have to let us know when his dad get's his photo's ready. In the wet session at the start he was near the final S just before the last turn and I know I was completely sideways there at one stage! LOL Gareth - the results for the day will be posted on the main page of the wrx club website in a few days. I will post a link once they are up. -

Well I started a thread last year about it but the answer is still inconclusive as yet. But basically the 32/33 gearbox has a 1:1 ratio in 4th. But the 34 box has its 1:1 in 5th. So I have an "extra" gear in there to play with. So it should be much easier to select a gear in a useable power range thus reducing the effects of lag. But having said that I havent driven the car with 2nd gear in over 6 months so I may forget I've even got it come tomorrow night! LOL. And Im guessing the 2 hairpins will be 2nd gear corners. But initially I will be trying them in 3rd anyways as my main objective tomorrow night is to come home with a fully functioning car - including gearbox, engine and panels. So if it means a bit of extra lag then so be it. Im not yet ready to test my direct 5th-2nd gear changing skills. I can't afford to break the damn thing again. -

Yeah Jack without the cams, and without spending hours checking every possible timing combination then your really not committed to the cause. But anyways.... the rain has stopped and I seem to be feeling a lot better today. Lets see if I can't make the shit stop. I saw your engine yesterday Jack - was looking good. But still had a long way to go. I should get my car back today which I can't wait for. Was speaking to Benno and it seem's you should have about 20rwkw's more than me so it will be fun to see exactly how much difference that makes. On the track the extra lag you have shouldn't be an issue I don't think? -

Well Roy it just so happens that the reason all this has come about is that I have picked up the distribution rights to Wolf here in Vic. So I can arrange to get you one no problems. I know Benno can't wait for the results - I'm sure he'll read this thread with in the next day so I'm sure he'll offer his thoughts on it all. Yeah what you have done Roy does have it's benifits as far as people being none the wiser. As you said people looking under the bonnet would just think its a standard RB20. Kinda like what Ive done. By using something like a Wolf to get my extra power - people couldn't tell by looking under the bonnet. No more than what you could tell if I had thrown a pair of 2530's on. -

Roy - wack in a wolf 3d with me - come along and we'll get the cars tuned together - and between the 2 of us we can produce some extra-ordinary results! We may be there all night however trying every single possible timing combination but Im sure with the imported knowledge Im bringing in it will be worth the sleepless night. The event doesnt even start until 4:00pm so we can have a kip in the morning.
