This is right. What I really want is a 4 Door R33 GTR, but they would be over $75k landed and complied. I need 4 doors for work and the wagon will come in handy. If I wanted to drop a RB26 into anything it would be a R34 4door, but I do not have this ability as I need a daily driver. I want a car that is low profile. I do not like show...only go. I would not be happy in a RD FOUR, I have wanted a GTR for many years, but due to work and the fact I have trouble getting into/out of a GTR is difficult (im 6'5" and solid) The 260RS in OZ will always be a rare car, where RS FOURS/r33/r34's are all now more available. Rezz: I will appreciate any info. The model I am getting is the R34 1999 update model, the one with the lights in the grille are the older series. The type of things I would like to know is: What parts are interchangable witha GTR ? I know it has the same drive line but what about suspension, diffs (are they LSD) , ECU (I want a Power FC to suite) I also want to replace the dash with a 300+kmh speedo, but this is something I cannot find. All I can say is NOTHING beats the real McCoy :-) Ta Mal

Hi, I am abouts to purchase a 1999 Stagea 260RS Autech. I have tried to find info on them, but being a jap spec only, all the sites bar a few are in japanease. The other thing I have found is that there is also very little known about these cars. I find there are 2 versions of specs that about 100 sites use, but nothing official or correct. I would like to ask everyone here, if they have any info printed or web based that I can compile into a english site for these rare cars. Thanks Mal

you guys should visit http://www.roadsense.com.au/ as it has a lot of info. If you can get enough people together you WILL change policy's. The governments are motivated by 2 main things. 1. Spending money they do not care about (ours) 2. What people think about them when they are dragged out on a saturday to vote the next useless prick in.

I do not know why people think this 15 year rule is good. yes you can get some unusual cars and some really hot cars, but most have little or no service for 2 years and only get done shen shekken (sic?) is needed, and I am sure there are dodgy places over there like there is here......The japs must think we are stupid.....most of the cars that will come here will cost less than the shipping.....we are getting trash, they should limit the numbers or it WILL kill our local 2nd hand market. This is why you can get skylines r33's in nz for under $8k. All your cars will be harder to sell because the insurance and easy availability will reduce their market appeal. before skylines were rare, gtr's even more so, but now they are everywhere. I hope the gov realises how dumb this idea was and close it down. ta mal

Rb26.....wait for a complete ems or a bitsa
GTR R35 replied to GTR R35's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the suggestion. I have been reading about the pro's and con's on different ECU piggybacks or replacements. It does look like the Power FC is the go as it is easy to install, tune and run. It also does a lot for the money. Guess it will not take very long to save up then as I was looking at about $6k+ for the motec when the power fc is under $2k Thanks Mal -
i think the 15 year rule is dumb...even NZ have tightend up their rules.....and we just allowed them. I have a 88 VR4 Galant that had 54k on the clock. The interior looks like it is about that milage, but the car looks like it has been auto washed 100,000 times. The compliance is a joke. the intrusion bars are badley welded and the fuel filler is not ulp. I bought this car for $9k as a thrasher for 6 months and i have seen several 15 year cars.....they should not be here. it has killed the second hand market and they are dangerous. sorry for the rant Mal

Rb26.....wait for a complete ems or a bitsa
GTR R35 replied to GTR R35's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
This car is a gtr33 vspec for driveline and brakes. its hard to find out alot about them. i plan on doing a website in engrish. i see it on 4/2, i will post pics. Does the power fc do it all ? ebc, efi, afm, speedlimiter, timing, knock, egt. I want to slowly build this car for targa type events and club days...its also my daily drive. -
hi, I would like to ask something I have not found an answer for. If you had a gtr(stock 260rs), and wanted to have control over the engine management, would you save up and get a motec that will do everything or just add the different bits and pieces ? I understand that alot of members here have bought their rides with hks this and apexi that, but i have a clean sheet (stock) and would rather have full intergration. If there is a special em system that is designed for the gtr33, please let me know, so i know what i have to save. I will enjoy the stock power for a while, but it is nice to play :headspin: ta mal

I Smashed My Gtr Real Bad.
GTR R35 replied to MINES_DATSUN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
11 years ago a mate was given a turbo porsche....he wrapped it around a telegraph pole killing his girlfriend. He was DUI and had no insurance. This totally wreaked a large amount of people as their lives were changed. The parents blamed themselves for getting the car. MINES, it would have been a completly different story if there were 6 drunk teens at the bus stop waiting for a bus when you came around that corner.....it would be a bad headline, 20yo in GTR kills 6 while speeding.......you must consider every result before you take risks. I am glad no one was hurt, by the looks of the wreck, one foot further foward and that big dent is where your head would be. Live and learn......this is why we are being hasseled by the cops and our insurance is through the roof, I will not flame you for what you did as you will already feel like S..t -
Gearbox jumps when clutching in
GTR R35 replied to shoey_R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
sounds like a broken mount or possible backlash through the drivetrain. Easy way to check is pull your hadbrake on, put in gear and see if anything goes thump. my bet is a engine mount. Mal -
while they were on duty they were not responding to a call......:-)

a couple of my staff are RFB and are licensed for emergency drving in firetrucks. Apparently all emergency vehicles are breaking the law if they do anything wrong, lights and sirens or not. It is just accepted they need to for their jobs. They said that they (RFB) are not allowed to go over 30 km or they will be busted by cops apperently....they have also been RBT'ed in firetrucks....go figure....i wonder if an onduty hwy has ever been pulled over. Apparently the hwy have their own rules....they also make a few up as they go.

I had a cop do atleast 100 in a 60 zone at archer street, chatswood. I was doing the speed limit and he ran a red light and belted up behind me. We stopped right outside the chatswood copshop. He asked for my license would not talk to me and wrote me a ticket for having "foglights on". It was wet and dark, and my manual for a oz 91 VR4 said clearly they were driving lights. I argued with him for 30 mins and he was calling me fen this and fen that and claiming he was x hwy cop....i could tell. Anyway I took it to court and the fat a..hole was there and copped a assraping from the magistrate, as i told them about the manner in which he drove and treated me. I won because he wrote foglights and they were listed as driving lights. Mal

I agree that in a smaller area you tend to get long term cops, but I think the country cops are the best, they understand and are generally fair. Not in Sydney. 10/10 highway cops have an attitude, they are not much liked by the other branches, where the general duties and detectives are better.... You do not have options, you just think before you speak. Do not forget that this is evidence and you can also use it. I am sure they would give you a copy if it went to court as the cops must produce all their evidence to you before court, might be worth getting booked to get a video of my car being booked :-) Mal

I have seen a tool that you point on any surface and it tells you the temp. The are used in aircon places, you could prob get the use of one. Just a thought. mal

guys, I did a fuel cooler on a KE25 strolla racecar to solve a problem,. The car had a 1.8 turbo off a jap sillycar. the fuel kept vaporising due to heatsoak. the frontcut i got the driveline out had AIRCON. I got some fuel line and ran it paralell with the input of the aircon just b4 it hit the cabin. I wrapped heaps of insulation and it worked very well....almost to well as sometimes there would be ice on the rail after the cooler. I cant say I have had a close look at a skylines fuel and aircon systems, but it is possible. I also ran the cabin cooler in the glovebox and kept my water cool. to find the right pipe just run your aircon and its the only cold pipe under the bonnet. I also recommend the whole system on the cold side be insulated with double foilback insulation. Just thought you might like another way. Mal
