  1. When I bought my stagea, it had already been in the country about a year and I still found a couple of Japanese CD's behind the seats, few coins and a fuel reciept in the sun visor.
  2. I have a CES Split on my RS4S and I can vouch that the quality of it is great. Only problem I have had with it though is the position of the O2 sensor as mentioned above. Makes it hard to remove one of the nuts from it to remove from turbo but that is fixed by just removing the O2 sensor first. As for power gains I can't comment on that because it came attached to the car.
  3. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/812916...eak-tyre-strike Hope everything turns out OK. Be interesting to know how the tyre came loose.
  4. Nah, not Pearl white. It's a Yellow RS4S Dayz ser2.
  5. Can someone tell me the part number for the Dayz front bar. Would like to see if it's cheaper buying new or getting mine repaired. Anywhere in Australia that makes the Dayz bar?
  6. Unfortunately, found out this morning that when I chucked the u-turn to chase the kids, my left hand wheel when into a small ditch and it turns out I compressed the left side of my front bumper causing it to crease and stuffing the paint. Oh well, lesson learned - run the kids down next time and do the bumper properly.
  7. Yeah the Hiflow was a GCG. I think the premature death was caused by overboosting. When it was on a Dyno it was hitting just short of 15psi and it looks like that's what it was running most of the time so, lesson learned. I wasn't the one to set the boost level, was how it was running when I bought the car so something must have been done before. This standard turbo seems to be hitting the max of 7psi roughly so that's good, hopefully it lasts till I can get more money together. The GCG was 18 months old when it died (Confirmed when I rang GCG with the job number on the plate). Would expect no problems with your unless you give it hell. Was going to look at getting it sent away and get redone but just going to go a aftermarket turbo with a few things changed here and there. On another note- Had the car on the road for less than 24hrs and had 2 little kids about 10yrs old, hiding behind a parked car on the side of the road and when I went passed they sprayed the car and straight in the passenger window with a water pistol. Scared the shit out of me cause it was a big super soaker and it got my wife in the face and sprayed threw to the back getting my 2 year old in the face and waking him up. Should have seen the look on their face when I hit the brakes, chucked the car round and chased them. When it happened, cause I didn't know what the hell happened, I swerved partially onto the other side, lucky for no oncoming cars. Caught one of them when he tried running home. After a mouthful of abuse about how dangerous shit like that is for unsuspecting motorists, the missus told him to go inside and tell his parents what he had done, sure enough off he went crying so don't know what his parents thought.. Oh well.
  8. After the last 3 months of my Stagea being off the road due to a blown turbo and not enough cash, I can happily say that it is now back on the road again. Turbo died on the 1st of January (Great start to the year) and I had only just got re-employed after 2 months of no job so have had no money. It's great to have my Stagea back and be able to drive it again after sitting there looking at it for the last 3 months sitting in the garage going nowhere. Like driving a new car again. Hopefully all goes well and later on down the track (6 months) I can afford to get a whole new turbo setup for it, like I was planning on doing this time. Unfortunately funds didn't permit it at the moment so back to a standard R34 turbo, down from a GCG hi-flow. Car runs good and am very happy to have it back. Just thought I would share my happiness. Dave The Banana is back... :PBJ:
  9. There should be a little (possibly grey) panel next to the actuall indicator/fog light assembly. This should be able to be popped out with the careful help of a screwdriver and in behind that you should find either 2 screws or bolts (Can't remember which one). Just undo them and the should come out from there. Won't need to remove the front bar to do it but, if you ever do want to remove the front bar then you will have to take the indicators out to get to some screws holding the bar in from behind. If this isn't clear enough, I will put pics up tomorrow on how to remove them.

    Ecu Concerns

I asked about that exact same brown plug ages ago when I first got my Stagea thinking it had at sometime had a piggyback ecu but turns out it's normal. Also the wire that you have that is taped up you may find is the speed sensor signal wire. Mine has been spliced into for use with a Turbo timer with speed tests etc. Also had the Handbrake cable spliced into for the Turbo timer so you may find yours has been as well if there was a turbo timer installed at some time.
  11. We have a bit of a different situation here in Hervey Bay, instead of Holden drivers it's underage kids in groups *ucking with people as they drive past on the main road of a weekend evening. They hide down an allyway near the main road with only a few people visible and then chuck things at your car like rocks/bottles and then when you stop, the rest come out from hiding and there ends up 30-40 of them. They used to hang around maccas but got moved on to much, now they hide in a dark alley and cause more damage/trouble. A mate had them throw rocks at his car the other night and when he pulled up to see what their problem was, he suddenly had a whole heap of them come after him. Because there is traffic lights right out front of maccas, they used to run out and push the pedestrian button on that to make cars have to stop and then they would yell at you to do a burnout/drag and if you didn't, they would throw bottles at your car or just come out and kick the shit out of your car. Since they are all juveniles they don't seem do do anything to them and also, now they are in the alleyway, they have plenty of notice of when the cops are coming. One thing that really gives me the shits is people *ucking with other peoples cars for no apparent reason, especially when they are to young to own their own car and know how it feels...
  12. I've been lucky to be on my open licence for few years now, unfortunately my wife only got her P's about 8 months ago meaning she has all the restrictions... YAY. We got our Stagea a couple months before she got her licence (luckily we kept our SSS pulsar for her. I would rather her be driving the Stagea then the SSS but unfortunately she can't LEGALLY. Yes she has driven it a few times on her P's, mostly around the corner store or sometimes if we go to a party and I end up having a few drinks I let her drive. Only suggestion I make is for her not to put the P plates on it and drive sensibly (which she does cause it usually has our 2 year old in it and she is scared of the power) Thing I find funny is that an L plater can learn in any vehicle they want but then they get restricted on there P's... Also, I am guilty of driving around town with P plates still on the SSS. Currently the Stagea is off the road so we are sharing the SSS and I couldn't be bothered taking the plates off for a drive to work or down the street. Funny thing is you can tell people act differently when they see the P plate's. Many a time, I have people pull out in front of me or cut me off and you can see them look over see the plates, and next minute they are abusing me for their mistake. Also the other day, had a P plater come around a corner on the wrong side of the road making me have to come to complete stop. He seen that I was apparently a P plater so him and his freind thought it was funny and laughed about it till I abused them as they went past. Got upset when I returned the hand gesture he gave me out the window and proceeded to chase me.. Makes me laugh, probably at least 10 years older than him. Also have a lot of oldies pull up at lights and THEY want to race, guess they just want another P plater off the road for street racing.. /End rant Dave... (In no way do I condone driving illegally. I know the risks I am taking driving with P plates displayed and am fully prepared to take the consequences without bitching.)
  13. So I take it that if I put R34GTT calipers on then I use the rotors from an R34 as well?? So this would also make it easier to get brakepads and and aftermarket rotors? Thanks Dave.
  14. Would also like to know where I can score a copy of all these manuals.. Anyone have links to them on the web?
  15. I sort of have the same problem, except I allready have my Stagea. Since my turbo died I tried going to the bank to extend my loan amount but now that I am casual not fulltime they wouldn't do it for me. Savings a bitch to since, I was unemployed for 2 months and got to get ourselves back on track with bills. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope you can work something out to get your car.
  16. Possibly lined up another R34 turbo, just got to wait for the turbo to come off the car and see how much money I have at the time as to if I buy that or go new turbo. As for the GCG, looks like the bearings have failed in it. Haven't pulled apart yet but from initiall inspection by a couple of freinds who are mechanics that helped remove it that's where they think the problem is. Turbo had good oil supply from what we can see and I have a turbo timer installed. As for the front mount, don't want to have to cut to much to fit it but am thinking of just going ahead with it anyway since it is there and didn't cost me anything. As for the O2 sensor, got someone that can remove the old seat off and replace just wasn't sure of being able to move to a better position. Not sure if I want to go with the EL falcon O2 or just fork out for an genuine sensor. See how finances go and what my freinds can help me with on that side of things. As for not wanting another GCG unit, don't get me wrong, not saying they are bad or anything. This one came allready on the car and the only thing really putting me off getting this one redone is that they quoted me approx $1600 to rebuild and to me, I could spend that on an aftermarket new turbo. Now I know they are essentially new turbo's when I get it back just can't justify it for myself. Also this one isn't the original turbo off the car so will look around and see if I can get hold of the R34 turbo that I am looking at. Thanks for the quick reply.
  17. OK, so some of you may know that on the first of January (Yes New Years day), my Turbo died. It was a GCG Hi-flow S2 R33 turbo of 18months. Now as I am completely new to turbo cars, I have spent the last 3 weeks searching the internet to just make myself well and truelly confused and bewildered. I have quite a few freinds here to help me but since I work most nights and they work days I don't get a chance to catch up much any more and get there advice. What I need help with is some decisions on turbo's and a few other things to do at this time of it being off the road. Bit of info to help. All I am looking for is daily driver, no big horsepwer, don't have a lot of money to spend, looking at trying to keep it to around $2000 to $2500 max. Don't want another GCG and may be looking at just a second hand turbo to get me by until I can afford something more. The car is a RS4S, RB25NEO has a CES split dump, 3in catback, Catco 4in cat. First question - I have been looking at the garrett turbo's here - http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/hpiab2/category12_1.htm Specifically the GT28RS (fifth one down). Anyone have this turbo on a Stagea? Any suggestions on other options? Also, anyone know of where to pick up cheaper Garretts? Second question - I have a Justjap FMIC that was given to me with the sale of the car, should I look at fitting this now, or save for a more expensive possibly better option? http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...at=0&page=1 Pretty sure it is that kit but the cooler has been modified by the last owner to use the original piping. Third question - I have access to someone locally that does the Nistune chips. He has offered it to me for $450 installed with a street tune. More for dyno tuning. Since I can't afford a PowerFC, is this a good option to do at the same time as the new turbo? Fourth question - what else should I look at doing while I am doing the Turbo and getting it back on the road? I will be changing the spark plugs, draining and filling radiator since I had to drop the water for removing the turbo (Should I do the thermostat at the same time?). Replace O2 sensor due to the other being damaged on removal from dump pipe. (Anyone know where to get a genuine RB25NEO one cheap?) Fifth and last question - Dump pipes. I have a CES split dump pipe. When removing the O2 sensor the thread on both the sensor and the dump was buggered. Now I know I can just get the nut removed from the dump pipe and a new one welded on. Where the sensor screws in, it blocks one of the bolts to where it bolts to the turbo, so I have been looking at what else there is. Has anyone used the JJR bellmouth dump pipes? http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...at=0&page=1 Been looking at this one and not sure if it would be any better/worse then what I have except that the sensor is on the top, easily accessible. All help greatly appreciated. Sorry it's such a long, multi question post. Since it's my first time dealing with having to look at parts for a turbo I am completely lost. Thanks for any help, no matter how small. Dave
  18. And I am hoping these will also suit the RS4S?
  19. Could even be like my RS4S and have two strips that run up either side of the front window as the aerial. I have traced the wires back and it is deffinitely for my aerial, goes to a 2 pin plug into an adapter for aftermarket headunit.
  20. Any chance on getting the part number for the Exedy Clutch when you get it. Just incase I look at doing mine in the future. Thanks Dave
  21. Just got off the phone to GCG. Turns out the turbo isn't off a 34 NEO, it's off a GTST S1 according to the plate on it and was Hi-flowed 18months ago so makes me feel a bit better that it has died. Means that I can now look into a different turbo, not going to get this one rebuilt since it isn't even a 34 one that was meant to be on the car.
  22. Due to being out of work for the last 2 months and only just getting a job this last week, I won't be throwing a whole heap of money at this. In saying that though I will be waying up all options before doing anything so this will be taking at least 3 months at the earliest I would say only for the fact that all my finances were chewed up with having no job. Any suggestions for something that would replace the standard turbo as a straight swap would be good. May also look at an aftermarket manifold since we now have to replace a broken stud. Any suggestions on mods to do while I am at it, within reason, would be great. Thanks for the replies.
  23. Haven't had a full check over the turbo yet. Got it off the car today and looks like the bearings inside have let go and caused the exhaust wheel to rub on the inside of the housing. We managed to get the car home, just made sure that it didn't go above about 2500rpm and took it easy. Had nowhere to leave it up in Bundy and since I can't afford a new turbo for a while, I prefered it be home with me so I can do other things to it while I wait. As for things getting better for the New Year, the very last nut we undid to remove the turbo from the manifold snagged and sheared the stud, so now that need doing as well.. Yay for a happy year. And I will check out the turbo for you Skidkid.
  24. Well, we pulled the Turbo off and it is definitelly the turbo that has shit itself. Looks like the bearing has gone in it and let the exhaust wheel rub on the inside of the housing.. Time to look for a new turbo.. Car has only done 7000 k since I have owned it and have allready done an oil change since getting it. To make things more fun for me, the very last nut that we were taking off to get the turbo removed from the manifold, caught up on the stud and snapped so now that has to come off as well to be repaired. Oh the joy of it all. Well, off to do some research for the new turbo..
  25. Mine was a happy new year... Drove up to Bundy from Hervey Bay for a cruise to check out the night life and my Turbo Shit itself... That was on new years day. If that is anything to guage the coming year by then it's going to be shit...
