  1. why choose ladder over the cross? triangles are stronger than squares. I know the yanks love the ladder for oval, but wrc cars run a cross. But a wrc car is designed to run into trees (force spread out over tree size 30-40cm?) and a nascar is designed to be run into by other cars (force spread over 1.5-2m?). at what point can you get your caged approved? can it just be painted/unpainted in a rolling shell?
  2. isn't the reason the gtr hubs are fork vs the gtst mounts because the alloy isn't strong enough for the gtst mounts? or was it nissan just stopping people from swapping them. The more i think about what i want to do, the cheap Nismo gtst diff + gtr hubs/ball joints seems pretty good. gives me a good diff, and i don't need to put the extra weight of the gtr driveline in. only cause there is a cheap nismo diff avalible, and tassie has a few gtr's that are being parted out due to rust. are the gtst and gtr outer drive splines the same? if not can you just swap the outer part of the 1/2 shaft from the cv?
  3. Proflex = MCA unless your talking about the real Proflex from Europe
  4. My helmate has the hans holes, and it's got a cams hans approved sticker with a serial number. So you probably can do it...but some anal scruteneer will pull you up for it
  5. you been speaking to benson? i was floating that idea by him. I'm running a barron Nismo kit in my GTR and it's great. Does anyone know how it comparest to a new nismo pro? as i can get a bran new gtst one for $500, but i don't want it much more aggressive, as the my GTR one is just nice. I'm going to run the alloy hubs on mine, and probably basterdise the diff case for ABS sensors, as the gtst half shafts have the recess to put the ABS pick up where the GTR one is. But the GTR center won't work with gtst half sharfts
  6. Quinny get's a A for awsome for that story. I think it's good that cams are cracking down on cheats....but targeting a family and not checking other cars is pretty poor form.
  7. I'm trying to find a PFC Pro to run in mine, will be a modified GTR one though. YT said my cage is very similar to his R34's. Cams have now banned those small braces on the main hoop...they will let you run a empty main hoop though
  8. I'm pretty sure only Nissan jp know all the goodies on the specv ATM. But as Targa West is a CAMS event the specv trick wouldn't work.
  9. practice. i think the best way is to sit on the intrusion bar with your feet in the car, then slide in. I will be putting a removable wheel in though.
  10. did anyone notice that quinn had a spec-v sticker on his car for Targa Tas? and have you seen some of the cool things Garage Saurus are finding on the spec-v that was never publisized (bigger turbos, bigger throttle bodies, and who knows what else) Interesting about Quinn Jr, puts a bit of the question mark over other LWR cars.
  11. 6500 on cold tyres 7000 on warm tyres is what i used in the targa car before the pfc pro, hooked up really well. only need 6000 with the launch control. only use 6000 in my r32 to protect the clutch, on roadies it hookes up well. Boggs down with r's on though
  12. Badoer is not having a good day, dunno if he'll be driving at the next race. woooo Spankelton got screwed inthe pits, old man rubens has the lead
  13. vettel blew his engine again. apparently blowing engines can be contagious according to ten commentory
  14. different tyres weigh different weights. there is a noticable diference between Dunlop DZ03 and Bridstone RE55s, the RE55s are heaps heavier. R33 GT-R rims are good. The lighest rims i've found are the Buddy Club P1QF, which are much cheaper than TE37's, but still not real cheap, at about 2200 landed for a set
  15. yay pics are working again preping for welding before the rain...will probably need to go over it again tommorrow more pics of the cage reson for no main hoop diagonal is that yt only puts them on on request (unless its cro mo), i spoke to him about it, and it's a pain in the arse for putting helmates in the back between stages, and nursing them between stages isn't much fun. unless you have a big hit on the top bend of the main hoop, the other bracing will pick up the force. he's made a lot of cages down here, and quite a few have ended up in the trees, so i was happy with what he said.

  21. The cage was in the $3500-$4000 range. I'm really happy with how it came up. bloody tassie weather, i preped the front of the car ready to weld, and then it started pissing down again. pics uploads are being fail atm, so i can't upload pics yet
  22. well it's been pissing down today, so i couldn't get pics. i'm planning to take the guards off and do some seam welding tommorrow, also after helping damo with his car last weekend, i'm going to remove all of the body sealent, as all it seems to do it seal rust in.
  23. Down here there is a lot of old skylines and blubirds rallying. i imagine after all the bluebirds rust away, they will move onto a s chassis.
  24. when are the rules being released????
  25. just picked the car up fro yt i'll take the photo machine to it tomorrow to get some pics
