how long and wide is this road in NZ? would love to do a road trip over there one day, might be a more realistic idea for an overseas SAU jaunt ?

dude, you should start a blog with some of the stories you hear, see and end up getting dragged into! car forum or not im sure plenty here would love to hear about some of the seedier characters you run into, albeit we are at a safe distance and not hearing any names it would still be a fascinating insight into life on the beat. As far as i know these are pretty rare though i have read a few books detailing the glory days of the seventies, eights and a little of the nineties those were different times and theres no sense of immediacy or drama when you know it all happened too long ago to be relevant to current laws and people we 'may' know. whether you do keep sharing your successes or not, thanks for posting about this idiot. yeah watched all five last night, while playing GT5..screw staring at the wall while waiting for screen to load. Saw the R32's gun it for a bit then take off, not like they sat there and held it like some jokers though. I dont really get the appeal as a spectator but for some reason do find it fun behind the wheel. Cant explain it though. as for the guy pulled over the fence, apparently he spat at the cop (read the vid comments, the ones that werent just people screaming 'come at me bro') and threw a punch...pretty much guarantees your going to get pulled through a barbed wire fence! still not been hassled much other than the odd import/commodore giving it some as i boost past them then backing off, did try and keep up with a lowered 3 series Bimmer one wet night along the Eastern distributor (he nailed it from moore park supacentre towards airport) but once the speeds hit 500+ i knew it was time to back off. What kind of stupid hoon does that? should be taken off the road...

PICs or GTFO someone had to say it.. as for too many people around for a burnout, as anyone ever seen one go wrong? Most pointless yet fun thing you can do in a car and i have yet to see a car suddenly explode/spear off into a tree/group of bystanders while doing one. Drag races are another thing altogether though, anyone going all out on a public road with peeps around is a bit of a tool. DIF that half cup of maccas coke story is classic, talk about driving off like a boss!

and you drive a stock looking GTST? thats kind of surprising, got one myself and i have never noticed it getting a second glance (other than from cops of course), oh and that car dropping it at the lights on woodville road? yeah sorry.

going slow through the RNP kind of renders the whole operation pointless though, i didn't drive through there at 4am for the nice views, put it that way..odds are that one day you will hit something as I discovered in a spectacular fashion. Most of the time however your going to have a great time and get to experience your car as it should be driven.. Not as well as on the track of course but for those who cant afford to get to Wakefield every wknd and cant wait then its an acceptable compromise, im not talking 200km/h high speed race/drifting runs but more a spirited 7/10's run along a great road. Animals are always going to be part of the equation and while the chance is there the odds are low enough to roll the dice. k flame away

i just bought a driftcam pro, can also contribute a go pro HD and two handycams if that helps really should go pay for my trackday tickets too for this thing..as for twisty bits, fair point with distance we are going. we are going to at least sit on 119km/hr on the freeway right? will save us at least X amount of minutes over the day...

forgot about this thread but im still keen as, off from 23 oct to end of november to happy to spend the whole 5 weeks on a road trip lol will kick it off with this SAU nats thing so keen to see who else is heading down then, hit Melbourne for a few days after the trackday thing and then work my way back up the coast along the better driving roads where possible. as for lukes ambitious QLD inclusions..hmm why not, always wanted to try the brissie Mos burger and this Mana bar full of video games..be happy enough doing most of VIC and NSW if thats all that transpires. looking forward to ur event thread eric.
