  1. Lovely shot of the kids 'handbrake' , they're beautiful mate! ..and yes this very point is lost amongst many people out there talking up other performance/supercars Corvette Zr-1, 911 Gt2, Lambo Gallardo LP560 etc and appreciated by family men (like us) with young kids 09GT-R, what an insane time, well done! (2.9sec 0-100 km/h) what an interesting youtube vid that would make!, that's just not hypercar fast...that is superbike quick! What sort of 1/4 mile time does that translate to? Also does the car look stock from the outside?, for me that would be the ultimate, a stock standard looking car that accelerates like a superbike, with all the mod cons and even a baby seat!
  2. 0-100 km/h times for both cars are a bit on the tardy side, but as expected 0-200 km/h ZR-1 has a clear advantage. It shoould be no suprise that they recorded the same lap time since the best times both have acheived are almost identical (7.26's). This should prove to many of the GT-R knockers that the GT-R is what Nissan claim it to be. There is no shortage of Amercian car journo's and Corvette fans who claim the GT-R is a fake. This test proves it runs with their ZR-1. Also proves to Porsche that it's quicker than the 7.54min time they achieved. 7.38min is very quick but the factory drivers must be special to find the 12 seconds! Still it proves thru most performance parameters the GT-R and Zr-1 are about the same. At the end of the day GT-R has 4 seats, a decent boot and AWD to get you home safely in wet and damp conditions, it costs less, has a better interior and for me a better exterior. The Vette sounds glorious tho and is more low slung beast.
  3. Very nice birds...but that actually brings to mind another question. What would you do for $400,000 asking price of a ZR-1??.....I'd get the red GT-R and with the $230,000 change (!).. buy the magnificent new Infiniti M56 sedan (when it finally comes out)..that's a 5.6 litre V8 with around 300kW ...and $100,000 deposit on a beach house in Sorrento!
  4. what a shame!!, current Liberty is and has been a beautiful looking car, the newbie looks like a bloated Holden Epicrap
  5. jpgtr, interesting stuff..what is even more interesting is that you not only own that MAGNIFICENT black GT-R but a 996 911 Turbo as well??- yee hah! These for me are about the 2 best sports/supercars one can own...how do they compare with one another in terms of performance, drivability, reliability and desirability???
  6. Ooooh nice, Scathing, very nice indeed!... DLOOK $3-4K is VERY CHEAP!, ...but you get what you pay for & it might be a bit rough for that money, be nice to find something that's been wrapped in cotton wool for a few years. If you have to pay $10-13K and it's an absolute plum it would probably be worth it. Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.
  7. Thanks Scathing much appreciated, so the Nissan Cima is the JDM equivelant? That would be 4.5 litre V8 as well? If so, sounds good. To be honest it would be great to locate a local delivered car, driven by some old guy who wrapped it in cotton wool and can't drive it anymore, but its good to know there is a grey import equivelant! Obviously the $13K related to mid 90's Q45, I'd expect a current Cima/Q45 to cost much more!!
  8. Hi all, the other day in a doctors waiting room I saw he had a pile of 'High Performance Imports' magazine. I picked up a copy and had a squizz. They had an article on a pristine Infiniti Q45 (as well as a 4.0l V8 Toyota Crown import). Does anyone know how many of these Q45's are around? Can the model sold here be bought as a grey import? Anyone know about maintenance, reliability? The article I read was from about 4 years ago and they talked about a price of $13,000 on the road! I have two A33 Maxima's and I would be interested in looking at one of these Infinitis as a daily driver..(but only does 10,000 kms per year). For a while I had decided my next purchase was going to be an older but hopefully a low km & immacualte Lexus LS or GS (they do come up and they are fairly cheap too), but I reckon this Q45 has a bit more character (even that quirky front nose!) and a superior engine (4.5l V8 with 207-220kw- depending on who you talk to!). There are even a few guys on youtube who have shown what beautiful noise you can get with some exghaust modifications. Also I'd prefer a Nissan based product to a Toyota. If anyone knows more about these cars and could share their knowledge it would be much appreciated
  9. Looks like a prop for the next Fast and the Furious flick, no thanks! ...credit tho for the artistic talent and imagination. Stock R35 is sn incredibly horn looking piece of kit, anymore plastic or graphics just ruins it for me.
  10. Looks like it will be staggeringly fast! The standard car can bend the space time continueum, these modified versions must be simply obscene!! I also have no problem with Willall Racing giving an insight into the LOCAL modeified R35 scene. Most of the time we see a video, its some crazy Yank, Russian or Arab, very interesting to see that type of GT-R is being produced locally, i don't think they are taking advantage of this site.
  11. Hi LSX-438 below is a link for a 'blue meanie' for sale at Australian muscle car sales, it is by far the most expensive example I've seen for $88,000 ONO. Most I have seen have been between $60-75K mark. there is also a silver VK SS Brock (not group A) for sale for $37,500 (it's on carsales). As I said, strong, but it's not CRAZY money that various early 70's Falcon GT, Holden Monaros and Valiant R/T Chargers have been fetching...and for me the Brocky's have to be the most collectable Commodores from an investor point of view. Those VK SS Group A's were very similar to the cars that raced at Bathurst and ATCC. The W427 or HSV GTS shares very little to the V8 Supercars that race. Then of course there is the legendary connection of Peter Brock who raced and built these cars. If these cars were going to skyrocket it would be after he passed away and they haven't really. http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/mus...p-commodore-200 Here's another interesting one a Phase 3 GTHO, asking $400,000 ONO. Still crazy money, but that's ALOT less then a couple of years ago when $500K plus was the norm and up to $750K http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/mus...-xy-gtho-falcon
  12. For me, if the HDT Brocks from the 80's haven't appreciated crazily after 20 years, I can't see how a current HSV model will somehow replicate what the GTHO has done.
  13. My cousin has a 2008 Lexus RX350 (last of previous gen) and that leather is every bit as good as any car I have ever seen. My former boss has a Lexus GS460 and same thing (current LS's are impeccable too), actually any Lexus from late 90's onwards is very good. The grey import Lexus Sc400's/soarers from the early 90's are very average indeed, agree with that. If you check out BM's and Mercs between 5-10 years old, the leather doesn't stand up any better than a Lexus IMO, although I reckon Porsches look very good years after. If you have seen a lower end BMW or Merc with good looking leather, most likely it isn't leather at all!, Mercedes Artico 'man made leather' is actually vinyl and this vinyl is used is a few models that often exceed the $100K mark. The 320i also has a pleather/cloth combination as std. Pleather/Vinyl/Artico doesn't feel great, but holds up better than real leather in the long run. My suprise with that FPV F6E is that it is a press image...you'd think they'd use a car in better condition that that!
  14. How's this for leather quality? The brand spanking new FPV F6 E. Brilliant performing car I'm sure but what a shocking image of the leather for the front seat. This car is a smidge under $80,000 before on-road costs which puts it into the mid 80'K's. There is just no getting around the humble Falcon roots...
  15. Hey Barcode, small world!. Suffice to say that when my subscription renewel letter for TGA magazine arrived in my letter box a couple of weeks back ...it went stright into the re-cycle BIN....like the Automotive equivelant of 'Picture Magazine'
  16. Hmmm, that's a big comment to make, technology has come further in the past 20 years than in the last 100 years and to gain a 10% advantage over your rivals in 2009 is significantly harder than it was 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong the R32 is a brilliant machine and was a huge step forward for it's time, but the R & D and engineering refinement that went into the R35 cannot be under estimated. The fact that this 1740KG coupe can equal or even better the very best that Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini have to offer is an amazing achievement (esp when you consider how far these cars have come too!). GT-R's transmission and AWD system has managed to maintain the gap and that's not easily done. I'd also say that $110K for an R32 GT-R in 1991 is alot more than $155,800 (initially $148,800) is in 2009, I would say that's another achievement when you realize that build quality also rivals much more expensive competitors. Forgot to mention the Motor test in 2008 R35 vs R34 vs R33 vs R32, the R35 absolutely obliterated the previous gen R34. On the tight track they tested on it was about 3 secs faster! (6 secs faster than the R32 GT-R!) If that isn't monumental step forward I don't know what is!!!!
  17. A cheaper, slower R35 'GT-T' sounds good in theory, but it will only serve to dilute and devalue the R35 GT-R . At the moment it is a bespoke Supercar and it should stay that way. I ask what is wrong with the magnificent Skyline 370GT/Infiniti G37? 3.7ltr 246kW sounds good to me, they still look great but different enough so as to not be mistaken for a 'cheap ' GT-R. Nissan/Infiniti are on a REALLY good wicket at the moment, they should keep it that way.
  18. Monsuta, they are great looking rims, they could pass as a factory wheel. Also like the black wheels on 'Handbrake's' grey R35 they look great too.
  19. Seen a few after market rims for R35, some nice, some not so nice, all I will say on the topic is that the Original factory rims look best and IMO are the best looking stock std factory rim on ANY production car at the moment. I can understand people want something different, but gee I reckon Nissan REALLY nailed the formula with the look of standard alloy.
  20. It would be interesting to compare fuel consumption with GT-R's supercar competitors, ie Gallardo LP560-4, Murcielago LP640, Porsche 911 GT2, 911 Turbo, Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari F430, 599GTB etc. In that company it may not be that bad at all! In city traffic my mate was averaging 16l/100km in his VZ Clubsport, so 17l/100km around town is high, but not sooo bad for a sub 4 second 0-100km/h 300km/h+ AWD supercar.
  21. HEKTIK, I've seen a grey R35, on the Greensborough Hwy, in Greensborough. Some friends have seen the same car on Plenty Rd (Bundoora, Reservoir area). So it is possible that this lives anywhere between South Morang, Eltham, Macleod, Rosanna and Heidleberg.... ...then again it could all be a big coincidence!
  22. We shouldn't have LCT full stop! It's an old school regressive Labor tax from the dark ages, that said, whilst the Libs lowered it, they should have done more to get it abolished. If people weren't paying an extra $30K in taxes on their new motor car I'm sure that money be pumped into other areas of the economy which could also stimulate growth.
  23. It's actually more like $400,000 once coverted to RHD! The Z06's are available for about $220K ZR-1 is a beast of a car no doubt about that, I still prefer GT-R which ran a damn near identical 7.26.7sec at the Nubrugring (0.3 sec slower), and I get 4 seats so I can take my kids, a decent boot so we can go on a day trip somewhere (or overnight) and a much more upmarket interior/build quality...and yes I can take it out in the rain!...and its cheaper...and dare I say it arguably looks better too.
