hehe - my wife has a Honda Euro. Those cars rule (in what they are supposed to achieve). Mmm... heated seats.

Marcus, Anyone who asks me about buying a GTR - my first advice is that it shouldn't be used as a daily driver as they are prone to issues - especially once they get modified beyond a certain point. Your complaining about only doing 150km's in the last 5 weeks - well thats 150km's more than I've done in mine! But despite the CRAZY amount of $$$ spent I don't regret it because it was bought as a hobby. I think about how much I have spent - but then think about how much more I need to spend to get the car where I want it and it's madness! LOL. The hard part is spending money for upgrades it heaps easier than spending money on fixing something. Thats why where possible I always like to upgrade if something needs fixing. But this can mean not getting to drive the car for long periods of time whilst you save the $$$ required. The first time my car was off the road for ages was the worst. But now I just accept it as being part of driving a mdified GTR that gets used on the track and pushed hard. I appreciate what you say about driving at around town and police attention. I basically never drive my car around town where possible for this reason. But now I've also reached the point where I hate driving it aroud town anyways. No fun in traffic - so I usually like it mainly for a run up the hills or hitting the track. So I guess it depends on if you can learn to live with these off times. To be honest I find when I haven't driven it for ages it's almost like having a new car when I do get back in it. So I guess I've learned to find a positive from the negative! LOL

If you don't get the cooler on in time I hope you at least have a oil temp gauge. If so - be wary once you get to 120deg (which you will!) and slow right down and come off if you get to 130deg! Otherwise - just have some fun and most importantly don't over do it. You will enjoy it heaps more if the body and the engine come home in 1 piece! LOL

I am not sure if you are a member of a car club yet - but to participate in the MSCA day you will need to be a member of one of the 7 (?) affiliated car clubs. As Roy mentioned there are a number of us from here participating at Sandown the following weekend with the WRX Club. Members from any car club are able to attend this event. So since most of us are members of Skylines Australia Victoria we can participate in these events no worries (can't with the MSCA). Here is our link to the Sandown Event on June 12. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=73467 For car prep - Sandown is a place where brakes are used pretty heavy. Big stops into turn 1 and at Dandy corner especially. Otherwise the only other regular suggestion is to look into oil cooling.

Yeah C16 is PULP! Nearly.

For those that don't know the Autosalon Street Car of the Year comp is on this weekend in Sydney and it seems this car will be running head to head with the Ice Supra at both WSID and then at Wakefield amoungst a bunch of other tests. Almost wish I was in Syd to watch it!

Guys, I just also will point out that this will now be the only Club Championship Round at Sandown as the event planned for August 20 has been cancelled.
-
Greg - seriously when I saw you weren't there I thought "Did he REALLY want me to call him to remind him!?" I will next time if you need me to! LOL

Annual Dinner will be on October 1st - to celebrate 1 year of SAU Vic existance. More details to follow but Gentleman Jim is looking forwards to coming down and having a chat with us all. This night really should be the social highlight of the year for SAU. Jeff brought along his 20,000 odd pages of notes, sup reg's etc for Targa Tas, had a short highlights DVD to show and had some great in-car footage of some of the Targa stages. The street circuit sections were great but unfortunately Jeff's driving skills makes it look all too easy. It's made my burning desire to do Targa even worse! So if there's anyone out there that wants to sponsor me to do Targa just drop me a PM! LOL
-
Haha - no worries. Well there will be a large number of us down at Sandown on June 12. Feel free to come up and have a chat if you like. I'm in the Blue 34 - I have a few new tricks up my sleave so we'll see how close I can get to Frank! LOL

All members who came and filled in one of the feed-back forms are greatly thanked. The fact is these clubs are member driven and they key to getting the most out of it is participation. So we will read through all idea's and attempt to offer things you guys want in order to improve our praticipation levels. Thanks again guys.

Got some exciting new to announce tonight as well. But you'll have to come along to hear it.
-
My advice is for anyone wanting to bother coming to this is to be there for the Friday. Friday is the best day for spectating. Saturday is basically just Winton and with 3 cars on at once isn't exciting, and Sunday is back in Melbourne. But the Friday has all the stuff at DECA and at the Shep Airport - which is the coolest stuff to watch.

Clayoth, We (Skylines Australia Victoria) run our club championship in conjunction with the WRX Club of Victoria. The next round of sprints (Round 5) is at Sandown on June 12 - here's a link for these forums to it. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=73467 Other popular clubs to run in Vic with is the Maserati Club Days but they only have 2 events each year and both at Sandown. My best times so far in my GTR are: Sandown - 1.25 Calder - 1.05 Winton - 1.39 Phillip Island - 1.49 Those times can be bettered with GTR's no problems. The Racepace GTR (R33) has done. Sandown - 1.16 Calder - 59s And Frank (R33) who runs with us at the WRX Club Days has done. Sandown - 1.20 Calder - 1.02 Winton - 1.33 Phillip Island - 1.45 See if you can find another street car that has beaten the Racepace GTR times!
-
Congrats guys! Thats fantastic news! Glad to hear everyone is doing great.

I didnt think Autosalon was on until NEXT weekend in Syd!

Joel wants a bed Bec!
-
As I told you mate - PICS OR BAN!!!!! Look forwards to seeing the ones you've got! Meanwhile - here are some teasers I just got sent! General Lee Rarri! SLR Rice! No traffic issues in this puppy. Top Speed could be an issue however!
-
Actually from what I gather they are just paranoid about Phillip Island as there are so many deaths at that track. I guss they figure at the other tracks the biggest risk is you smashing up your car but at PI bad accidents can happen cause of the speeds. They also have no driver training at PI and are suggesting that maybe in the future they won't allow 1st timer track goers onto that track.

Nathan - not sure of his user name yet!
-
Yeah God help the streets of Altona when you get that manual box in that beast. :burnout: You were definitely ear marked as a future member of Team Wang as that exit showed all the attributes of someone who needs to spend some time on a race track! lol
-
Yes there will be passenger laps. And will probably be normal passenger laps too - not the Nazi Phillip Island one.

Ok, Entries for Round 5 of the WRX Club Track Days and SAU Vic Club championship are now available: http://www.wrx.com.au/motorsport/forms/WRX...2Junesupreg.pdf Sandown - SUNDAY June 12 (yep - right in the middle of the long weekend!) $110.00 for Sprints $100.00 for Driver Training I have been advised that Sandown is always the most popular events on the WRX Calander and the events always sell out so I suggest interested parties get their entry forms in early. Be aware also that there has been a change in Motorsports Director at the WRX Club so fax numbers and entry forms etc have changed a little. and see you on the track.
-
Don't get me wrong - if there is the chance to do Wakefield as well as one of the other tracks then I'd be all for it. Chris would as well. The point was more we don't want to drive all that way JUST for that track. Sure it might be fun - but it doesn't seem as challenging as the others simply cause it isn't that long a track. Makes sense? LOL Bit like down here Calder and Winton aren't as challenging as Sandown and Phillip Island. Winton is still a fun track but if on a given weekend I had the choice between Winton and Sandown I'd be going to Sandown. Anyways Duncan - we look forwards to hearing from you!

Listen you Zed driving ex-vice president. We're not driving 800km's+ to do a 45s per lap track. You come to Vic and we take you to Phillip Island and in return you want to take us somewhere more suited for RC Cars than real ones???? Gimme a break. Eastern Creek or Oran Park. Get it sorted for August or Septemeber and we'll come. Wife's due to have a baby in October so will have to be in those months.
