  1. Hey, there's a unites at strathpine road, you'd have been fine ants!
  2. Andy, but for those figures surely RB has front diff and pair of turbos and VQ does not? Edit: I was actually thinking... VQ35+electric motor out of Infiniti Q70 hybrid... plus turbos, but it really doesn't seem like the motor would be suited, not big enough.
  3. Does anyone know the weight difference between the RB26 and VQ35, like for like (eg in the same state, not RB with all bits and VQ bare block)? I had an interesting idea today...
  4. Mmm, nap could be good. Will have one Wednesday I think, i'm always wrecked Wednesday nights after traveling home
  5. Everyone still alive?
  6. True, true. I think I just needed to take a holiday or two this year to make me less loopy. zero days off (outside of roster) Christmas to Christmas
  7. Work tommorow yaaay!
  8. Sounds like a fun night out
  9. Friggin roster. That is all.
  10. There's one that's been selling E85 in Ipswich in QLD for over 3 months that still isn't on that list, so i'm sure that there may be others in other states that aren't on there but do sell it? Would be good to have one somewhere between Syd and melb for example. For reference this is a map I made from the united list in June
  11. Another month till I need to pay mine, though I might pay it next week so I don't forget. There goes this months car monies though
  12. How on earth was it scratched like that?
  13. Anyone got a full map of all the United servos, if they are supposedly not all on their website? would he handy for people from further afield to plan trips. Anyway, picked up a massive amount of midrange going from 98 to E85 (united) for me.
  14. I'd be interested knowing how many people making big hp on a single use WG on the manifold vs WG on turbo housing. Particularly how it results to boost control/spool times/spool response etc.
  15. I've got a picture of them on mu phone, didnt know they were yours though
  16. Yeah that's the method I was thinking of.
  17. You can spoof the signal on 32s pretty easily, read about it last week.
  18. Build thread updated. Such suspensions. Many wows. Much costs.
  19. The gas industry is... interesting right now. Construction has peaked on the QGC project for sure, but its not a solid drop off, ok we're done everyone all 15000 of you go home kind of thing. Then you've got the other big players, Origin, Santos and arrow. I'm not 100% sure where they are at, though i've heard that Origin at least still have a fair bit of work to do for the next few years. Then there's always the option of work over in WA or up in Darwin on the LNG plants there. More medium term though i'm not sure about though. As all the work is sub contracted and sub sub contracted out etc there's always a lot of moving and shaking with the individual companies doing the actual work, which can be a good or bad thing depending if you're working for one that gets shafted or looking for a job and one gets hired and told to put on a dozen new people etc.
  20. There will be more work, eventually, probably plus i'm sure a lot of the folks are on 457's and will probably be kicked out soon once the job ends, so less competition for the next one... You'd really have to want to work out here though to start onto it now. Depends what you think your prospects are doing what you're already doing (I have NFI what sort of money normal sparkies are on in the city), might not be worth the risk if you're doing alright in here, particularly considering that the gov is pushing to have more houses built as the next construction boom to take over form the mining boom, you might already be in the right spot to take advantage of that (start your own company?)
  21. Edit; double post, dammit.
  22. Its an interesting life for sure. Also, unfortunately, the work is starting to wrap up on this project at least, so there's no guarantee even if you do do the courses i'm afraid, pretty much every industry is like that now though. But yeah (for the tradies), 10 hour days, work 20 days straight, travel, 6 days off, travel, work 20 days straight, repeat. Stay in camps literally in the middle of nowhere, but at least the rooms are decent, food is buffet, gym on site and the like. But yeah it gets lonely, you do get days off during the week to make up for it but most people are working on those days, which is good for going on drives or getting stuff done but not for keeping in touch with folks really. Honestly don't know how people with kids do it, but the financial rewards must be a good part of it.
  23. I was in the same dilemma, though i wasn't as far along with my old car at that stage. In the end though I figured everything i was doing I would just have to do again, so i traded up. Buy this one? link
