  1. Spewin..... I never got a carbon fibre manual. Oh well, at least I scored carbon mats!
  2. "No you are right i havn't made an offer however $140k is $20-$25k less than advertised.... If munro bought one cheap it was probably an import, with no warranty and no nisssan servicing etc, they should be $100k. Its crazy to pay $140k plus for any new car with no warranty or servicing support!!! Even a new m3 with 10-15ks on it has depreciated up to $50k...... Thats a much better buy but i realllly like the GTR..." Ah, OK. I will give an opinion on this. Warranty is just not an issue to me. If something brakes then putting exactly the same thing back in is not the answer. I want to make it better. Its funny how Keirs R35 & My R35 which happen to be build numbers 119 & 120 (came off the line in Japan together & now thrash around Mallala together) & are "unwarrantable" & "unserviceable" JDM models, are 2 of the hardest driven GTRs in Australia (notwithstanding you other hard cores & you know who you are!) Neither of these cars have missed a beat or had any serious problems at all. Crazy to pay $140K!!! You should be lucky to get one for that & as far as M3s go they are nice & all but have you driven one hard in the hills then hopped back into an R35? Chalk & cheese. Servicing is easy & much cheaper to do at Willalls then Nissan anyway. As soon as I put the mid pipe & COBB tune on my GTR & hit 120 degrees trans temp around Mallala, then proceeded to check out how much fun the launch control feature is then my "Aussie delivered warranty" would have gone up in smoke anyway. And I would have paid another $30000 or so for the priviledge(& also scored that great res pacman screen!) The other great thing about R35s is the parts becoming available for them. I went for a good hard run in slip35's silver beast the other night (the one with the new carbon seats fitted) That is one awesome GTR. Think he may have voided his warranty by now......... oh well, such a shame. I agree that some of these cars have been sitting around on the market for too long & should be ripe for low offers. Get out there & get them on the streets & racetracks. Thats where they want to be............
  3. BTW. Nengun are now asking for more money to send it back!
  4. Anyone had problems with Nengun? I ordered parts & paid for them start November. When queried where the parts were they said was sent to my address but no-one there to accept delivery & was sent back to Japan! We run a 7 day a week business & get deliveries every day so I am not accepting this story. Just curious to know if this has happened to anyone else?
  5. spotted a silver R35 GTR at Double bay last night.
  6. Just to be thorough, I went & had a look at a V10 R8 today which had a few options on it (Carbon pack, titanium wheels etc) & they are one sexy car. This one is Black with 280km on it & is going for $380k +ORC! Absolutely gorgeous car. Makes the R35 look like a bargain, but if I had the money I know which car i would rather be rolling around in.......... 0000 (they are rings - not tail lights!)
  7. BTW, I was assuming you were talking about the new V10 R8. I dont think you could compare the old V8 model R8 to a new R35 GTR. I have not driven one, but from the specs it would not appear to be in the same league. I have driven the new Audi S5 which has the same engine (slightly detuned) & it was a very nice car. Just not an animal like the R35.
  8. I think it is wise to buy the best/latest car that you can afford at the time. Dont make a decision about R35 without driving one with midpipe/tune. They sound & feel SO much better. I doubt I would put up with my R35 as a daily driver but when I do take it for a fang it is just awesome. When you get used to "cruiser" cars then jump in the R35 it does seem a bit brutal. All the above advice is pretty good. If you are an adventurous hills driver & love a good track day then putting up with its hard ride etc is worth it. You wont buy a better car for the money. If you seriously have the money for a new R8, I would still buy the R35 as your "sports" car & spend the "change" on a really nice luxury family cruiser like a new AMG C63 or Audi S5 or BMW 550i etc. If you just want to scare the living s*&t out of yourself & anyone game to jump in the car with you then buy Willalls RH9 R32 GTR. That thing has the biggest, hairiest balls on the streets & it you can tame it you are one sick unit. Might have to keep the kids out of it though - they might get brain damage from the acceleration! Keir has owned that R32 from new since 1991 & it is probably one of the best developed GTRs in the world. I will be surprised if he actually lets it go..........
  9. I think Martin picked up some extra power with their exhaust fitted so that will be a bonus for you too.
  10. I was pretty happy with the 333 awkw run from my R35. However, I was a bit disappointed with the 249 rwkw from my E63. I was expecting around 270 considering they are supposed to be 368kw at flywheel. When Kiers CLS63 made 297 I was devo. Time to pull out the laptop Martin & give me some of that tuning goodness. The Lambo hasnt been out to the track for a while, how did Keir go with that & did you run the EvoX? Cheers & have a good one.
  11. And special thanks to my wife for staying with the kids so I could go!
  12. Yep, thanks for the invite. Was great to hang with so many Skyline enthusiasts.
  13. Nightcrawler took some good shots yesterday.
  14. Awesome result, well done guys. I normally come to these track days, wish I didn't miss this one! The new TE37s look killer on the white GTR.
  15. I have been tempted a few times to suggest the R35 discussion forum be changed to the "R35 OWNERS discussion forum" but I suppose after all this is the "internerd" & we cant discriminate. I agree with the above posts. Have a look around on the forum & show some respect before posting in this section. It is a great forum. I have been on here for over 7 years. Lets use it properly.
  16. Hey Duncan, are you still driving the GTR as your daily vehicle as well? Or has it been relegated to "toy" for occasional street use & mainly track work? I have been down this path years ago with more than one of my cars & once you get past the "I'll just pull out the other seats & put them back later" stage it is unlikely that car will see much more regular street duty. Been there, done that. My opinion is that you are doing so well as it is, continuing to strip the car will defeat the purpose of what these R35 GTRs are supposed to be in the first place. You may find that pulling further weight out of the car doesnt make it that much faster anyway. One thing is for sure. If you keep going, you will destroy it as a street car. Then you may as well just build up a full race car weighing under 1300 kg & join the ranks of trailer sailors. I have a purpose built R33 GTR race car (that is only slightly faster than my full weight R35 so far!!!) but at 1300kg it is much more fun to fling around than the R35. You could keep going & be a pioneer but my 2c is cool it for a while, enjoy it as it is & see how you feel about it "down the track". I love what you are doing, & wish I had the time to do the same thing. Not trying to stop you. Just know that I have destroyed some very nice street cars over the years & in hindsight I wished I hadn't. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
  17. That would be awesome. Have a great time.
  18. I have the new Willall COBB tune as well & it is great. I tracked my R35 today (while I was waiting for my R33 to cool) & am still finding the standard pads working well (I only do 4-5 flying laps a time) although I am sure it is just a matter of time till I will need to upgrade them. I am getting used to a new set of 360mm 6 spot Alcons on the R33 & was amazed how good the R35 pulls up compared to that. R35 are amazing cars. Drove it out there. Never touched a thing. Has 11000km std Bridgestones. Am only .8 second behind my race car!!! ( so far - race GTR has lots of sorting)
  19. This current build is by James from Nisspeed. He has done an awesome job. This car has been through a lot of different setups, but I am very happy to be getting some use out of it now with this new "detuned" engine. For those of you that dont know the background of this GTR have a look at an old thread named "History of a 9 second GTR" I have had this R33 since April 2000. Last time I took it out (at the GSR/EVO time attack earlier this month) I got it down to 1:16.4 Today, after turning the boost down(!) we did a 1:15.0 The R35 wasnt too far behind with a 1:16.2 (not my best - has done 15.8) but std tyres starting to let it down a bit.
  20. I think I left 2 tyre pressure gauges on the beam in the RH garage, if anyone saw them please let me know. Yep, was a good day. enjoyed it very much. Would of liked to stay longer but did manage to get 3 sessions in with both the R33 & the R35 so happy with that. Think I melted the tyres off the R35 - they are looking quite second hand now! Having coolant issues with the race car but other than that was running well. It was good to get it out there & get some practice in with the new set up. Will have to get some vents organised because it is like a sauna in there with out any air flow. Thanks for making it happen Adrian, well done. Lets do it again sometime soon.
  21. Getting some use out of it now........
  22. No, I am happy to drag it again if AIR opens up. Too much time/hassle to race interstate so will just stick to circuit & have some fun till then. Did 1 min 16.4 on our first outing to Mallala but had fuel pressure issues with pump that was designed for drag so had to trailer it. I suppose a new set up always takes time to sort out & I am going to have great fun trying to tame this GTR on the track.
  23. everybody was kung fu fighting.... ding a ning ning ning. Anyway..... how easy is it to get these 2nd hand slicks & why are they getting rid of them. I thought it was more about heat cycles rather than tread wear. If you have noticed a big improvement using them they must still have good life in them! What pressure do you run them at? Once you get get used to them & they are stuffed will you try a new set & see if your times drop even more?
  24. I bought these RE30s from Access Auto last year for my Race R33 GTR. They are 18x9.5 +15 and are very light but also very strong. ( I had a set of 18x9.5 +12 Nismo LM1 GT4s on my street GTR but thought these suited the race car better) I would love to put slicks on these & use them on my R35 as well but from what you are saying they will stick way out on the front. Years ago I ordered a set of 18" CE28Ns for my XR6 Turbo ute. The rears are 9.5" +22 so I could get some more rubber under the back but the fronts had to be 8.5" +40. So cant use these for the GTR either!!! I think what you doing is the only way - your standard 20s for the street & a dedicated set of 18"s with slicks for the track. Just a shame for me they cant be interchangeable with the R33 GTR. Oh well, I will just keep trashing my 20" Bridgestones for now....... Good luck with yours - keep us posted.
