I changed to Michelin PS2 ages ago on my R33 & they transformed the car. I just recently ditched the pirellis on my E63 and put new Michelin Super Sports on & noticed a massive improvement to the ride/noise. My R35 Dunlops are stuffed & I didnt know we could get Michelins in the right size! These tyres will be awesome, thanks for the heads up. Gonna order some now..................

In the mean time, while you are all waiting for them to come down.............. You are missing out on DRIVING it. Anything under $110,000 for an R35 is the bargain of the century! And, while I have loved the R34s, they are not even on the same planet as the R35s.

Nah, Im happy with my E63 AMG. Besides, I've got a new metallic black Land Drover Discovery 4 on 20s for towing duties. Martin just tuned it to around 640nm. Seb has pretty much bought the craziest 4WD money can buy....................its going to look sick down Rundle St. Dare you to get some mud on it.

Welcome to the AMG club.........Thats a mean looking machine. That pipe is going to sound good, will have to put a louder one on my 6.2L so I can still hear my engine!

Man, I WISH I could do that regularly with my GTRs. Eastern creek is awesome, I have only driven it in a Radical ( My brother has a new SR8 he was storing at the creek) but to be able to access that track regularly would be awesome. You guys are spoilt! We have NO drag track to use in Adelaide, & our circuit (Mallala) while fun, just cant compare to the creek with that looooooooong straight. I just wish they had fixed up AIR and allowed circuit racing there - then we would be able to do 300! I think this Drag thread will just go round in circles....in the end ..........haha. Oh well. We all just have to make the best of it & have fun where we can!

So basically, nothing has changed and we are still stuck with the old knuckle dragger rules from the 70's! Same story as it was when I was pulling nines in my R33 GTR 10 years ago. If you have a quick R35 - all you really need is exhaust, E85, & a good tune - & you will get 1 run in the high tens and be told to go home. If you want to keep it as a street car (which most of us do) then that will be it. Or just keep it dead stock and run 11s...............that will get boring pretty quick. That parachute rule is just retarded these days. I remember Keir running 8 seconds in his R32 and pulling up by the 1st turn off at AIR on his circuit style brakes! I realise they have to allow for the guy with a blown small block stuffed into his HR holden, but top end modern sports cars with 390mm 6 piston brakes should surely have an exemption from this old rule. I cant wait for AIR to open up with 1/4 mile again. When it does I will take my R33 out (detuned now for circuit) and have some fun as it is already caged/harness etc. But my R35 will be a one run wonder. I better get my new turbos etc on it and make it a good 9 second pass!

It is funny how the original JDMs actually held price better then the Aussie Delivered. I did a great deal on My 08 Gun metallic R35 for only $125,000. Then tuned it, tracked it, did 20000km mainly up in the Adelaide hills with it, then sold it last year for $115,000. I did pretty well with my new 2011 Blue R35, saved over $20000 off new price with only 800kms on it (bought it from Lamborghini Sydney after a baller traded it in on new Superleggera) but after only 6 months it is still worth $20000 less again if I had to sell it today. Which I wont because I totally & absolutley LOVE this car. Even way back in 2002, I bought the first EVO VII in the country ( a bright yellow one with carbon bonnet that was on cover of SPEED) for $74,000. Cained it, raced it (even on dirt once!) did heaps of hills driving - over 10000km, then sold it for $73,000! The next year I bought a Aussie delivered EVO VIII and lost $20000 on it within 18 months when I got bored with it! I suppose, at the end of the day, if you want to PLAY you have to PAY.............

Yes, I second that. The R35 is not the best daily driver ( I drive my E63 AMG during the week more than the R35) but if you are going to track the car regularly then the R35 is easily the best car you can buy for the money. If you can afford it, the new 2011/2012 R35s are smoother as a daily than the 09/10 models. A few back to back test drives will confirm that. A few small mods & they are a devastating weapon on street or track. There are a lot of C63s on the market now so if you trade it on a new 2012 R35 your changeover is not going to be a lot less than just keeping the C63 and buying a used R35 as a second car for trackwork/weekends.
-
Cool, might head down for a look. Hey, why dont we pop it in my Blue one while Sebs not looking...............haha
-
Now that is a cool car. If I didnt already have a track car I would be seriously tempted by this......................... Hope you have a bit of fun with it before it finds a new home.
-
Scandy, I have not even seen it going round this track yet so I am as keen as you! Last time I saw him drive it was at Eastern Creek in the wet. He was learning the car and the track and was doing 260 kmhr down the main straight to turn one! The Radical is one fully sick unit and not many people get the chance to see one in action. My brother is a bit of a sick unit too................... Then again. Death on the road by Iron Maiden rings a bell. ha ha See you all out there. Will be using up a set of old slicks so will be an interesting day for the R33.

Additional $200 paid today by EFT for extra Munro entry. Brother Daniel will bring Radical SR8 out at lunchtime and have a burn. By then half of your cars will be sitting in the pits with brakes smoking, tyres melted, turbos hanging off, or have no fuel left! Well thats what happened last time anyway!!! Radical is so low you wont see it so dont want anyone tripping over him!
-
Yes, I will bring out the R33 and the R35 to this day.............. cant wait - have not been out there for ages........... Cheers, John

2011 R35. Just Willall titanium midpipe and new COBB tune at this stage. Loving this GTR..................

Hello everyone, I am interested in getting some feedback on the Motorhome Vs Caravan debate. There must be a number of reasons why someone who wants to tour around would pick one or the other. If you know someone who owns either a caravan or a motorhome/campervan I would like to hear what their opinions are. Cheers.

Its not "just" the power upgrade that I like about the 2011 model. The interior is nicer, the suspension is smoother, the wheels look awesome, and then there is the new colour. Nothing wrong with the 09/10 models - never will be. Just good to see the little tweaks have made it a better overall car than the previous one.
-
Thats a great article by Clarkson - exept the ugly bit - he obviously didnt get to test a BLUE one! I have to stop taking it to work as I keep wanting to look out onto the street to check it out! I loved my last Gun Metallic R35 but this blue beast just seems to get better and better looking the more I see it. Absolutley brilliant car. The sound of it on downchange with the new pipe is much better now. A mate of mine that runs a prestige dealership took it for a burn with me yesterday and he couldn't believe how quick the transmission is. We were driving the new V10 R8 a few weeks back and he agreed that the Nissan gearbox is light years ahead of the other offerings at the moment. Of course I haven't had the pleasure of driving the 458 yet ( I have sat in one and reved the %^# out of it though!) so I cant comment on Ferraris new box.

We ran the standard GTR on the rollers today - made 313 awkw! Add midpipe and custom COBB tuning - up 15% to 361 awkw. Pretty happy with that! GTR feels amazing to drive now.............. What brilliant machines. Thanks Willalls.
-
And the result is............. the 2011 model made 313 rwkw standard and jumped to 361rwkw with the Willall midpipe and COBB tune. Thats a 15% increase! Car feels amazing to drive now, much more mid range torque, and the power feels more linear. Haven't had time to get up in the hills yet, but from what i have experienced so far - Amazing difference.

Here is picture of it all.............

Yep 2530s are the go. Years ago I went to 2540s and they KILLED the respose and bottom end. I've got -10s now on my 3.2L and they haul ass from right down low but would be a bit lagggy on 2.6L For 350rwkw you should not need to touch the cams or internals at all. Agree on cam gears though. Back in the day we went as high as 396rwkw using the std cams and std internals (of course at that power the std internals did not last long!!!)

Its always great to compare against other nice cars and yesterday I attended an Aston Martin drive day in the Adelaide hills to try out the new Vantage S and V12 Virage models that Aston Martin have just released. Was a very well organised day at a winery and they had mapped out a brilliant 12 kay or so "lap" we could take the cars on. The first one I drove was the new Vantage S. This new model has got slightly more power from the V8 and has their new 7 speed dual clutch gearbox with paddle shift. I could not believe how shocking it was compared the the R35 transmission! It was lurching and fussing around and was really Slooooooow on the changes, my brother was driving another one behind me and he agreed it was terrible compared to the brilliant box in the GTR. The suspension was also much harder than in the GTR which really surprised me adn my overall impression of the car was quite disappointing. I suppose I expected it to be smoother. They did say it was like their "GT3" version, but I think an actual GT3 would bea easier to live with. Did look amazing inside and out though, and open exhaust over 4000rpm sounded great! Next I drove the V12 Rapide which is the 4 door 2+2 model (an answer to the Porsche Panamera) the V12 engine is really smooth and I loved the sound of it under full noise. Felt quite big on the road and not really my cup of tea in the look department. The V12 Virage model really turned me on. The paddle shift automatic put their double clutch gearbox to shame for smoothness and seemed to change faster as well! Very stong in gear torque and the ceramic brakes are mind blowing - totally awesome stopping power. The Virage is placed above the DB9 but under the crazy priced DBS models and I can see them selling a few of these to well heeled types that want class. I loved it. The interior just oozes class and style and you cant fault the shape of this car from any angle. Was a fantastic day and really glad I went (food was great too!) Driving home though the hills I realised what an amazing car the GTR is though, and considering it is not even half the price of an Aston Martin ( and eats them all for breakfast around corners or in a straight line) it goes to show how clever the japs are. GTR truly is a world beater.

I saw my new midpipe today, it weighs almost nothing! Cant wait to get it fitted next week..........
-
I agree. Why are you looking at cam upgrade. You can get over 400kw at wheels out of std engine before looking at cams. If you are going to expense of building tough engine from bottom up then small cams waste of time. I jumped straight to 272 10.2 with first engine then 290 11.7 with next. if you are modifying you cant mess around. Stick with turbos, fuel, etc and leave the cams till you go for it............ I ran 11.10 @127 back in 2002 on the STD engine with bolt on 2540s and bigger injectors. Depends what you want but make sure all parts match. 34 engine will make great power with bolt ons. How fast do you really want to go?
