  1. In no way do I doubt other people results, I'm just disappointed at the recommendations(not just about hypergear)I have received considering how things have gone, honestly I think I received a faulty actuator, and I still don't feel that any damage was done by myself, it looks more like the engine was never run in in Japan.
  2. Harey - there is nothing wrong with my install, unless you want to blame me for a ring not holding compression. I will have an engine in and dynod before Christmas if I can. My issues aren't so much with the install just everything after that. I've done turbo conversions before and I knew what to expect, the only problem I had was the afm fitment. I'm just severely doubting the potential, that's where the Garret reputation comes in.
  3. Ahhh why does my car have to be broken, I want to know if it's steal able.
  4. I'm all fairness I have to say that the 3 inch bellmoith dumps that just jap sell are one of the problems with the hypergear install, f**k even putting that dump on the stock turbo is a head ache and a half, and that's if you got one that the bolt holes are in the right place.
  5. Good to know I'm not the only one. The way my install went I think having a known turbo (garret/hks) is worth the extra few dollars, fair enough I am yet to see if the hypergear can actually make any power but before Christmas I will have all the information/dyno sheets to know if stao will be receiving my turbo back.
  6. I want to say it first - Sell your car and buy a turbo car. Not worth the effort changing it over.
  7. Sounds like fun, mine was tuned upto 306hp before one of my rings let go, I'm half way through pulling the engine out. That's gonna be a quick blue bird.
  8. I'm going to get it done at Johnny rabbits. Probably just new bearings, forged pistons and head refresh.
  9. Stao - how do you project the outcome if I was to run my atr43 ss-1 on an rb25/30. Would it make 14psi to redline?
  10. Thanks, doesn't look like a good idea to me now. So rebuild here we go.
  11. Ok strange question, how do you all get around the legal stuff when putting an rb30 in? As far as I'm aware rb30s were not used in the 90s let alone in 2000.
  12. Lol. What mods have you got? Got a power figure?
  13. The only major problem I can foresee is the o2 sensor is hitting the pipe through the firewall that is covered with aluminum wrapping and will eventually tear it open.. Air con related? I am using a jjr 3 inch bellmouth dump.
  14. I think you mis understood, when off the car my wastegate flap jams on the housing. Just curious if it is the same on other turbos. I have talked to stao about it and it doesn't appear to be an issue but yeah just a curiosity thing. Also my turbo measures 23mm longer then the stock turbo.
  15. Siksll, just give up, stao won't admit it doesn't fit properly. I argued with him about it too, can you let me know if your wastegate gets stuck open too? I had the exact same problem, I actually shortened my exhaust to to fit as I couldn't move It back due to the tow bar.
  16. Ok so opinions, block out or just sump off?
  17. What is a leakdown test? All I did was a hot comp test and then put oil in cyl 1 and tested it again.
  18. ok head is off, apart from the sand in the bores that ended up in there when i lifted the head all looks fine so i guess i just have to keep stripping until i find something wrong. i find it amusing the stuff nissan stamp into their parts, like my valves all say 5L
  19. there is 2 bolt holes at the rear of the head but there isn't any bolts in them, i un did the bolt from the power steering pump that was into the head but i cant find any more bolts, does anyone have a picture of the bottom of an rb25 neo head? also there is E T written on my intake cam with paint pen.????
  20. if i cant move it by hand i wont try to lift it. il keep looking around
  21. ok undone all the head studs and given up for the night, i must have missed a bolt but i cant find it, im too tired
  22. The internal tank will stop it having surge issues with the 044
  23. I don't think it's worth worrying about. It just looks dusty. I think the metal may have gone in during the removal. As they are fairly large bits. So far I've got the top half of the plrnnum off and the turbo off and timing cover off, how do I loosen the belt? Is it just springloaded?
  24. not sure if you can see it but here is the best pics i could get. it looks like a mix of dirt and metal filings.
