  1. Congrats to all the SAU peeps who entered and finished....being up the pointy end of the field is a bonus For those that had some misadventures as Kel put it I hope you get well soon and the cars back on the road in no time.

    No Shame...

Unfort this happens all the time which is why I never park the R in a carpark. Wifes new car got hit while in a carpark after only owning it for about 1 month Not much damage - small scratch down one rear door and ripped of section of plastic bodywork. Wife sees a note on the windscreen and thought 'great there are a few decent people around'.....only to read the note and find the only thing written was "Sorry"
  3. Yep got a few of the 220 but unfort this example wasn't in perfect condition....the drivers side headlight didn't line up with the level of the bonnet and hence I left the pics out of this thread.
  4. Hmmm thats weird no-one knew about it as it was advertised in a fair few places. One of the main sponsors was the herald sun and they ran ads in print and online etc etc.

    2010 F1 Season

Sounds good...any ideas on whether it will be shown in Oz or will it be download only??
  6. Surprised no-one else has posted a thread about this but thought I would share some of my pics from the Motorclassica show last weekend. I normally wouldn't be interested in a show like this based on the fact I thought it would attract all sorts of anorak types but my dad called me up wanting to go and I figured I'd tag along. In the end I was glad I did as there was all sorts of automotive porn to drool over...there was even a black R35GTR sitting out the front First up was a car I would buy in a heartbeat if I had a spare couple of mil lying around As you can see sitting right next to it was a very rare Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss edition and the Holden Efigy Next to those was something a little different...not really my thing but pretty cool...a Devaux Around the coner were another couple of Mercs...a SLR-R and a mint gullwing 300SL There were the usual Porsches but the 906 caught my eye... Of course the prancing horse came out to play with numerous examples, but the Dinos still have it A 355 challenge was left in the rain Probably the best part of the day was meeting Sterling Moss who gave a chat to the crowd and then signed a few items....considering his age, and the life he has led, he is doing pretty bloody well! Enjoy the pics.... -Ant.
  7. Yep only the sun for me bris...assuming my entry is accepted. Russ, the classes don't really matter as it is more for the PIARC people doing their championship thing I think. I believe the turbo multiplier puts us in the over 3000 classes. Cash on the day should be fine....was last time I did a PIARC day.....if you want confirmation email the event sec Teresa at [email protected].
  8. In regard to height, with my very limited knowledge of airflow over the roof of a car a rear wing should be level (or close to) with the roof line in order to use this airflow. Adz's above looks perfect.
  9. I'm going to try head down on the Sun but won't need accom.
  10. Aaahhhh crap...this the same day as the last PIARC sprint at PI
  11. Ok my some of my in car is up on youtube. First up is my fastest lap of the day 1:34.170, fist pump and all : Next up is one of the Rex's I had a tangle with in the last session. Wasn't held up as badly as budge and had a brainfade around the cleavage when I changed to 3rd which cost me an overtaking moment ...although the evasive action I had to take in the braking zone might have contributed to it : Last up is another Rex I caught and passed in the last session....no evasive action this time but he did force me to overtake him under brakes:
  12. Well Jack lend me your silver beast and we will see whether or not the Evo's are still on top The drivers aren't pro's but seem assoc with Chasers....as for the cars they look pretty serious with alot of go fast gear but as usual at track days the owners are pretty cagey about what the cars pumping out. LOL.....you know what they say Roy....once you go black you never go back Can't wait for you to start hitting the Vic track again mate...any plans? Some aweome pics from the day can be found here: http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f265/wat...inton%20091010/
  13. Can't watch boob tube at work but I believe that is one of the rex's that I came across in the last session ...car no 2.

  15. His is the racing spec S13 silvia unless I am mistaken....which is entirely possible And Dane...I didn't end up seeing much of you throughout the day...how did you go?
  16. After the last round at Winton where recent suspension work really came into their own I was keen to head back. Despite the fact that this round was booked on Bathurst plus Jap GP weekend and less than stellar accom for Fri night it turned into a top weekend! The weather was awesome with sun until just after lunch and a little bit of cloud cover after to provide a bit of a break. My previous PB of 1:35.337 was set at the last round here back in July with the new suspension work but 1/2 bald RE55's. This time I had a 'one round old' set of Advan A050's so was hoping to better my time....and better it I did with a new PB of 1:34.170! This was then backed up by a string of 1:34 laps in the next session but the 33 still avoided me. The biggest stand out was the speed I was able to carry through the sweeper and following kink just after - after falling off there back in July I wouldn't have thought it possible!! A big congrats to everyone for a top drive with PB's everywhere - and Russ what can I say a 1:34 is an awesome effort with your car on worn A050's. The only downer on the day was the last session - as a lot of people had left or retired the organisers grouped a whole bunch of people together from slower groups. Unfortunately, a few people who really should know better decided that we were racing for sheep stations. Despite closing on them with around a 4sec laptime difference and given plenty of opportunity to let us past on straights, they decided to make a race out of it - late braking/missed apexs included. This left me having to make more-dangerous-than-I-would've-liked overtakes in order to get past. This goes against the rules of a timed spint day - if you want to get the red mist out speak to the organisers and get them to run a super sprint. That way the group is spaced out by the green flag start and everyone partaking is clear what is going on. Despite the above, a thanks to the organisers as I thought the day ran very smoothly and despite the fact that the incidents were minor, they were dealt with very efficiently. Next time just bring a blue flag or run a super sprint! In car vids to follow.....
  17. You had better be bringing the 180 Dane
  18. Actually if you read further (parts 2 and 3 I think) they actually test a car with the undertrays off and on and a bit of aero mods. Undertrays off proved the worst and while it doesn't give specifics it was mentioned that the more turbulant air had something to do with it.
  19. I use the mychron just to give me an instant lap time so I know if what I am trying is faster or slower. So far it has been spot on compared to the transponder timing and gives me the instant feedback I am after. If you are after data and splits etc this obviously isn't for you.
  20. G'day Chris.... a lock bar made for a 33 GTR will fit it no matter the year of manufacture. I would highly recommend the one from Racepace as the manuf. quality is top notch.
  21. Having recently seen a car where a tree impacted just behind the passenger seat, the tree truck pushed up the floor by a substantial amount. Had the tree impacted next to the passenger it wouldn't be hard to imagine that the seat would've been pushed up and the passengers head impacting the roof or cage. This design would no doubt reduce the chance of this happening.
  22. Great read mate and can't wait to hear about the Spa experience
  23. The good news is that a lot of suspn components are the same between a 33 and 34 GTR...as victory said above contact someone who knows how to setup the suspn for a GTR and spend your coin on that. My R was running on stock suspn and it just didn't want to turn in - since I fitted adj arms etc and had the alignment settings sorted I have cut at least 1-2 secs off every track I have been to. Just be aware that when you go a more track orientated alignment it no longer makes for a nice road car. As for your brakes....maybe its the pads. The stock setup should be good up until the 300kw at the wheel mark. I run DBA5000 rotors at the front, stock rears with good pads and fluid and never had an issue.
  24. For those that don't know Round 7 - Calder has been cancelled which makes Winton early next month the last event in the championship.
