  1. Well, the rules are QLD only (why the hell don't we have a national transportation department anyway...) so it'd be Bligh, not Gillard. But yeah, apparently the only 2 vehicles effected by the change from 200 to 210kw is the SV6 commodore and some lotus. Seems pretty likely that it was "help us sell more cars"
  2. To be honest unless the government makes an advanced driver course mandatory for getting your P's the restrictions should be in. I went through them, and probably wouldn't have respected my car enough if i hadn't. On the other they recently changed the laws so that the 210kw SV6 commodores are legal for P platers here. They're really to fast of a car i think.
  3. Its nothing to do with the purchase price of the car, everything to do with P plate restrictions on high power vehicle. you don't need to be rich to buy a car that's a high powered vehicle either, so why is he special?
  4. 4th march Yamanto Maccas map 9:30 for 9:45 departure. This will be the second of 4 major cruises this year. After the great cruise we had West to Queen Mary falls, this time we will be heading South, into northern NSW. We'll depart Yamanto and head south through Boonah and on via some nice backroads to Rathdowny. From there we will take the wonderful (part of) the Mt Lindesay Highway over the bell bird ranges into northern NSW, and then short trip down Summerland way to Kyogle for lunch by about midday Queensland time. After lunch There are a number of great roads that can driven to return to Brisbane, its about a 2.5-3 hour drive back to the Brisbane CBD. This is a bit of a longer cruise, however I hope that some people will enjoy that kind of thing
  5. Because your on P plates. Fact is it takes time to get everything working right, might as well go about it all while on your p's because you've got nothing else you can do, then when you get your opens your car's ready to handle the extra power of an engine upgrade, if that's what you're after
  6. Yeah. I was speaking to a guy who went and did it a few years ago, all i remember him mentioning is that there was way to much mud.
  7. Pretty cheap to get in standing. Just hope like hell it doesn't rain.
  8. Option. .. f? Spend money on R33, but not on the engine. Coilovers, swaybars, brakes (5 stud conversion?) The works suspension wise. Build a RB30/25DET. Drop in in October 2013. Also, i'm intrigued by how you'll get an expemption. A work exemption if you work at a mechanics won't let you daily drive a turbo 180sx around.
  9. It'd look better if they were polished metal, black doesn't suit it. And its not about making it ugly either..
  10. I'm feeling about the same, except i have the luxury of having some uni work i can do on the holidays. woo!
  11. The law says he can drive it while going to and from anything related to the exmeption. Its not open slather to drive the car anywhere anytime. Being that it was Australia day and all... i'm not sure he'd have had anything work related to go to. Point out to me one person (from QLD if you can) who has an exemption to drive a performence turbo car of any brand (or non turbo) as a daily drive. In Queensland, of the 100000or so people who have got their licence under the new power restrictions, the number of expemtions given is under 1000. The vast majority of those would probably be for mechanics, and they'd only be able to drive the restricted vehicles during work hours doing work related activities. Its not about "oh some rich person has money and bought an expensive car, i wish i could have had one when i was 19". Fact is when i was 18 I could have affored a restricted car, but because i couldn't drive one due ot the laws i, you know, just sucked it up and went and bought a non restricted car. Same should probably have applied here. I cannot think of a single reason why he couldn't have got the non turbo/v8 3 series bmw..
  12. So the people in the ACA video who were randomlly pulled over in the raod block after driving upto it at the speed limit were targetted because of how they drive?
  13. The bugger has got an exemption for no reason, its a load of crap. Deserves everything he gets, considering the fact that he was probably violating the terms of his exemption anyway.
  14. BQQ food: cooked. Pool: in. Diagnosis: win
  15. Followed a silver r32 4door along mt gravat capalbar road yesterday
  16. Creek infront of our place is about as high as i've seen it. And there's more rain coming. (not to worry though, would need about 300mm in the entire catchment above it in an hour to get it up to our house) edit: went for a walk for a few km down the creek. Down stream there's water flowing out of the sewer main manholes. Not cool. it can stop raining now before it backs up up here...
  17. Like i said elsewhere, as a lazy uni student i was looking forward to a month of wonderful weekday driving, but now the roads are going to be shot again for another year. Dissapointed in you mr mother nature,
  18. Just as the roads were getting smooth(er) again and everyone is back at school too
