So just block the bov? If I block anything off before the manifold, would that not exclude a large section from the test? I thought the ideal way to test it would be to leave as much connected as possible so that it tests how things would be working while the car was running...
-
Doesn't look that laggy? I have seen an R34 make 280rwhp on the standard turbo at 14psi on Hyperdrives dyno. Another 34 I know of made just over 400rwhp on a HKS GTRS (unsure of boost). It's not like all cars coming out of Hyperdrive are underpowered and laggy.

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go when I service my car in the coming week. Going to do a compression test at the same time. Although... I don't understand how you have done it. Surely all you need is to remove the intake pipe to the turbo. Block the turbo inlet with PVC end pipe, and pump air into there? So everything works exactly how it would if the car was running?

Yeh I pay 900 a year full comp, all mods covered. Excess is high, but I wouldn't make a claim for small things anyway so it doesn't bug me in the slightest. Lol watch out, they will get you hook line and sinker man. Oh wait...
-
Possibly... Possibly could have worded that better I take huge care in what I put on my paint, given I respray my own panels so I refuse to use anything that is going to mess with the finish, ie. silicon.

You know how much love would be going around if everyone waved to series 1 R33's? Might as well just write 'ILY' on your windscreen.
-
That page was almost easier to understand before I translated it Some good looking lights there though.
-
Who taught you to use a keyboard? 0.8 gap would be ideal, if you got coppers then just take them out and gap them down.
-
I objec... Oh.

See I hate Meguiars. Refuse to let it anywhere near my car. Anything that contains silicon can geeet owt. Glad Final Inspection products were mentioned, I'm a big fan of their range.

Dude, in terms of insurance, my car costs the exact same amount now as it did when it was NA. In fact it's cheaper because of my age. If you go with JustCar, they consider it a modification. It's unlimited free modifications, so you don't pay any extra And in terms of legalities and getting over the pits... You would have just as much if not more trouble trying to pass the pits with a 30DE than you would with a 25DET Neo. As for the cat, check out JustJap. I don't trust X-Force, but the Catco ones are apparently very good and RDA approved.

Would the engine not run rich if this were the case? Suppose if it has been tuned with it then it would not... Leak test it is then.
-
Agree, but... Do my Police sunnies make me look like a jerk? This is true actually, most of the classic cars will give me some love back.
-
Ah yes, good call. I knew something didn't add up about what I said. Brain no worky after uni However, wouldn't a boost leak be a vacuum leak while not on boost? The car drives fine, doesn't feel like it has any vacuum leaks...
-
Eps man, yumad4? You do a lot of raging about people not waving to you Me, I wave to all imports if I see them in time. And if I'm driving next to one, I give them some bov love and a wave I hardly ever get any love back though. Most people look at me like I'm a nutjob. Others think I want to race so they just take off... At least... At least I think that's why they take off...

I see, I'll talk to Stao about that one. Was a bit surprised myself about their not logging boost. My tuner told me to come back when he has his dyno up and running and he will give me a free run on the dyno so he can see what it does properly. Lol
-
I agree. Would that I could afford a car for every occasion... Man I would have some amazing rides
-
What cat are you looking at? You can get decent cats for less than 400 that will be more than good enough for what you need. If you're after power... RB30DE would not be my choice. Needs to be forced induction. Power is only a twist of a dial away
-
Poor old exhaust lol. Don't underestimate the cat man. Plenty of gain to be had there (though on an NA, 'plenty' should be interpreted differently lol).

Apexi Power Intake With Z32Afm Which One?
Hanaldo replied to boostn0199's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Don't think it matters. The pod has two flange patterns on it, a round one and a rectangle one. My Apexi filter just bolted straight up to the Z32. -
I assume you are talking about the actuator? I'm using a 20psi actuator. I don't have a print out with boost, Ovaboosts dyno can't log boost. I'll overlay the charts I have.

It's a very free flowing exhaust... Would a boost leak not show up when I did the pressure test? Given I took the reading from just after the turbo and then from the MAP sensor just before the manifold? If there was a boost leak, wouldn't the pressure at the turbo be greater than the pressure at the manifold, even if the pressure at the manifold was 16psi? Assuming the leak is between those two points, but where else could it be leaking from? Which brings me to another point; Stao, if the issue here is a low reading dyno. Why did the comp wheel on the turbo I sent back to you show it had been working too hard?
-
Eh, fully agree, my car is much too fast for the street. The track is very addictive though... Can't get enough
-
Not the same dyno, Hyperdrive don't have a dyno right now.

Oh hey man, sorry I didn't recognize the username! lol. Yeh car is going fine man, no real issues Still a bit slow for my liking, but none of my friends agree Because it's not that much effort? I also didn't change it all to dead stock... I spent a long time weighing up the positives and negatives. Consider this. I paid 15k for my car when I bought it. At the time I did the conversion last year, there is no chance I would have got 13k for it. The conversion including all parts (necessary parts, not optional parts that I chose to use) cost me about 6-7k. So by the time my car was essentially a GTT, perhaps I could have sold my car and bought a car worth 20k. So yes, perhaps I could have bought a factory GTT. And yet for the same price, I got so much more. Even if you ignore all the parts that I upgraded (too many to list off the top of my head), the experience was priceless. I have done too much to my car to consider owning a different one. If I was to sell my car, it would only be to move away from the high performance scene.
