I might tag along to this meeting as well. If for no other reason that to get away from the wife for a few hours. Stuck at home all long weekend doing meaningless chores for the Mrs has nearly driven me around the twist! LOL

Robin - that sucks dude. If you can afford to rebuild the whole engine with forgies then DO IT. Mate the rest of the car is a monster and the stock internals is the only thing stopping that car from being a weapon of mass destruction. And I would get Ben to do it.

Obviously the sun up there in QLD has got to him.

If its GTR007 then its not a GTR - it's a badge special.

Now a green Cammo N1 racing though the forests of Tassie would be so cool. Shame the exhaust note and BOV would ruin any chance of stealth! LOL

I was under the impression Jeff Beable was running his new R34 N1 in Targa?

I must say some of that racing last night was awesome and what we all stay up late hoping to see. The bit where Ralf and Webber touched, Heidfield past both of them, Webber got Heidfield back, Ralf got Heidfield back then Heidfield got Ralf back all in a couple of corners was awesome. Only milli-meters in some of the moves. Only disappointing thing on the coverage was we didn't get to see Webbers pass on Fisi before they crashed out. As far as my opinion on the Webber/Fisi accident goes - as it stands Fisi locked up and slid into Webber. However - even if Fisi didn't lock up I think they would have hit as Webber moved in a lot closer than what he did when Ralf tried a similar thing earlier. There was no room for another car on the inside had Fisi made the move stick. And as much as Fisi was obviously slower they were still racing and he had the right to hold his spot. We have seen in F1 how hard it can be to pass at times even if the car behind is quicker. Still - one thing is for sure. Seems there will be plenty of late Sunday nights this year as we genuinely seem to have a competative season ahead of us in F1.

GTR Clutch suggestions
Snowman replied to confuzion's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I originally put in a 9 puck single and it disintergrated on me at Winton (circuit racing). Plate cracked in half basically. Am now running the Nismo G Max twin and think it's super. My car is about 325rwkw's. (GTR) -
For those that don't know about this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...99&page=1&pp=25 Go fill out the details. We need to get that silly New South Welshman in his rental car off our list!

Just cause you won go-karting doesn't make you a hero....... :jk: I was going to look at attending this round as a flaggy so as I said if people wanted to go to it then thats fine. BUT - thats the Hill Climb. This threads about WINTON. Lets worry about Morwell when the time comes.
-
Because the track surface is not up to grade IMO. People can still run there if they wish but SAUVic's stance is that we won't be encouraging people to do so for safety reasons. Surely you saw the result of Chris's car. Yes it was a drift day and he was a spanner - but in a hill climb you are actually trying to push faster and it's just too dodgy.
-
Also - I will quickly point out - I know there are the carrot's of Maserati Club @ Sandown and PIARC @ PI the week before and if you are thinking of missing this round and doing one of those due to costs - this will be the last "SAU Vic Club Championship Round" until mid June. We are not doing the Hill Climb at Morwell in May as part of the Club Championship.

Ok. The next Round of the WRX Club and also SAU Vic Club Championship is at Winton Raceway on Saturday April 16. Entry forms available here: http://www.wrx.com.au/motorsport/forms/Win...160405entry.doc Sup Req's http://www.wrx.com.au/motorsport/forms/Win...0405supregs.doc Cost to Enter: $110. Driver Training Only: $100 (non timed). Winton is the best "learning" track on the Vic circuit as there is basically very little to hit and damage a car with, the overall speeds are quite low (most won't get over 200km/hr) and there are minimal gear changes per lap (I usually do 4 a lap!). This leaves you to heaps of time to concentrate on lines and braking points. It's the perfect track to try and find your limit. You find spins and off track excursions are common here! It's also the home Track of Team Wang Racing! Some people may be interested to make a long weekend of it as Fridays are open for free practise. $100 for Fridays and you get 20mins of track time every hour. CAMS licences are NOT required for the Friday practise nor things like fire extinguishers etc, so if some people are going to do it and you have been thinking about joining track days but haven't been sure if it's for you then these open Fridays are a perfect chance to give it a shot.

See Jack - now you can appreciate why I say I think PI is one of the best tracks to learn on. No doubt PI is one of the most dangerous tracks in Oz - but I think it's more dangerous for experienced drivers that are pushing the envelope rather than beguiners. I think the "dangerous" places are far too scary for beguiners to be pushing in too hard. But as far as track surface, width and layout I think its a great learning track. The experts continue to disagree with me on this issue however. Wayne - you have been upgraded to Modified Class. Still a damn good timen you produced.

Yeah all I could smell for hours afterwards was petrol! Was a whole lot of fun. Even getting taken out at the begining was ok - all part of karting. Got to have some fun with Chris after he tasted water barrier as well. Congrats to Scott for the win - not bad for a TX5 driver. Look forwards to the next one.

The next "official" club WRX event is the following weekend (16th - Winton) but if there are people thinking of doing this weekend I'd highly recommend it. As Troy mentioned the Saturday you will get bucket loads of laps. I think I went through nearly 3 tanks of fuel the time we did it and boy do you get to learn the track. Be aware that there is no timing on the Saturday however - it is simply practise. What they do offer on the Saturday however is driver training - such that an experienced driver will come in the car with you and talk the lap through with you and give you some tips. This is a free service and you can use it as many times as you like during the day. Sunday is a usual Sprint Day. There are no supersprints - just timed sprints however. Also - it's a full noise meeting so you can run pipe if you wanted to!

I haven't seen too many Lime Green GTR's around. It doesn't actually look that bad....

One of our esteemed members - Jeff Beable - has aquired a new toy for his Targa challenges. A nice R34 GTR N1. Jeff has a slight problem that he finds the White a "Little Boring". So here is a picture of an N1 - can people with photoshop skills have some fun and give this car some new paint jobs to give Jeff some idea's. Remember - because its a Targa car it has to keep the original wheels (stupid rules!) so it's still got to look good with them on. Happy painting!

Guys - just finished updating the Club championship. Some other times of note really - Waynes (RUS) 2:01 is a standard RWD class car is awesome. Jack to run a 1.58 - mate you have come miles in one track day since Calder. There's still a big step from there to what the car COULD run but anything under 2:00mins means you are driving no matter what the power. And a special mention to Anthony (heartbrkr) who clocked his fastest lap in the passenger session. And here I was getting in trouble for going to fast! LOL.

Ferni - they have seen better days! :Bang:

Bepo - that is a great buy! Welcome to the Skyline world. I hope to see you and the new toy around the club in the near future.
-
Haha Aaron - I look forwards to the challenge. Thats if I have some front wheels by then. FYI - I definitely didnt run wide onto the grass. Here's the pictures to prove it! All I can think is that I was running VERY low on fuel - as I came over the top of Lukies I got a big fuel surge that cut the engine and caused me to lose all the electronics. So with my lack of skills I just locked her up!
